"War on Terrorism", it was a social board back in the days of, well, the war on terrorism. I remember being a regular on that board (probably still a regular lurker though) back in its heyday in 2003-2004, and I never unsubscribed or whatever the term is, so it's been sitting in my board list ever since. It was rebranded to WOT at some point, and also hidden, it's literally categorized under "Hidden Boards". Makes me wonder how many other hidden boards there are, tbh.

It's pretty dead, though I remember they were speculating on their fate after 261 was shut down but yeah, the idea was they could fly under the radar because nobody would know about it, lol. That post kind of blew up their spot...

i mean I need to replay the original but the only post-Midgar disc 1 random enemy I can think of that wasn't included other than Tankceratops, is Ghirofelgo - guy in Shinra Mansion who's like, balancing on a swinging blade thing. and Tankceratops is way easier to include as an autonomous Shinra weapon.

disagree, I think it's great as a hiking track (the battle edit, while also good, not so much). Maybe biased from first experiencing it in-game but when I hear it now it makes me think of nature, coniferous trees, sunny days with clear blue skies. It makes me think of the promotional image with the party members overlooking the vast landscape of forests and mountains.

also the reason I'm popping back in here is I just got there on the OST and I'm pretty annoyed! Every so often on Remake OST they had a tendency to include cutscene (or whatever) buildup/denouement as part of a song. Beginning of Hell House and ending of Valkyrie were the worst travesties of that for me & my battle theme playlist, which I still listened to occasionally for the years afterwards even right up to Rebirth's release.

Now maybe Rebirth is doing that "unrelated music at beginning/end of a track" thing too but I haven't noticed until now, because I was waiting to hear this song in particular as arguably a top 5 song in the game for me. The official track is 4:35 in length but the first 54 seconds are crap buildup, I assume from the cutscene when you first reach the mountain. Unfuckingbelievable.

The crap buildup runs so long that you don't even hear the actual song on the official OST preview which ends after 45 seconds, feel free to compare it to the actual song embedded at post 261: https://www.jp.square-enix.com/music/sem/page/FF7rebirth/ost/assets/audio/Disc3-10.mp3

When I make my Rebirth battle theme playlist I am going to edit and cut out those first 54 seconds, damn. Super annoying.

It's interesting what they did with Cait, obviously the big differences are knowing he's a Shinra employee up front (whereas you didn't in the original), but writing out the Marlene & Elmyra kidnapping to force him to stick around, instead having him leave the party. Not letting your playable characters be monsters are probably good changes (and basically guarantees a much mellower Cid/Shera relationship in part 3)

I'd like to know how Rebirth sales are comparing to FF16 sales tbh. Probably still lower cuz sequel factor, but still.

Going to be debated for years to come, so many variables to weigh - sidequests, chocobos, music, atmosphere. Types of enemies too, I guess.

Junon and Grasslands for sheer consistency in all aspects I think, even though Nibel best chocobo, Gongaga best music, Corel best locations within region.

First of all, let's play taps and say farewell to the youtube link that had the Salmon fight song. Square Enix is coming for it now that the soundtrack's officially out there.

no kidding, the Rebirth playlist where I would throw any song I'd come across - literally all put together before i went on vacation so mid to late March, unofficial in-game rips - 100 songs in total and 64 of them are nuked, lol.

Chapter 14? like... the final boss sequence of songs? I'd take this game's ones over Remake's trio of Arbiter of Fate tracks, if anything they don't give me nearly as much of the final Sephiroth Reborn track as I'd like!

If you mean other stuff well, I'll see when I get there (currently paused somewhere in the gajillion QB tracks on the boat, lol).

spend 4 hours trying to get through Cait Sith solo challenge, try 2 different strategies I googled and none worked out. Give up, have supper, do youtube search, watch 1 video with a different strat. Try that strat, win it first try easily... almost enraging how that works out but just glad that's over with, at least. not going to dick around with last two legendary fights, ideally...

You know, it just speaks to the strength of the NPCs in the game, lol. He's a one-note character played to the maximum of that note! (also I am inflating his value too much due to his theme song)

in o.g. Mt. Corel there were various points where you could fall down the tracks and scooch over to one side or another to pick up prizes but that was about it special for that. other than that you went a screen over to hit the button to lower the drawbridge before doubling back but that's about it... you got totally mandela'd I think, lol.

The minecart is inspired by the original game, which did feature a minecart ride on Corel mountain.

uh.... no it didn't? unless I missed something for 26 years, lol. Or maybe you're referring to the train in disc 2.

that did remind me of another great attention to detail point, original game had a rising path on the tracks with a gap (with a treasure chest on one end and Transform materia on the other iirc) and that was replicated perfectly with the Barret path, nice. And the Gigatrice fight filling in for the optional "I'm taking the treasure" where all the characters say really weird lines, especially Barret, lol.

Track listing goes from the Roche battle theme to queens blood (boat) tracks so, not looking good for your song being on OST. Ideally it's a repeat from Remake or Intermission? Otherwise would need to wait for Plus soundtrack.

Ok just pulled up someone's stream and I dont recall this song pre-Rebirth so yeah, unless it's out of place on OST, going to need to wait. Whenever I listen through soundtrack I'll keep an ear out for it.
