Well, if you go back to the jokes that originally got people in an uproar, the joke basically was that they are annoying, but to each other. It was very much "stereotype" humor, which, if you watched his show or earlier stand up, was Dave's bread and butter.

It just plays on stereotypes on how the LGBTQ+ community treats each other, and was the preachy BS that his most recent two special were.

Possibly. That's why I made it a point to say how his most recent standup wasn't good other than when he told the story about when he was almost attacked at Hollywood Bowl, becasue that was really the only part of the standup (other than the parts about his wife) where he was actually telling jokes. The rest was just him being kinda preachy.

I feel like thats the case with most comics that do any sort of real societal comedy.

Whether its a a guy like Lewis Black or Jon Stewart joking about Trump, or Roseanne or some other MAGAt going off about those damn liberals, comedy that gets applause instead of laughs really isnt comedy.

$5k a month is significantly more than I make now, and I now have freedom to do whatever I want without worrying about financials, so that's an easy choice for me.

Just keep in mind, in 10 years when inflation makes that $5k equate to below minimum wage and you have to go back to work, how youre going to explain the 10 year gap in your employment

Also, good comedians don't punch down, so if he ever was a good comedian, he's not anymore.

He always punched down. He just punched down on subjects we were OK with being punched down in a time when punch down humor wasnt seen as that big of a deal.

Maybe I was blinded by the fact that I could leave my house and be in Atlantic City in 2.5 hours, but Online Poker is a thing.

Assuming its legal in your state, you can play poker for money on your phone.

We aren't forgetting that, we just don't think it's worth it as the skills being associated to it is being romanticized a bit. Skill plays a factor in poker but so does luck. Being able to read people in a specific game doesn't mean it will translate to unrelated professions. Even the lying thing, lying is not a top notch skill..... and the skill at lying in a specific subject doesnt mean you can take that to any profession. In fact, it's entirely useless in my career and many other careers.

Like this idea that you can take poker talents and the no money average joe can go easily become rich off that is not some surefire or easy thing. Regardless if you work hard. Employers generally aren't jumping at the chance to employ some rando who can play poker well who has no particular skills that pertain to the specific profession and whatever poker skills they do have do not automatically translate well to the job they are seeking applicants for.

You can literally make more than $30k in Atlantic City in a month, bouncing around from casino to casino, playing low-level $500 buy-in tournaments.

You don't even have to worry about bringing it into the "real life".

So, like I said, I think people were just blinded by the "$30k to do nothing" option and went with that.

I'm a big fan of the show, and was "friends of friends of friends" with two of the guys before the show started so I've been supporting from the jump, but it does sometimes feel like it's just the same show over and over again.

But it's incredibly cheap to make, so as long as people keep watching, and keep showing up when they go on tour, it's not stopping anytime soon. They're already signed on for another season.

The odd thing is, neither of her parents, nor her brother, are like this.

My uncle retired at 45 (firefighter), got another job (investigator for Geico) and then retired again at 60. My aunt is still working at 65 (retiring this month). Her brother was in the workforce and out of the house by 25.

Do her parents enable her? Absolutely. It wouldnt be happening otherwise. But I feel theres a difference between Mom and Dad will be there to cover my oh shit moments and Mom and Dad SHOULD be covering everything, because I didnt ask to be here

Poker is like roughly 80% luck, 20% skill. Sure, being skilled in poker can get you consistently a little far into tournaments, but there's also plenty of other skilled poker players out there and you really need to be lucky to get enough good hands to win tournaments.

Just give me the 30 grand.

If you have the skills and talent of the best poker player ever, you can play in low level tournaments that the best of the best don't even bother playing in. You'd be playing against "weekend warrior" players and none of the big players you see on TV.

You can easily make 30 grand a month doing that.

QTEs randomly dropped into cutscenes in games where QTEs aren't used otherwise can be a little annoying.
