I'm expecting a whole new cast, but a story that references events in Arcadia Bay and ties into some kind of myth arc explaining more about how (and why) time travel works in this universe.

IMO, they could do a straight sequel if it involved something like having someone else change the past so that it doesn't match either ending, and then Max ends up 'fighting' an unknown opponent to create the best timeline she can.

My suggestion/plan:

Read Drakengard 1 LP
Read Drakengard 2 LP if you feel like it, it's irrelevant to Nier (and not directed by Yoko Taro, so is lacking in his trademark craziness)
Play NieR (I'm still in this phase)
Read Drakengard 3 LP if you feel like it (I don't really know what the game's like, as I'm told the LP spoils Nier. The game itself is probably irrelevant though)
Play NieR Automata

There's three different collections (with the first two being bundled together on PS4)

1.5+2.5 contains KH1, KH2, re:CoM and BBS, plus non-interactive recaps of re:Coded and Days

2.8 contains Dream Drop Distance, a brand new (albeit short) game starring Aqua that's basically a KH3 demo, and an original film based on KHUX.

Maybe a hapless genie accidentally caused a zombie outbreak some time in the past, so whatever mystical force created the genies (or a person with a very carefully worded wish) changed the rules to prevent it happening again.

That would mean that Genie could have personally witnessed the results, but also be unable to grant such a wish now.

A few years ago, most developers would assume that by the time the license expires, they'll no longer be selling the game anyway - it doesn't matter, license-wise, if physical copies are still floating around the secondhand market. But with the rise of digital sales, a publisher might still be making money off a work by the time the license to the included music expires, and so they either have to remove/replace the music with a patch, or pull the game.

BTW, I don't know for sure, but someone in another discussion about this implied that the GTA games have had part of their soundtracks patched out of some versions for this very reason.

Because music licensing people are terrible, Remedy will no longer be able to sell the fantastic Alan Wake as of Monday. So, for the last 48 hours where you can legally buy the game, it'll be 90% off on most digital stores, including GOG and Steam.

It's a great game, it's dirt cheap, and if you don't buy it now you might never be able to. So go do it. Play it. Love it. And join the rest of us fans desperately hoping against hope that we get a sequel one day.

Oh, and the arcadey spinoff American Nightmare is reduced too, but not being pulled from sale. You should buy it too, just to support the franchise.

If you want a great example of an RPG party that doesn't get along, play Koudelka. Only three people in the party (and about the same number of NPCs), but their bickering as these distinctly non-heroic characters with their own agendas and strong opinions of the other two are forced to work together makes for some fantastic dialogue.

I liked the sequel. Wasn't a patch on the first, but still a decent open-world explodeathon. And it had a fantastic theme song.

Pandemic should have been allowed to make a third one and try to get back to the feel of the original, but EA happened yet again.

Isn't it too short? yes the levels are big, and yes you can have 3000 ways to finish a mission, but do I really want to play the same level again and again?

Is it only six levels? I assumed each episode had, like, two or three missions.

Come to think of it, one of the major complaints is that the 2016 game requires a constant internet connection- if Squeenix are offloading the franchise, is there a danger they'll scrap the servers at some point and render the game unplayable?

I found the early Wing Commander games (1&2) to be easier to play with a 360 controller than a proper joystick. For the later ones (and X-Wing, Freespace, Tachyon etc), I use a Saitek FLY 5, which has generally shit reviews and has required a few repairs, but is otherwise perfectly comfortable and responsive with a good button layout.

Bianca seems to have a much cooler moveset in Heroes, but Nera has blue hair, and blue hair is cool. And Deborah is... also an option, maybe. Being added in a remake is cool, I guess. She doesn't seem very nice though.

Stellaris is one of those games that I think looks amazing, but will never in a million years get my head around how to properly play it. I just don't have the right sort of brain for 4X and Grand Strategy, and I wish I did because goddamn do I want to be able to enjoy Stellaris.

Depends what criteria we're using. I love Fi as a character (just the concept of a magical AI is really cool), but as an advisor, her insistence on telling me exactly how to solve a puzzle before I've even had a chance to look at it, let alone figure it out myself, is objectively the worst.

I was kind of excited when I first heard about Has Been Heroes, because I enjoy both Trine and Roguelikes... and then I saw what it actually was, and I have no idea what you should call that shallow casual crap, but it sure as hell isn't a Roguelike. Apparently the word just means 'randomly generated' now.

Not quite sure how that happened. I pretty much ignored the game throughout most of its prolonged development, save occasionally looking at updates that made me even less interested in it, and yet today I walked into CEX with a spare copy of NieR (which is suddenly worth way more than I paid for it now that the sequel is popular) and decided that the best thing there to trade it for would be FFXV.

So far, it actually seems... decent. Fun combat, some cool world mechanics, a solid foundation for the worldbuilding, and one out of the four leads seems like they might be tolerable (Ignis, obviously- is it just me or is he weirdly reminiscent of Egon Spengler?). I just hope this J-pop roadtrip turns into an actual plot at some point.

Lately I've been mopping up all the special stuff that's become ridiculously easy with a guilted iKairi2, but now I'm pretty much done upgrading all my keyblades to +25 (and getting a Moogle Doll from multiplayer quests) and I'm back to focusing on the story- reckon I can make it to 600 before we have to start tracking AP again. That is, if I can make it past this latest boss in Quest 555.
