Yo, Lasa. Noticed you had mentioned Civilization Phaze III (iirc) recently and am stoked to see this topic. Ive been a Zappa fan longer than Ive been playing video games, even, ever since my dad introduced me to songs like, Hungry Freaks, Daddy, Elvis Has Just Left the Building, and Lets Make the Water Turn Black. In my teens when I began listening to music more intentionally, one of the first albums I chose to focus on, somewhat spontaneously, was The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life, and have been inching toward discog completism ever since. Among my enduring favorites are Absolutely Free, The Man from Utopia (big fan of The Dangerous Kitchen and anything written in that style), and Jazz from Hell (all the Synclavier output is priceless).

What I admire most about listening to Zappa today is that it puts into perspective how much of recorded music is so reliant on putting its cathartic or emotionally-resonant aspects at the forefront, and how that can be limiting. A lot of other experimental rock, while often full of exotic sounds and hysterical intensity, is usually more deliberate in choreographing its dramatic intent than most of what Zappa was doing; broad sonic palettes, unusual juxtaposition of elements, often extraordinarily difficult to parse conceptually. For that reason, Zappa ends up not being music I want to put on at a moment's notice a lot of the time these days, but as a dabbling musician I definitely try to remember those lessons of sonic and creative depth of field. Going to read your song writeups soon and hopefully will learn a lot.

It's way more fun than most bad movies. In 7th grade one of my classmates put that it was his favorite film for an assignment and I was like respect. At that age I was just so happy to see the sheer amount of dumb obscure MK characters on the silver screen regardless of quality. To this day, the mention of Kabal and Stryker makes me laugh.

I was disappointed that in response to a benign remark that wasn't meant to convey anything beyond mutual dislike of a movie trailer, you thought it appropriate to follow up with 2 abhorrent, thoroughly unnecessary terms. In general, I had been warming up to your hyperactive posting style as of late and certainly don't want anyone to bully you. However, that is a likely outcome if you are willing to use hateful language for shock value and lack the restraint not to do (seemingly) out of character things that make people reluctant to harbor any goodwill toward you.

Good episode. Carl, Davie, and Nick are who I'm rooting for. It would be neat if that alliance sticks together, but I'll be surprised if it's still a thing two episodes from now. I doubt Christian considers any of them among his closest allies despite the idol play.

There has probably never been a pettier reason for me to (nearly) sour on an otherwise likable contestant than when Nick named his alliance with Mike "The Rockstars" because of the School of Rock connection. Like, Mike is a writer and it doesn't occur to you how awkwardly trite that name is? Fortunately Nick has only continued to prove that he's a decent and humble person.

Loved every moment; could not stop thinking about the game until I finished it. Maintains a uniquely eerie sense of isolation, while the frequent feelings of accomplishment from piecing together the mystery provide breaks in the tension. The characters and situations are smartly inventive without being trendy or gimmicky. Just a lot of wellconsidered design choices that made an unforgettable impression.
