The US doesn't necessarily need to ban alcohol, but it definitely needs a huge cultural shift on it.

Why? Alcohol isn't causing significant harm to most people.

Do you ever stop trolling or is trolling this website one of your favourite hobbies?

Canada, the US, Australia all have a stupidly high % of vehicle deaths related to alcohol. Coincidentally, all 3 are countries where culturally alcohol is promoted as the key to having a good time and binge drinking is glorified.

What about Russia?

It's like 45% or something, the worst in Europe. Even France's is like 29% of all vehicle-related deaths involve alcohol crazily enough.

South Africa's is like 60% >_>

The US has one of the worst rates for alcohol-related vehicle deaths for developed countries (as a percentage of all vehicle-related road deaths). Obviously that's correctable given the UK has roughly half the rate and Germany less than a third, but it clearly requires a cultural shift in how alcohol is viewed and consumed.

I don't know what statistics you're using, nor am I in position atm to look them up, but I'm curious if the rate is really alarmingly high compared to those countries or if its in scale considering our population and driving statistics.

If the average American spends more time behind the wheel compared to the British or Germans and there's more of them driving instead of using public transportation, it would make sense that vehicle deaths, including alcohol related ones, would be proportionally higher.

It's a direct comparison of alchol-related vehicle deaths as a percent of all vehicle deaths. Comparing rates, not straight up numbers.

US is at about 30 or 31% of vehicle-related deaths involving alcohol. UK is about 16% and Germany is about 9%.

I really don't get your point.

Because guns and alcohol are the same thing. Nice comparison mate.

Over 10k people are killed each year by a drunk driver and over a million are killed by cars.

didnt know there were so many pychos out there running people over with their cars

That one million figure isn't right if he's talking US-only. If you were losing a million people per year that'd be ridiculous.

In any given year there's about 35k vehicle-related fatalities in the US. The over 10k figure for alcohol-related deaths is correct.

That still isn't "most people".

Reminder that opioids are supposedly "controlled substances" and they cause a stupidly high # of deaths

People are idiots when it comes to addictive substances, who knew!

And why does it need a qualifier of "most people"? The US has one of the worst rates for alcohol-related vehicle deaths for developed countries (as a percentage of all vehicle-related road deaths). Heck, these idiots took a regular sled to the same track in cool runnings and even they didn't fly off the track (the just crashed into a wall and died)

Yes they hit a wall and died because...they flew off the track!

In the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver a Georgian Luger died during a practice run because he flew off the track on a turn and smashed into a support beam.

hey tc what about the requirement that you be born in the u.s.? that seems more unreasonable than the 35 y.o. requirment

Why?

It says natural-born citizen. That means its someone who was a citizen the moment they were born. Why should we, or any other country, have a non-citizen or foreign citizen be the leader of said country?

Because there's multiple countries that legitimately don't have that requirement. Canada and Australia are two of them.

35-65 should be the age range tbh. Maybe cap it at 70.

And thats the age for when youre elected. Youre not immediately kicked out if you hit the cap, you just cant get re-elected.

I'd rather have it be that you can't run at all if you're going to hit the age cap while you're in office.

And add in # of term limits like Presidents do (although I would give more terms than 2 obviously).

And you can serve in the House and be a Senator (at different times obviously) but both count towards a single # of terms limit.

Basically ensure the government is actually being refreshed, and stop people like Mitch McConnell having a hand in US Policy for 32 years.

Are you just buying the shit being spewed by the Federal PCs on the Carbon Tax? It's literally a tax designed to reduce people's usage of the stuff it's applied to, meaning that the amount of money it brings in is expected to fall year-over-year. BC successfully implemented a carbon tax like a dozen years ago, and even literal fucking Preston Manning is in favour of carbon tax as a concept.

When the information about that made it to the administration they reviewed it and then demodded him and closed the account he stole. I don't see how you can say they tried to ignore it. The site can't have someone who stole an account be a mod for quite obvious reasons.

I sure as shit wish he didn't do it though as he was good at the actual modding part. =P

Yeah but it took weeks and Krystal kept shutting down almost all discussion regarding it. I don't know when Allen stepped into it but from a user perspective it was handled fairly poorly.

Nobody ever accused Krystal of being good at her job.

Right, but she was part of "the administration" and was actively an antagonist to the whole thing the entire time.
