Kronlid was elected anyway, with 174 votes in the second vote.

Riksdagen is voting for Speaker, 1st Vice Speaker and 2nd Vice Speaker today.

The popular Conservative Andreas Norln was re-elected as Speaker with support from all 8 parties.

Socialdemocrat Kenneth G Forslund was elected 1st Vice Speaker with similar support.

However, the vote for 2nd Vice Speaker gave majority for no one so a second vote will be held. The second vote doesnt require majority but the person with the most votes gets the position.

The four parties which lean Right got 176 seats vs 173 seats for the four parties which lean Left after the election on September 11th. Three of those 176 MPs voted against Nationalist candidate Julia Kronlid who has written anti-abortion bills and made Creationist remarks.

Ulf Kristersson, the Conservative leader, should be worried. He looks set to become the new PM but his hold on power require the 176 Conservatives, Nationalists, Christian Democrats and Liberals to see eye to eye. The opposition against Julia Kronlid, in the first vote in the new Riksdag, show cracks in their unity already.

Nobody wanted to work with SD last time.
Now they are part of the block, so it will go faster.
That said, things can change with the Wednesday votes.

Something which could gum things up for Kristersson is eventual Liberal MPs. Like the LUF leader Romina. She is likely to get one of their seats and she is extremely anti-SD. For Magdalena it would be getting V and C to collaborate.

We have so called negative parliamentarism so you could technically be elected with 0 MPs voting yes for you, but you CANNOT have a majority vote no against you.

So the result is very complex.

5 outta 8 parties lose support compared to 2018.

The incumbent Socialdemocrats and the nationalist Sverigedemokraterna have great elections. The Green party also grow.

The Far-Left, Neoliberals, Liberals, Christian Democrats and Conservatives lose support. The traditional Right is kinda demolished. They governed Sweden 2006-2014 and now they are weak AF, completely dependent on the Nationalists.

The Conservatives also lose their traditional position as 2nd largest party. The 4 parties which have supported the Conservative leader for PM currently have 1 more seat than the 4 parties which support sitting PM Magdalena Andersson however! 175 vs 174.

What will Sverigedemokraterna do now that they are largest party on the Right-wing side? And what will the Liberals do?

On Wednesday late post votes and votes from Swedes living abroad will be counted. So to be continued <______>

Im doing it in two parts and the first one has gone very well. Currently live with a friend until I get access to my own apartment in November. So my furniture and such are in storage until then.
