I wonder if they could just replace the buttpad on them with some sort of silly brace and call them pistols, that way it wouldn't need to be 922r compliant and it wouldn't look nearly as silly. Or even just do away with the pad and replace it with just a plate so it actually operates.

I think a brace looks more silly than a long barrel. There are some that look ok.

Youre Canadian right? I think the SKS is a great first gun. 10 round standard so its not modded to hold less, 7.62x39 is available and affordable in Canada from whats Ive read. Its a fun round to shoot, not a lot of recoil. I think you all can get Russian SKSs still too. Im partial to Soviet designed guns though.

Been debating trading my AR for an X95, but I'm still not sure. I had the older Tavor for a while but it kinda grew tiresome. Didn't like how far the charging handle stuck out.

Local shop has an X95 but its overpriced. I wouldnt mind having one but Im not willing to pay what they go for. I did look at it and considered it. Nice feeling gun.

Here is a visual if it helps. The PS-90 on the left has a 16 barrel, while the AR-15 on the right has a 10 barrel, both shown with a blue line from chamber to barrel end. The longer barrel helps with accuracy and the velocity on the projectile. It does those things while allowing an overall shorter firearm.

The carbine I bought is a PS-90, the US Civilian legal version of the FN Herstal P-90. It's a bullpup design, which means the action is behind the trigger. It is fully ambidextrous, every control (safety selector, charging handle, mag release and back up iron sights) are on both sides of the gun so it can be used equally as well by both left and right-handed shooters. Empty casings eject at the back of the gun and they eject directly down. Standard mags are 50 rounds, it fires 5.7x28mm, I kinda like to think of it as a baby 5.56x45 round (standard M16/M4 ammo). I posted an image of the box because it's the nicest gun box I've ever got a gun in. It's gorgeous.

Slightly related, but my MPX Carbine has only 1 point for a sling, should I keep it that way or add a second point? I've been hearing answers both ways.

Your call, I personally like two point slings. I tried a single point on one of my AK's and one of my AR's. I found the gun to be floppy in front of me.

I'm more of a traditionalist though, usually only use a sling to carry the rifle on my shoulder. You can adjust a 2 point sling so it cradles the rifle in front of you.

ETA: I bought a new gun yesterday, a rather nice PDW. I bought it online though so I'm waiting for it to ship. I'll tag you when I post pics.
