It's reasons like this that old cartridges for certain games are still going up in price. And with clone systems readily available and cheap, I think they will just keep going up. Chrono Trigger is still around $200, maybe I should just bite the bullet and get it.

Don't forget the cartridges straight-up die after too many writes because save files are on the cartridge itself. So it's just gonna keep getting worse.

U.S. officials have offered to help the Trudeau government end an anti-vaccine mandate protest blockade that is sending ripple effects through the American economy and causing increasing concern in Washington.

The White House says U.S. officials had multiple conversations on Thursday with their Canadian counterparts about the blockade on the Ambassador Bridge, a major trade artery which connects Windsor, Ont. with Detroit.

The White House said Thursday the U.S. federal cabinet and senior administration staff are now seized with this issue.

"[They] have been engaged around the clock to bring this to a swift end," the White House said in response to questions from CBC News.

The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden said Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas urged his Canadian counterparts Thursday to use their own federal powers to end the blockade at the Canada-U.S. border.

Mayorkas also reportedly offered the help of his department to end the impasse.

The White House did not elaborate on the offer of help. Mayorkas's department handles multiple agencies, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Those officers are posted at border checkpoints, including the Ambassador Bridge the busiest crossing between the two countries and a vital trade link.

Disruptions at that bridge have escalated U.S. interest in the convoy protests. Those protests were covered initially by U.S. media as a right-wing phenomenon but are now drawing wide-ranging national attention as a political and economic issue.

"We know that disruptions like these hit hard-working American families the hardest," the White House said.

The disruption has paused auto production at plants on both sides of the border. One U.S. lawmaker has suggested that the United States should rely less on imports from Canada and buy more of its auto products at home.

The White House said it's aware of reports of plans for similar truck-convoy protests in the U.S. at the Super Bowl and across the country.

It said it has no reason yet to believe these events are anything but protests protected by the free speech provisions of the U.S. Constitution. It said it will send Homeland Security personnel to this Sunday's Super Bowl in addition to the contingent already there.

Definitely well passed time to send in the military.

NFL officials were informed Alvin Kamara was a suspect in a felony battery case by Las Vegas Metro PD prior to the Pro Bowl, but cops and the league allowed the Saints star to still play in the game ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ Sports.

We're told NFL security was notified several hours before kickoff that police were looking for the 26-year-old running back, but the parties essentially came to an agreement that Kamara would be allowed to play in the game, and cooperate with authorities afterward.

"We got in touch with NFL security about 10 o'clock in the morning and let them know that [Kamara] was a suspect in the case and they located him and he was already on the field," Assistant Sheriff John McGrath told the Nevada Current.

He continued ... "So they contacted him and he agreed to meet with us after the game. And so that's just the way we did it since he was cooperating."

Kamara played ... catching 4 passes for 23 yards.

Waiting to make the arrest seemed to payoff for the police.

After the game, police Mirandized the Saints star at Allegiant Stadium ... where he then spoke with investigators, and gave his side of the story.

Kamara admitted he punched the alleged victim at least 1 time early Saturday morning inside a Vegas hotel after he claims a man made a disrespectful comment to someone in his group.

However, the alleged victim tells a different story. He claims Kamara pushed him for an unknown reason, before Alvin and his 3 friends beat the man down.

Cops say they reviewed surveillance video and the footage showed Kamara punching the man at least 8 times.

Kamara was arrested on 1 count of battery w/ serious bodily injury, a felony.

If convicted, he faces up to 5 years in prison.

Peloton is firing over 2,800 employees 20% of its corporate workforce due to an ongoing downturn in the company's business.

As part of the severance plan for the over 2,800 laid off employees, Pelton is offering a curious benefit: A membership to Peloton.

"The Peloton monthly membership will be complimentary for impacted team members for an additional 12 months," Peloton said in its press release about the layoffs. That's in addition to a "meaningful cash severance allotment" that's determined "based on job level and tenure" with the fitness company, alongside several other benefits.

Peloton announced CEO John Foley is stepping down as the chief executive, with former Spotify and

Peloton cofounder John Foley is relinquishing his role as CEO, the company said on Tuesday.

