just call the company and file the claim then. they'll handle the rest for you. your policy doesn't need to get involved and the most they'll probably ask is if you did file a claim. i'd just reply that you weren't found at fault so you're pursuing a liability claim and are not involving your policy.

So, my policy and the other person's policy are through the same company. Can this cause complications?

i wouldn't. you don't need to inform your insurance company if you've been in an accident and filed a claim through the other party's policy.

it shouldn't affect your license but that's not an insurance question. minor accidents where you aren't ticketed are no big deal.

idk about your vehicle history. i would assume it would show up on carfax? not sure. this isn't an insurance question either.

if you report a claim to your company and there is no accident forgiveness your rates could go up

if it's only a few hundred dollars of damage it may not even meet your deductible depending what you set. most people have $500.

So, I contact the other person's company, and file something against their policy. Never reference mine?

I was in a low speed car accident. No one was harmed (the most important thing). I have minor body damage on my car, but it seems to run fine. The other driver admitted fault and this is reflected in the police report.

Should I report this to my insurance? I can't imagine the damage is more than a few hundred dollars. Will this affect my license, will this affect my vehicle history, will this affect my policy if I reported it for compensation?
