I think its more just a case of them having Scrooge McDuck money (no one knows what Valve is actually worth as theyre a private company, but my money is on tens of billions at least) and not seeing any need to do something that can probably only end badly for them, as the wait has been so long and expectations so high I dont see how they could satisfy most people.

I don't even remember the last time I paid for a AC game. I've found that if you're willing to just sit tight for a couple of years you'll eventually get it free one way or another.

That was mid way through season 10 or 11. First great episode in several seasons at that point and imo was when the show started getting a little of its groove back for the rest of the show.

The story you posted probably does sound like a dream scenario for some people, but you have to be very lucky and stumble into the opportunity. The odds of a young person buying in a cool market, then watching their equity explode in ten years as the market turns red-hot, and then cashing out to live the good life... are very slim.

Even if you *were* sitting on a mountain of equity that you could cash out tax-free (married couples get 500k tax-free gain on the sale of their primary home, single people get 250k), you'd still need to be willing to relocate far away, and many people have things preventing them from doing that.

I can actually use my brother's neighborhood as an example. In 2021, he bought a very modest house in an area of Los Angeles county that was clearly working class (mostly 3 bedrooms, all built before 1950), but since it's LA, these simple homes are still worth like 900k now. When I look around his street, I notice that all of his neighbors are normal blue-collar folks who bought these homes decades ago, when it was affordable for average-income earners to actually do that. They're now sitting on mountains of equity, yet hardly any of them move out.

All the areas around them have grown more expensive too, so like you said, they'd have to move to completely new places at this stage of their life. Also, their grown children, who usually live with them because they are priced out of getting their own places, would be totally screwed. So you have situations where the house is worth a million bucks, but it's a cluttered piece of crap with multiple generations living inside and like five cars parked outside.

Which is most likely the only reason why she was cast in the movie. They knew SbtB fans would want to see it just for her. I remember when it was being promoted and it was all about that.

Well I think the reboot with Gary Oldman is better than Robocop 3 at least.

The absolute worst ones are the 2 Canadian TV movies/mini-series. Black Robocop is Black. Get it it? Because he's Black.

If you live in rural area you can have one of those honest farm stands. Where you just put all this food out and say 5 dollars for a 5 apples. And have people put the money in a lock box. And get their apples.

It looks like a fake city because it IS a fake city. There is no real Gotham. These are just sets.

What they got right about it, though, was the architecture, dirtiness and overall tone.

It's actually one of my criticisms of the Nolan films. Though I much preferred them overall to every other Batman films, in 2 and 3 Gotham was just Chicago.