Foley, who cofounded Peloton in 2012, is set to become executive chair. Barry McCarthy, formerly a chief financial officer of Spotify and Netflix, is expected to replace Foley as CEO. McCarthy is also replacing William Lynch as president.

The connected-fitness company plans to slash about 2,800 jobs, or 20% of its corporate workforce, as part of cost-cutting measures that come on the back of falling demand for at-home fitness.

The news was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The firm expects the measures to deliver at least $800 million a year in savings. It also announced it would be "winding down development" of Peloton Output Park, its planned $400 million Ohio facility.

Peloton saw demand for its products soar during the pandemic as lockdowns forced gym-goers to find options for working out at home. But growth started to slow as restrictions eased, and reports emerged in January of pauses in production of Peloton bikes and treadmills because of a slowdown in orders.

Peloton's market value has plummeted from $50 billion last year to $9.8 billion.

In late January, activist investor Blackwells Capital called on Peloton to fire Foley and explore options to sell the company. The Journal reported on Friday that several potential buyers, including Amazon, were eyeing a deal, while the Financial Times reported on Saturday that Nike was considering making a bid for the business.

Foley and McCarthy told The Journal on Tuesday that the company had been planning to find a new CEO for a long time. "I have always thought there has to be a better CEO for Peloton than me," Foley said. "Barry is more perfectly suited than anybody I could've imagined."

McCarthy is a board member at Instacart and Spotify.

Peloton's stock fell 8.7% in Tuesday's premarket session, to $27.11 a share. Shares were down 18% this year as of Monday's close.

The biggest problem right now in 2022 is the chain supply issue.
While ideally sure it would be nice if the truckers were vaccinated, right now they need to be able to get the stuff to where they all need to be. Plus truckers are usually by themselves, also cases are skyrocketing down again (And Canada has been notoriously crazy over their restrictions when their cases have never even been near high)

I mean these people are literally blockading the border at Coutts and they started going after the Ambassador Bridge crossing as well now.

They're literally creating supply chain issues themselves.

Marvel Super Heroes 2 is pretty mediocre in itself, but I think part of the problem is that it was all just super hero games. Like IMO Jurassic World was good but not great, but man was it a nice change from playing as super heroes.

This weekend, the new end-of-the-world movie Moonfall is set to dominate the box office.

Directed by Roland Emmerich, the disaster-porn artist behind Independence Day, 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow, Moonfall looks gloriously trash-tacular. It features a curious collection of stars (Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, Donald Sutherland), a head-shaking plot (a mysterious force has knocked the moon from its orbit and sent it hurtling toward Earth!), and a beautifully absurd tagline (In 2022, humanity will face the dark side of the Moon.)

For Canadians finally allowed back into theatres after yet another round of shutdowns Ontario cinemas reopened this past Monday, while Quebec venues welcome audiences back next Monday Moonfall sounds like the perfect no-brain-required entertainment for a dead-of-winter night out. Especially given that there isnt much else on offer at multiplexes, with Omicron-wary studios having largely abandoned January.

The only problem: Moonfall is not opening at any Canadian theatre this weekend. Nor will it be available on-demand. Moonfall is simply bypassing Canadian audiences entirely. And with a US$140-million production budget and huge launch across U.S. screens, it is the biggest release to ever do so.

This past Friday, Allied Global Marketing, which had been responsible for Moonfalls Canadian marketing in an arrangement with the films domestic distributor Mongrel Media, confirmed to The Globe and Mail that both companies were no longer handling the movies release. Up until that point, Moonfall had been an active concern: Mongrel posted trailers on its Facebook page as early as this past September, and the film was listed as opening Feb. 4 on the website of Cineplex, the countrys largest exhibitor. Posters were up in theatres, and Mongrels Twitter account promised an experience only in theatres and IMAX (tweets that, as of this writing, are still online).

So: What happened? Blame the Ontario and Quebec governments, says Canadian film industry veteran Victor Loewy.

Since 2019, Loewy, the former chief executive officer of Alliance Films, has been the leader behind a deal struck between Mongrel, Cineplex and Lionsgate Entertainment to jointly handle the Canadian theatrical distribution of films either acquired or produced by Lionsgate, including Moonfall.

