This is the second game of the Voice of Cards trilogy. Unlike the first game which has you taking a typical RPG party through various areas, this game has two permanent party members that travel to various islands, helping some temporary party members with various tasks on each island. The game is mostly without much challenge, until the final boss which has one part which took me a few tries. Though I haven't yet tried the bonus boss yet, since it unlocks after beating the game.

I'm happy to report that the bonus boss is definitely the hardest challenge in the game, requiring multiple tries and a ton of items. The main issue was that there's two enemies in the fight and with some of the maiden pairs that you can use, the two enemies go back to back and wipe the entire party with AoE spells. Using the Ivory Maiden and her attendant gave me a turn in between the two (and both of them had party healing skills) so I could react to whatever the first enemy did. Once one enemy fell, it was smooth sailing afterwards.

Besides that, the game tasks you with collecting every card in the game - items, characters, enemies, equipment, etc. The enemies were the real problem - except for bosses, every enemy needs to be fought four or more times, and there's one enemy that only appears in a world map event, and is also rare to even spawn in that event - usually another enemy takes its place. I did the grind for that event in NG+ since it gives an equipment piece that removes the random encounters and only spawns the world map events. I am actually kind of annoyed at how many rare spawn enemies I've had to look for at the end of games nowadays, but I should expect this from Yoko Taro given the spawn rate of some enemies in NieR Automata.

I've already downloaded the third Voice of Cards game, but I'll probably hold of on it for a while - there's a lot of other games I've been beating and cleaning up the trophy lists for. This is just one of them!

I think its funny that all of the Vocaloids in this song, particularly the main male one, sound like they have head colds. The mixing is also not great at parts; the vocals sound buried behind the instrumental. That said I really like the BIG CLAP ENERGY throughout, and the enthusiasm and happiness in the chorus is infectious.

There's only one Vocaloid in this song! The others are actual singers

Continuing the pixel remaster titles as I play through them in order. I still am not much of a fan of the level-up system in this game so I turned on all the boosts to finish in just a bit over 12 hours - similar to FFI in that a few hours were spent looking for the rare enemy at the end of the game (the Iron Giant) which took hundreds of battles to find. Other than that, the platinum is pretty straightforward, just have to be aware of the missable enemies, chests, passwords, and locations as the game progresses, and get a weapon and magic spell to max level. Always nice to see Minwu and Ricard again, as well.

Time to jump into Final Fantasy III soon as the next TrueTrophies target in March requires a 3 somewhere in the trophy or game name, and III does count for that!

I have too many level up books. At least I finally got Black Swan yesterday so I can use some of them on her.

Blade and Clara both like the aggro boost from Lynx but I don't have either, so I just left her at 50 while I leveled up other characters. Like Bailu

Wildfire has never been that high on my list of HSR songs either to be honest.

It is also a song that's much better in-context I think. The lyrics and general tone of the song fit the boss fight very well and also the climax is timed to the boss's big attack which is very cool.

The Old Gods of Asgard songs do get a lot of the focus, but there's plenty of music in both Alan Wake games that they have no involvement in.

Gepard is nice for easy clears of the side paths of Simulated Universe since the Preservation path is completely broken if he's your sustain.

Again, I now have all the Love Live games on PSN completed, which will last for four days since another one is releasing this week. Hooray! Though I sure hope that game turns out better than this one, since it was pretty average overall.

It's really weird going from a really amazing Metroidvania (having beaten Castlevania: Symphony of the Night a few days ago) to this one, which is still fun but the difference is definitely startling. I still enjoyed the character interactions (as sparse as they were) and the ending sequence, including the boss rush at the end of the game. It is a very easy game overall - the only boss that really gave me trouble was the one on the Shipwreck, which was a bit of an annoyance due to the small amount of time you can actually attack him. I went into the ending sequence with more than enough potions to make it through, and still had plenty left after beating the final boss. Platinum doesn't require anything more than completing each character's sidequest, which you will do if you get all the chests in the eight areas the characters are rescued in (which I did).

Finally finished up the Penacony main quest and the companion mission, so now I can read all the black bars in this topic! And my trophy list is back at 100%, which is the important thing of course. Now to see if I can get enough jades before the end of the month so I can still get Black Swan, so far 62 pulls in after losing the 50/50.

Oh I didn't know Eric's mom was the one who died. I'd got the rest. So I guess you can connect Junpei to the snail through Akane's connection, and stretching it further to Team D... What about Carlos? And I don't get why Eric was brought in. He never even discovers that Mira killed his mother!

A couple other qs- in the 'inject rad-6 or not' scene in Team Q, I'm sure there were only 3 vials of the virus. Now Sean wouldn't need it but at that time none of them knew this, so what happened there? And in the very opening scene, is Q supposed to be 'trapped' with Mira, Eric, and Sean? If so, who is the Zero that appears? Is it just a Seanclone reading a pre-recorded message?

The choice to inject Radical-6 or not only had 3 vials of the virus because Delta/Q did not use the fingerprint authentication device that Sean, Mira, and Eric did during the puzzle, which is what the recorded message from Delta said infected them with the other virus. So Delta would not need the vial anyway.

It's probably Delta himself. Carlos seems to recognize him at the end of the opening scene before getting put to sleep.

The snail story is as follows:

A woman (Eric's mom) saw a snail on her daily run, and ended up taking a different path because of it. Mira was waiting on this path and killed her. Akane's father was arrested as the culprit and sentenced to the death penalty, and Akane's mother committed suicide due to grief. This caused the events of 999 and the rest of the trilogy to happen.

Akane's father at the time had called a taxi, but did not take it due to the arrest. Instead, the taxi driver picked up a surgeon heading to the hospital, and got into an accident killing both of them. The surgeon was to operate on a young boy named Sean, who the robot is based off of. Since the surgery never happened, Sean died instead.
