On the other hand, you can put on as much clothing as you want as long as you can move. Only so much can come off until the cops get involved.

If you've ever slept outside without a fire or some other heat source in below freezing weather you know it sucks worse than 100 degree heat.

-15 F is WAY below freezing. Eventually the clothes you are wearing to stay warm are also frozen.

-15 is vastly more deadly for a human being than 100 degrees.

You could literally be but naked with a decent source of water to drink and survive for decades in 100 degree heat but if you did the same in -15 degrees for a few hours and were brought back into normal temperatures you would lose all your extremities to frostbite IF you survive.

It isn't about the processor the switch doesn't have a graphics card because of course it doesn't, the average graphics card is larger than the console itself.

If you look at the Witcher 3 on the switch it looks worse than the Witcher 3 running on a PC from 2009 because of course it does.

Maybe I'm exagerrating by going back to the 360 but in a lot of ways with the GPU at least I'm not. Its a phone basically. It isn't even at laptop level stuff its a phone.

The US has a mix of professional style fireworks shows and random fucking people just lighting shit off legal or not in neighborhoods across the country.

In Colorado the meme since I was a kid was that people would ride up to Wyoming and buy fuck tons of fireworks at stands rights across the border and that still happens to this day. Colorado, even in places without a draught, never allows people to set stuff off that rises above the ground without it being part of an official fireworks show but every single year you see some blasting off around my area because Wyoming totally does allow random people to buy those sorts of fireworks.

I feel a bit weird because the only unvaccinated guy on my team at work (software development) just got back from the country jam.

Its a big event but it is at least mostly out doors. The numbers I've seen for the "outbreak" are actually pretty low. A couple dozen out of thousands of people.

Just as a note this being "in Colorado" doesn't meant that its anywhere close to the populated areas. Its a 4 hr + drive to get there from Denver one way. You could drive from New York City to Washington DC in less time. Its a drive of several hundred miles over the rocky mountains to get there from any major city.

I never really thought about the difficulty of this process because my Dad started taking me to the gym when I was about 11 years old and I went through this then and that was just a standard thing in your life. Dad teaches you how to do something you didn't know.

My advice would be:

Start with a very low weight on the machines that don't have free weights. Basically anything with cables and get comfortable with the basic motions of the exercise at a low speed and increase the weight.

The whole point of those machines is to make it hard to fuck things up.

I understand why stereotypes point towards an outcome with the government mowing down thousands of black people BUT that didn't happen anywhere in the US this past summer through all the BLM rallies no matter how violent they got. Not a single police officer went berserk and opened up on a crowd.

The capitol riot was gross but it was ultimately the kind of riot that could be pushed back by shooting dead exactly one person. Which is what happened in real life. It wasn't exactly storming the bastille or some battle.

Its the fact that they can buy something that expensive and most of the people around them cant. Plus, its a luxury SUV from BMWthats flashy for most people.

I have to also add that in some cases it is a tremendously irresponsible financial decision as are all BMW's. Like "should I get a 7 year old X7 or a brand new Honda Pilot with all the trimmings?"

3 years later for the pilot with about $500 in maintenance costs and 3 years later for the BMW with about $15,000.

BMW's aren't lemons or bad cars by any means but when they do have issues of any kind and it happens at about the rates of a Honda or any other decent car it costs 3-5 times as much to fix. Its going to happen if you own the car over the long term which is why they are a shit thing to buy used.

I actually hate Python because of its performance issues, dynamic typing, use of indents to indicate blocks of code, and some other things. It's a decent learning language, I suppose, but particularly the lack of type notation doesn't force beginners to think enough about their datatypes and I think that'll come back to bite them. Python's excuse for enforcing indents is to get programmers into good habits, but formatters can do that stuff automatically. Meanwhile it's harder for tools to automatically determine what the intent of the programmer is with dynamic typing (e.g. did you mean to assign a string to a variable that held a number or was it a goof?).

I support Python as a foot in the door language and then you move to something like C++, Java, or C# (Microsoft Java) for Data structures level stuff. IDE's help a lot with telling people "wait a second this type returned doesn't match this type you are expecting" as they are coding.

I disagree with it being a bad starter language. There is a lot of confidence and basic programming skills to be gained by having someone do things like the TC is doing (taking inputs, assigning them to variables, and then doing something, even prints with the outputs) or working with lists or arrays or whatever data structures.

The indentation mattering stuff is super annoying but it actually does help someone that is learning to program in terms of teaching them to write code that is readable and if you are doing it in an IDE (which you should be if you are under the age of 50) you should be auto formatting every line you write anyways to see what indentation it is at.

I just watched it.

  1. The premise was a bit silly and the plot had tons of holes in it but that's to be expected in a sci fi time travel movie.
  2. The third act felt like a tremors movie to me which felt a bit silly.
  3. The action was good, the creatures were cool as enemies, the acting was actually a lot better than I expected it would be. Chris Pratt was once again good in the role of an everyman superhero type, Yvonne Stahovsky was great, and JK Simmons was awesome even though he was only in the movie for a tiny portion of the run time.

China has no voting rights compared the to the US, they have millions of people from a religious/ethnic minority locked away in concentration camps, and they discriminate against anyone and everyone that deviates from normal and they are about to be the top economic, military and political power on the planet.

There isn't some magic rule that says that anti-racist pro democracy nice powers will e the most powerful successful countries we support them because they are morally right.

I'm talking about a community retaliating against an institution that buried undocumented native children in mass graves for decades, because the neglect or outright abuse levelled at those children by that institution led to their deaths. Not to mention the thousands of people who survived, but who now live with intense trauma stemming from their treatment in those facilities.

Get the fuck outta here with that "community's place of worship" horseshit. Faithful Catholics will find a way to worship without an ornate building with a bunch of fancy trinkets. Faith comes from within. But the wounds inflicted on the indigenous population of Canada will never heal, both in regards to the people who experienced those conditions and survived, and to the people who died there.

You can build a new church. Catholicism is in no real risk, their teachings and the faith of their flocks are unharmed. You can't get those children back, you can't fix the people who survived the attempt to forcibly assimilate them through abuse and squalid living conditions, and you can't heal the damage done to indigenous culture through the meddling of the Catholic church.

What about members of the native community that are catholic and had their church burned down?

And I'll reiterate that this was the policy of the government of Canada but instead of pointing the finger at Canada and the church many of you are pointing it exclusively at the Church.

Yeah it was a different time back then. Most GTA clones were absolute dog shit. Saints Row while having an uninspired concept had fun gameplay and was the first 'next gen' open world crime game. Those ragdoll physics in a game like GTA along with an actual functional control scheme was even a step above GTA at the time. GTAIV was still a couple of years away. It was the perfect game at the perfect time.

I'm not saying I hate the series. The developers are great. The games are great.

I just stand on the side of the fence that it got better not worse when it got silly with 3 and 4 and they got to have some fun.

I'm on the side of the fence that mercilessly mocks the man children that played Saints Row 3 or 4 and said something along the lines lines of "yo why they gotta add all this silly sci fi comical stuff to my totally realistic fantasy of a white boy leading a gang of gang bangers running Stilwater city yo?"

To be honest. This is the studio that made the Descent Free Space and Red Faction games and they just threw out a YOLO shameless copy of the GTA games that came off as a 'Malibu Most Wanted' style game to most people but it wasn't actually bad at all because the developers actually had a lot of talent.

I get I'm old but when this game came out the game was lampooned for basically being the "insert slur for white people pretending to be black" version of GTA.