The story is that three or four weeks before a release, we have to push the button to buy advertising: TV, newspapers, online, billboards. On a film like Moonfall, were looking at millions of dollars, Loewy said in an interview. In Ontario, no one was saying a word about reopening, and in Quebec it was worse. We were in complete darkness. At some point, you have to make a decision.

Loewy said Mongrel already spent $150,000 to advertise Moonfall last year. But given that Quebec shuttered theatres Dec. 20, and Ontario closed cinemas two weeks later, with no firm guarantee as to a reopening date in either province, the gamble of committing to further promotional spending was too risky.

At Christmas, we had American Underdog, and a few before that release, Quebec shut down. We took a big loss. So this is the way its playing out, Loewy said.

The only major 2022 movie to so far be theatrically released in Canada has been the new Scream film, which Paramount Pictures Canadian arm distributed in whichever regions were open Jan. 14. (Paramounts Jackass Forever arrives in theatres this weekend, as well.) But according to Loewy, the size and uncertainty of Ontario and Quebecs markets made the situation too risky for Moonfall.

Ontario and Quebec represent 70 per cent of Canadas box office, and the provinces that are open still have major restrictions on capacity, he said.

Moonfall will not be available in Canada through video-on-demand or streaming, either at least, not immediately. Instead, Moonfalls Canadian home-entertainment release will abide by however long Lionsgates theatrical window winds up being in the United States. (Comparable Lionsgate titles, such as last years The Hitmans Bodyguards Wife, took 45 days to move from the big screen to VOD.) Also, the process of pivoting from theatrical to digital is not akin to simply flipping a switch. Distributors VOD partners such as Apple TV and Rogers require deliveries of digital files at least 30 days before scheduled release dates.

The absence of Moonfall which, in a delicious smack of irony, was filmed in Montreal is a blow for Canadian audiences looking for big-screen escapism. But the move will also surely wound domestic theatre owners, who are already dealing with myriad public-health restrictions, a cautious consumer base, and few enticing new releases.

It came as a surprise to us, but it just falls under the guise of the current state of the theatrical market in Canada, said Landmark Cinemas CEO Bill Walker, who found out about Moonfalls exit this past Thursday, just a week before its scheduled release. Were running the business on pretty lean product right now, but more movies are trickling in.

As for speculation on social media that Moonfall was pulled because of a financial dispute between Mongrel and exhibitors over the box office percentage that the distributor was demanding theatres and distributors typically split ticket sales 50/50 all parties involved say that is not the case.

Thats absolutely not even close, Loewy said. At Alliance, we handled Lionsgate titles for 20 years or so, and nothings changed.

Sarah Van Lange, vice-president of communications for Cineplex, also said there was no truth to the rumour, adding in a statement that, We were disappointed to learn that a Canadian theatrical release of Moonfall wasnt part of the studios plans.

Loewy said that the Moonfall situation is an outlier for the Mongrel-Lionsgate slate. There are no plans to alter any of the companys coming 2022 Lionsgate releases, including the new Nicolas Cage film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which is scheduled to open in Canadian theatres April 22.

But the predicament cannot exactly be comforting for Canadian moviegoers, especially when compounded by the news this week that another pending Hollywood release, the Channing Tatum vehicle Dog, is also skipping this countrys theatres. (It is no longer being released by Canadian distributor Elevation Pictures. Currently, U.S. distributor MGM has the film scheduled to open stateside Feb. 18, though a studio representative did not immediately reply to a query from The Globe.)

Im always a bit nervous with whats happening with release schedules, but the trajectory of the pandemic lends itself to more certainty there than not, added Landmarks Walker. If we look at the U.S. and Europe, we can see where the pandemic restrictions are going, where consumer confidence is going. Those are encouraging global signs for us.

Eventually, mercifully, Canadians will be able to discover just why Moonfall star Patrick Wilson is compelled in the films trailer to utter the already immortal line, If the moon really is what you think it is ... suit up!

But until then, the only disaster we have to enjoy is the Canadian movie industry itself.
