It's stupid that this is becoming a debate.

Ads can go to hell. Doesn't matter if they're respectful or not. They're using bandwidth and/or taking up time.

And the last thing that should ever be happening is trying to click a link and then an ad loads and moves it. Fuck that.

Doubletrue when people put shit behind adfly. [Luckily there's anti-adfly scripts too]

No Ads. Ever.

I disagree with this in concept, but the vast majority of sites (gamefaqs included) run such trashy, obnoxious, and invasive ads that I agree with this in practice.

Ads on Gamefaqs don't really bother me at all, except sometimes on mobile. But SBAllen usually takes care of the disruptive ads on mobile.

I use adblock but I turn it off for places that ask nicely, have ads that aren't super obnoxious, and/or I go too a lot and want to support.

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

Let's be honest, most major sites do this by selling user data, a subscription model or both. Smaller sites, sure, but I'd rather send them a few bucks than view ads.

I view and click on ads if they're not obnoxious or obviously malware. I have nothing against advertising in general - instead of paying money, I'm giving a few seconds of time to see an ad.

Unfortunately, I need to block most ads because they's usually obnoxious. I used to avoid clicking on any ads and I would get malware sometimes when I didn't use ad blocking. When advertisers stop using obnoxious ads or giving me malware, I'll get rid of my ad blocking software, but I don't think that's going to happen because it's getting worse now.

The way I see it, if people didn't want their ads blocked then they shouldn't have made them so damned annoying/actively harmful. And none of that "Oh we don't know what ads are on our site." nonsense either.

Until it can be 100% guaranteed that an ad will never give me malware, it's AdBlock always for me. Don't like it, you can help get malware out of ads.

Actually the nastiest ads that are most likely to contain malware are NOT blocked by adblock so lol

I mean really just go to any shady torrent/porn site and see for yourself

Try this experiment- turn on adblock, and browse Nexusmods for a few minutes.

Not turn adblock off and refresh the page. Notice how it's now scrolling at one frame per second and your computer is on fire? THAT'S why we use adblock. Because if you can't even be bothered to optimise your shitty clickbait so that it doesn't take a terabyte of RAM to render a static image, you don't deserve oxygen, let alone money.

Oh jeez, Nexusmods is impossible to use without adblock. I once opened it in IE and it pretty much slowed the computer I was using to glacially slow.

used to be the same, but recently AdBlock starting working off and on for some reason, only blocking ads when it felt like it. So I said screw this; reinstalled it and turned it up to 11 to block all ads no matter what. I also only allow ads on a certain few website I want to support.
