I can empathize with that. When covid first started I gained a little bit of weight, I was eating so much fast food lmao. But I started dieting and I've lost 18 lbs so far. I was never an overly fat guy, weighed about 190 at my peak.

That's about what I'm at now, 190. Used to be around 175. I still do calisthenics, probably even more intensely since I'm not using energy on swimming, but calisthenics don't do nearly enough to control my weight compared to swimming. Especially since I love food, beer and energy drinks

In a lap pool? Before Covid-19 I was swimming 5 times a week. I've put on a few pounds since I hate running so I didn't replace it with anything

I can't really kill Lucario when he gets to that high a percent, it's too risky to approach. I have to go for rest kills before he reaches 100% since Lucario can't really be edgeguarded well. Seems like a bad MU for Puff

Yeah, GGs while it lasted. The last two nights have been more enjoyable than the few times prior for whatever reason. Like even when the game turns to shit online, I just move on and do something else instead of already feeling agitated about it. Wish I could play Melee instead now, but I cant because of my cpu being old.

You really should invest in one, man. I need to do the same, though my laptop runs it smoothly most of the time I do still drop frames enough that it's annoying

It's not even like Llyod mine is an incredible move anyway. Yeah it's good, you probably pretty much always want one set if you can, but it has a lot of issues. I think it's not great against rush down characters, it takes a good half second to set a mine and a character like Inkling or Falcon will oftentimes punish you hard for that. Sure, if you're camping hard enough you can create your own opportunities, but it's not always a viable option. Isabelle's slingshot is good but it's basically all she has to zone besides the mine IIRC, and it's really not that hard to work around. (Edit: I forgot about fishing rod though you can hardly consider that a zoning tool, I think it's really only useful for ledge trapping). There's also the fact that the mine is very easy to destroy. I've always had the feeling that setting it between stocks is pretty pointless since an invincible opponent can just walk over it to destroy it. Although it is a good way to make them waste their invincibility by setting it in one area and then retreating to another, since they have to make the choice to either attack you or destroy the mine.

Also something I don't really see you do Hannibal IIRC is set mines on the platforms, seems to me that could be good especially if you set them in a way that's awkward for the character you're fighting to destroy them. For example, Falcon can destroy them with d-tilt but he needs a good amount of space to do it (though I guess if they're on a plat you can just destroy it with an up air? But you could maybe time the release of the mine to catch them as they're trying to do that, idk)

I know how you feel, ZeRo was someone I followed almost daily for at least the last few months. I really thought he was a good guy, especially with all those tournaments he made for the prodigy kids. Makes me feel like I'm a bad judge of character.

Edit: All the videos he did when the online tournament was added where he would invade it with the same character and when he would pose as someone else in someone's stream revealing he was ZeRo at the end...I loved those, some of the funniest Smash content I've seen. It's a shame.

Setting up all that stuff to play Melee is exponentially easier than playing Melee well, trust me. I would love to play you if you ever end up doing it, though. As you probably know by now I love providing whatever insight I have, even if it is from a mid-level perspective.

Is Lucario really that bad? I know Mewtwo was probably that bad before but even after the buffs? I thought Link and Ken were considered high tier by most people? Is Icies really that bad or is it more just that they're too technical to be properly represented in tournament?

Other than that stuff I mostly agree with the list, Hannibal already raised the point about Pit being higher than Inkling. I mean I get nobody plays Inkling at top level but they probably still belong in the "top tier but balanced" category. Maybe towards the bottom of it, but still. And I thought almost everyone agreed Pit was incredibly average, he was buffed that significantly?

Edit: I also wonder what people think about Ike's buffs and nerfs in regards to how it might have changed his place on the tier list. The nair nerf seems like it hurts a lot, did the other buffs make up for it?

I signed up for the tournament, but I ended up deciding to take the DQ. I didn't realize how big this tournament was, and a lot of the good players were in wumbos discord. I didn't like what I was hearing in the discord, I kept hearing shit like "my bracket is easy, I'm basically top 16 already lmao" and just a lot of elitist to stuff like that, and a lot of people were complaining about their seading position. It gave me a bad taste in my mouth tbh. So I asked the TO's to DQ me.

I don't blame you for that, fuck elitism. Those same people would claim you used cheap tactics if you won or something like that.

Lmk if you wanna play, usually I'd play Melee but I haven't messed around with buffed Falcon enough

I can definitely understand how a Nidoking run would be more annoying due to the need for stocking up on ethers and x accuracies, especially since you can't buy ethers IIRC. Still I feel like there's enough lying around, you have to visit the Center sometimes anyway. And you really only need the Horn Drill strat for the hard battles like Rival and Gym Leaders and such, especially since you'll be doing more battles than a speed run would.

I find it hard to believe that Wartortle competes with Nidoking in the early game, though. You get Nidoking in Mt. Moon and it has a 505 base stat total compared to Wartortle's 405. Beyond that, Nidoking has around 40 more attack and 30 more speed which matters a lot. I don't really feel like looking up special differences since it's different in gen 1 but I assume they're comparable. Thrash also has way more power than anything Wartortle has. Sure Bite is fine, but it's not like it's super effective against Misty in gen 1. If it was I could see your point, as is though I just don't see any advantage for Wartortle over Nidoking

Edit: Also you keep mentioning that the Squirtle line has Beam Dig but isn't Bolt Beam just better, which Nidoking has access to?
