Well part of the problem is that if the regular price increases then the sale price is just going to increase as well, so you'll have to readjust your price point for buying.

Either way it's total nonsense.

I mean this is exactly why we (as a species) shouldn't be eating pork on a mass, world-wide scale. It's only a matter of time before this makes it to Australia and the Americas and if it ever does evolve to infect humans we really are doomed.

Also McDonald's own numbers had "Super Sizing" down to like 0.1% of all sales by the time they discontinued it, it literally wouldn't even pay for itself to bring it back.

During a Q&A session following its third-quarter earnings call, Ubisoft was asked whether players should expect a price hike in the company's next fiscal year, which spans April 2021 to March 2022. Without giving a definitive answer one way or the other, Ubisoft CFO Frdrick Duguet admitted that the company is evaluating its game prices but hasn't made a final call.

"In terms of pricing, we've been analyzing the competitive dynamics of the last quarter and we are still looking at new opportunities, but we have not made any decision yet," Duguet said.

It's a shame they got rid of the Super Size stuff too, time to bring it back. All that does is make things worse. The costumer who was used to ordering a Super Size fries probably just got two large fries instead lol

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-02-10/african-swine-fever-mutates-littproud-issues-warning/13140142

A pig-killing disease that has wiped out almost a billion pigs worldwide has mutated, establishing new variants.

Australia's chief vet Mark Schipp said the new variant could have been established through the use of an illegal vaccine.

"As with any virus, we expect that there will be mutations and evolution of the virus in new environments, and it may be that this is a natural variation," he said.

"But the deletions that we're seeing in this virus are the same deletions that are being used in the development of vaccines."

African Swine Fever does not yet have a vaccine.

"To develop a vaccine, they have been deleting specific genes and those specific gene deletions are some of those we're seeing in the new variant, so it may be that this is arriving from illegal use of vaccines," Dr Schipp said.

Ahead of Chinese New Year celebrations, the Federal Government is calling for heightened biosecurity to ensure African swine fever (ASF), a disease that would devastate the pork industry, does not enter Australia.

"Variants are showing less obvious signs of the disease which increases the likelihood of it going undetected and uncontrolled," said Agriculture Minister David Littleproud.

"The new variant is actually causing less mortality," Dr Schipp said.

"[It is] a disease of chronic fatigue, slow growth, [and] reduced fertility so if we're relying on seeing lots of dead pigs as the first sign, we're not going to see that sign."

Mr Littleproud said the emergence of new variants of the virus had reportedly been detected in Asia but did not specify where.

More than 11,600 outbreaks of ASF have been detected in Asia since 2018, and incursion in Australia could cost the domestic economy up to $2 billion over five years, according to a study funded by Australian Pork Limited.

There are currently more than 3,000 ongoing outbreaks of ASF in Asia.

It is a contagious viral disease which affects domestic and wild pigs, but not humans.

In addition to high fever, symptoms include internal bleeding and haemorrhages on the skin and the virus is estimated to have killed 800 million pigs worldwide.

The Government and pork industry fear that the disease, which is transmitted in pork products, could enter Australia via mail or travellers.

In the 14 months until the end of 2020, more than 40 tonnes of pork products were intercepted from air travellers, and more than 9t were intercepted at Australian mail centres.

In less than two years, since new biosecurity penalties were introduced, 14 travellers have been kicked out of Australia and had their visas cancelled for attempting to illegally import produce.

https://kotaku.com/ps5-controllers-are-drifting-and-the-repairs-are-a-has-1846233739

Few things about the PlayStation 5 are better than the DualSense controller. It feels terrific to hold, somehow just as solid as it is light. The haptics are truly dynamic, at least for games that offer such support. Its beautiful. But even the mighty DualSense reportedly isnt immune to the Achilles heel of modern video game controllers: drift.

When you think of controller drift, your mind probably drifts to the Nintendo Switch. Pretty much immediately after the hybrid console released in 2017, unlucky players came to know the dreaded term Joy-Con drift. In other words, the thumbsticks would habitually malfunction sending the console false inputs even when players werent touching them. In 2019, Nintendo acknowledged the issue in a comment to Kotaku, and announced a new policy that both offered afflicted owners free repairs and granted refunds for prior repairs. Last year, Nintendos president formally apologized for the whole debacle (but didnt say a word about that class action suit).

Now, PS5 owners are reporting similar issues with the DualSense.

