If fiction influenced our real life actions to any major degree, civilization would have collapsed by now given mass consumption of media of all kinds.
Major civilizations have collapsed, if not outright fail to flourish, precisely because they are preoccupied with acting out myths or legends and/or drowning themselves in ritualistic entertainment / other rigid lifestyles for the sake of lifestyles. They fail to adapt or leave themselves open or aggress another group of people. A cultural gap can prevent them from trading or allying with their neighbors, if not spark war. A lot of that stuff is heavily, heavily carried from generation to generation by their songs, books or scrolls, art, sculpture, stories, and other traditions. Honestly, video games are just the next evolution. Instead of watching a yearly reenactment of your heroes, and playing out what you see with your kids, and quoting it in conversation, or remembering the scenes in your head, and modeling things or even yourself based on the standards presented in those experiences.... We can simulate it on a computer. It's no different. Think of it as cultural blueprints and impressions. What a person does in a virtual environment can be indicative of what they would do or straight up will do in the same scenario in the real world.

Does this monster scare you in the game? It will scare you if it were real too, if not much worse. Do you find this character attractive? Are you attracted to similar people in reality? Etc

One of my favorite things about bloodborne, is in the expansion when you fight Ludwig and there's a brief moment when he seems to be granted clarity and humanity in his final moments, in order to go out the way he deserved.
This.

It's so memorable. But, the player can put together that Ludwig still exists in all these other worlds, and is truly doomed to this cycle of death, like Gehrman. Once you finish the hunt, it will revive him, and you have to wonder if the experience compounds and makes it worse each time. Amazing world-building unique to games, and leans heavily on player participation, unlike other mediums.

I always viewed the plot of Dark Souls and its sequels as a sort-of "what happens AFTER hopelessness?"

The lesson being that hope isn't about the destination - it's about the journey. It's not whether or not the world can be fixed - it's that the "world" for these people (and by proxy, the player) is the purpose you find in the process of doing it.
That's more along the lines of 2.

3 delves into the prospect of purifying the world.

Dark Souls

It's to the extent that we aren't sure who the villain really is, or if the player is the villain. Gwyn is depicted as both a martyr and a cruel god, while the other Lords are highly debatable in terms of how bad they really are. Nito, for example, is running his own covenant to take back the powers of death from a cult of Undead who rose against him. Seath is actively attempting to unlock manipulation of the curse and immortality. The Four Kings appear to be challenging the player or guarding Kaathe. It's really only the Bed of Chaos that stands as a definite villainous presence. The pygmy is another story. Clearly, some of these people are ushering in the apocalypse and creating a world of rot, but it's not exactly clear who and what the right solution is. If you didn't need their Lord Souls to open the Kiln, there is much less reason to kill some of them. Even then, whether you would kindle the flame or take the mantle of dark lord, there is a question of whether or not even opening the Kiln for Frampt & Kaathe is heroic.but it's like, "What choice do i have?" and you could just go hollow and let the world be, which is confusing

Same reason you can't actually exactly zoom in and enhance images, especially digitally compressed images, like you see in the movies.

Bigger film
Bigger lense
Outside the atmosphere, which blocks a lot of light
And the lense is specially designed to capture certain radiation which we can use to reconstruct stuff you can't normally see

She aint skinny. She has a nice layer of fat concealing some serious lean muscle build-up. Look at that shin bone on her left leg, and the calf. That is not fat. Look at the definition between her hip and pelvic area. She has a bit of a higher fat content near her chest and rump. Actually.....
