As someone who just lost a loved one to COVID on Christmas Eve, I understand the feeling of the the day starting out real shitty, got that call around 4am on Eve. I also have a few loved ones that aren't particularly well either. In the same boat, hoping everyone is a lot healthier come this time next year though. Hope things improve / get better for you and yours bud.

Everyone have a nice Christmas today? Any good hauls?

Boy my Christmas Eve started out to be shit as fuck, but ended up being not so bad. Christmas today was nice and a pleasant surprise with how good it went compared to yesterday. Mostly got some clothes which are nice, but no games or gift cards. Still waiting to exchange gifts with some relatives though who I gotta wait to see due to everyone being sick with something. Sister's got COVID, my dad's recovering from major spinal surgery, uncle's in a hospital lockdown rehabbing from pancreatitis, aunt's got an infection or something after being treated for skin cancer? Shit's crazy, but everything went well all things considered. Hopefully next Christmas everyone will be a lot healthier.

Hope all of you stay healthy too. Here's to 2022.

Anyone ever discover a game they really liked through these topics? I think I saw some of you talking about Stardew Valley when it first came out. Never heard of it before and knew nothing about it. Got it. Loved it. Put so many hours into it and was a blast. Feel like there was another game I got into in a similar way, but can't remember what.

Yeah no way for that much. It's frequently sold for $10 at Best Buy and places.

And still probably no, but eh. You do you. Hard to recommend games like Andromeda, but I certainly had at least $15 worth of fun out of that mess.

I loved Return of the Obra Dinn. Such a unique game and I was just hooked on it for like 2 days straight. It's different, but I think totally worth a shot.

My boy big Willie Fisk got jobbed out hard. Sad to see. But no way is he actually dead. No one dies off screen.

Still really liked the show overall. Kate and Yelena were gold together. Biggest flaw is that it was all too short. Left me wanting way more Clint and Kate, but better to be left wanting more than for something to go on too long.

Kinda wish I didn't replay it earlier this year cause it'd be great right now. All the Christmas decorations, that thug in the Santa hat, Alfred talking about Christmas dinner and the awesome Carol of the Bells that plays during the climax really nail the feeling. Not over the top or beat you over the head with it, but nice subtle dressing on top of the main story.

Any other contenders?

Been a while so not sure if it happens right away or after an important event happens, but boy it takes a very big nosedive. Some really awful stuff, buuuut there's always something good going on and it ends up really good again at the end of the season.

It's worth it imo.

Only real fucked up thing there was forcing Abby to fight. We see Joel people to death in 1 and he clearly has done it before. Pregnant thing is fucked up, but what can ya do? Not like Mel wouldn't have killed her.

he did terrible things, but both Ellie did a lot worse than he did, from what we've seen.

Ellie didn't really do anything bad other than hunting down Abby.

Joel admitted in the first game to running ambushes where they'd rob and kill innocent passerbys. Those people that ambushed them with the guy pretending to be hurt? The big pile of stolen shoes and loot. Tommy straight up says the stuff they did wasn't worth surviving and he regrets it.

Still fuck anyone who just posts spoilers and especially assholes making spoiler thumbnails on youtube, but some douchebags will never change, so it's on you if you wanna stay spoiler free.

I avoided the theater for sure.

Not the best movie going experience, but still thought it was great.

No real endgame, but that is something you can get deeper into and yeah it's definitely meant for after you've put in a ton of work and hours.

I really can't relate to this as I've never interpreted The Last of Us (or any of the modern Naughty Dog games) to ever use the characters to represent the morality of the player.

If anything their games are the opposite. You're playing as characters with their own motivations that often don't match your own. The ending of the first game already established that it is not up to you.

Bingo. Hit the nail on the head especially with the last bit. Some people can't wrap their heads around it while others are just looking for things to complain about. It's like when people say that the theme of the game is "revenge bad". IDK how that can be your takeaway if you actually played it and paid even half attention to the story.

Phenomenal game.

Only real flaw is pacing.