Since the PS5 was released last November, players have taken to social media to share stories about DualSense drift. One user reported the issue 10 days after receiving their PS5, stating they tried every possible fixpower-cycling the console, turning Bluetooth on and off, resetting the controller, and, finally, charging it fully overnightto no avail.

Another uploaded a video to Reddit that appears to show some serious controller drift. In the 15-second clip, you can clearly see the players fingers off the thumbsticks while playing Destiny 2. And yet, the players guna snazzy sidearm that bears a strong resemblance to Lonesome, a legendary sidearm with a terrific fire rate and some serious punchdrifts across the screen of its own accord. Yes, Beyond Lights Europa boasts some stunning vistas, but theyre better enjoyed when youre actually at the controls.

At the moment, your options for fixing a busted DualSense are slim. You could go through Sonys PlayStation support page, which has a dedicated portal for issues with PS5 hardware, including the DualSense controller. Just keep in mind that the PlayStations support team is swamped at the moment fielding requests about the PS5, which is still nigh-impossible to find.

When I tried hitting up support, I was told to reach out to a customer service agent via the contact page for PlayStation support. In a conversation over instant messages, an agent told me to call 1-800-345-7669 and press 1 for PS5. I did so, and then listened to, no joke, a dozen different pre-recorded messages informing me that PlayStation support is not the place to inquire about finding a PS5. I was then kicked over to hold. On the plus side, it was soundtracked by Gustavo Santaolallas deliciously twangy Last of Us theme. On the not-plus side, I had to listen to it for 17 minutes. As ever, PlayStation support remains a byzantine maze of conflicted emotions.

Once I eventually made it through to a person, I was told that DualSense drift is covered under warranty. You will, however, have to pay for shipping your controller to a Sony repair centera cost that varies based on a number of factors, including location and the total weight of your packagebut Sony apparently covers the return shipping. No recoup on whatever you pay for that first shipping label.

Theoretically, the ability to tweak a controllers deadzone on a system level could offer a salve, at least in a Band-Aid-on-a-bullet-wound sort of way. The latest DualSense update, 0210, did not add such support. Neither did the latest PS5 firmware update. Its unclear if future PS5 updates will add such support.

Kotaku reached out to Sony for comment but, at press time, had not heard back.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/02/08/georgia-secretary-of-state-opens-investigation-into-trumps-efforts-to-overturn-election-.html

The Georgia Secretary of States office opened an investigation on Monday into former U.S. President Donald Trumps efforts to overturn the states 2020 election results, an official in the office told Reuters.

Secretary of State Brad Raffenspergers office had faced calls to open a probe after Trump was recorded in a Jan. 2 phone call pressuring Raffensperger to overturn the states election results based on unfounded voter fraud claims.

The Secretary of States office investigates complaints it receives, said Walter Jones, a spokesman for the Secretary of States office, describing the investigation as fact finding and administrative.

Any further legal efforts will be left to the attorney general, he said.

Legal experts said Trumps phone calls may have violated at least three state criminal election laws: conspiracy to commit election fraud, criminal solicitation to commit election fraud, and intentional interference with performance of election duties. The felony and misdemeanor violations are punishable by fines or imprisonment.

In the Jan. 2 phone call, Trump urged Raffensperger, a fellow Republican, to find enough votes to overturn his Georgia loss. The transcript quotes Trump telling Raffensperger: All I want to do is this: I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is the number Trump needed to win. Trump made another phone call in December to Georgias chief elections investigator, Raffenspergers office said.

Additionally, two Democratic members of the U.S. Congress - Kathleen Rice, of New York, and Ted Lieu, of California - have asked in a Jan. 4 letter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a criminal probe into Trumps call to Raffensperger.

On Jan. 6 - the day of the U.S. Capitol riots - Trump bragged about the call in a speech to supporters: People love that conversation because it says whats going on, he said. These people are crooked.

The push for investigations are one illustration of the legal perils facing Trump since he lost the constitutional protections that shield sitting presidents from prosecution. Trump now faces nearly a dozen legal battles, including a criminal probe by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance into his business dealings and several civil lawsuits.

Trump has described the investigations into his family business as politically motivated.

David Worley, the lone Democrat on Georgias state election board had planned to introduce a motion at Wednesdays board meeting urging state Attorney General Chris Carr and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to open a criminal investigation into Trumps phone calls with election officials.

He said such a move would be unnecessary if the Secretary of States office has opened an investigation. If theyve done this, I wont need to make my motion, Worley told Reuters. This is the normal thing that should happen when a complaint is filed. If a complaint is filed, an investigation is started, thats how it works.
