I had gotten to a pretty bad point from my point of view. Like 8-10 drinks a night (mostly hard selzers with 5% alcohol) and assumed quitting would be tough but on the fourth night right now not having had anything to drink I haven't felt anything except boredom as a symptom and I've managed that by gaming. Worked every day this week and I've actually felt fresher waking up than when I was drinking.

Is this it?

I actually had a bully that challenged me to fight in 8th grade that was a lot shorter and lighter than me and I wasn't feeling great about it but when I showed up and the time and place after school the guy just didn't show.

Part of what made/makes WoW a bit toxic is that its so obvious who is failing to contribute especially when it comes to things like a rage mechanic (rage mechanics usually trigger when the fight has gone on too long because the party members aren't doing enough damage).

My read on this situation is that some students that are majoring in being a victim decided to protest the existence of this rock and said "you are racist if you don't move this" and the University agreed to move it because I guess BLM was really big back then and they couldn't find some actual racist thing they could fix by just hiring some dudes to move a rock so they did this.

This isn't always true. My best buddy growing up was an Asian fellow that drove from Colorado to Washington state to hook up with a girl in his WoW guild. Months later, very preggo, she told him "It's your baby" and he damn near ad a heart attack and then the baby popped out decidedly not Asian and she ended up admitting that it wasn't his.

max unemployment benefits in Nebraska is $456 a week, or $11.40 an hour for 40 hours. The governor ended the extra unemployment early which didnt really do shit for the unemployment rate here. Minimum wage in Nebraska is $9.00 an hour. If no ones hiring for 40 hours at at least $11.40 an hour then youd be fucking dumb to not stay unemployed until wages increase or you find a place paying enough.

Nebraska literally has the lowest unemployment rate in the entire country at 2.3%.

In Colorado we are at 6.2%. Looking around us at states that ended the enhanced benefit on our orders I see Utah at 2.6%, Kansas at 3.8% along with Nebraska. It's time to end it.

Some of the responses in this topic prove the point that the incentives need to end. You shouldn't be proudly leeching from the rest of society and if you are you should totally understand when the hammer comes down and your benefits end.

I went to CU Boulder 2012-2016 and my stem (mostly Comp Sci)courses had 0% politics involved and my humanities courses were things like history of the Roman Empire, a course where we studied to history of human aviation and 'human factors in aviation' and did presentations on what caused airline crashes.

I had a course called "Quest for Excellence" in the humanities for engineers department (basically humanities courses taught in the ungodly 660,000 square foot Engineering center building/complex at CU) that had us learning about the origins and values of early western civilization. We read the Iliad and had an astronaut faculty member and a guy that had a guy that piloted medivac choppers in Nam talking to us as guest speakers.

That being said I would strongly oppose adding an ethnic studies requirement to the college of engineering which I've heard some other university systems have.

Its more of an early unlock than a rental if you have Disney+. There isn't some time window where you can watch the movie. That being said if you have Disney Plus eventually a few months from now it will end up being 'free' even if you didn't pay to unlock it.

When I took care of tiny dogs I would just lift them high in the air and stare at them when they ignored me when I told them to stop doing something (barking usually). That gets their attention and helps them realize their position in the general scheme of things.

Laptop cooling pads are mostly just noisemakers. Any sort of laptop stand that gives the underside some room the breath is all that actually is needed for most gaming laptops. Cooling pads do this but the fans are mostly for show.

It depends on a lot of factors.

Realize that West Virginia is both one of the poorest states in the country (48th only ahead of Arkansas and Mississippi) and the state with the highest rate of home ownership out of all 50 states.

Just take care with it man. One drop can kill a $2,500 laptop just as easy as a $400 one man. When I was living the gaming laptop life I only ever carried it in a cushioned case for this reason.

Sentience itself isn't a scientific concept. Its philosophical.

Think about it like this. Most people value the life of 2 month old infant human vastly more than an adult pig. The pig is smarter.

There isn't some scientifically defined moment where a fetus becomes a "real human being". It's a philosophical question.

Science absolutely can measure sentience. For instance, a bundle of cells with no nervous system has zero sentience.

And at what point does the bundle of cells become a human being? The point where killing it would make us feel icky?

It isn't a scientific question. Sentience or value of a life isn't something we can measure

Elder Scrolls has honestly gotten a lot better as its aged and it isn't oversaturated at all in terms of the mainline. Been 10 years since Skyrim. Crazy as that sounds.

Lots of non English speaking places do this. Especially the ones that were ruled by the British/USA.

Singapore is an interesting one. English is the common language but a lot of people speak some sort of pidgin version of it with lots of Chinese or other languages mixed in, some can speak in well, and some speak it somewhere in the middle. Example from wikipedia.

India, Pakistan, and the Philippines come to mind though they were actually all colonized by English speakers. You actually see it a decent amount in Japanese and Korean shows as well.

That is a thing in countries with with sewage systems that are less robust than the US that really can't handle a lot of toilet paper.

Its a bit weird but airports are a bit weird.

Actually watching the video it says that he did this in an airline lounge which actually makes a bit more sense because those tend to be way less crowded than other areas in the airport. Also calling it simply a "dining area" ignores that these spots are generally set up to just be a place for chilling between flights.
