Yup, any reasonable person when laid off would have been looking for a new job. People had plenty of time to do that. I know at least 3 people who got laid off when covid started. It was devastating because they needed the benefits for their kids. These are average earning workers with a bachelors degree. They aggressively looked for jobs and got them. This is before the vaccine and before practically every place is hiring.

max unemployment benefits in Nebraska is $456 a week, or $11.40 an hour for 40 hours. The governor ended the extra unemployment early which didnt really do shit for the unemployment rate here. Minimum wage in Nebraska is $9.00 an hour. If no ones hiring for 40 hours at at least $11.40 an hour then youd be fucking dumb to not stay unemployed until wages increase or you find a place paying enough.

I agree with the leeching part, but I also disapprove of corporate leechers wanting cheap labor.

If you can't stand citizens leeching, but are okay with corporations leeching the labor force that's hypocritical.

Nebraska literally has the lowest unemployment rate in the entire country at 2.3%.

In Colorado we are at 6.2%. Looking around us at states that ended the enhanced benefit on our orders I see Utah at 2.6%, Kansas at 3.8% along with Nebraska. It's time to end it.
