Eh, imo, they talk a big game but most of them really aren't a threat. remember, a lot of them are the big, overweight, "don't tread on me!" militia type who probably didn't make it past boot camp, if they even tried

I feel like we probably outnumber them 2-to-1 (if not more so) so if it comes down to it, i think we'd most likely win that war. even a lot of people on the right aren't so stupid as to actually go full insurrectionist

Both sides thought the Civil War would be won in a matter of months. Before that, the British thought they would easily recapture their colony. Most recently, America was supposed to steamroll over Iraq and Afghanistan because they were two backwoods nations against the greatest army in the world.

I'll admit the idea has some appeal, but you may find that they kill more easily than they are killed. Even if victory were assured, I would rather avoid a second civil war. Something about sacrificing the lives of thousands to kill people I dislike doesn't sit well with me.

If it happens though and the antiracists win, I want an "I Killed Racists And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt" t-shirt.

It was a simple $13 an hour data entry job where I was to fill out forms in bulk.

I got fired for filling out Form B as if it were Form A. During training, they spent about a minute and a half going over the differences between the two forms and I didn't realize some of the check boxes were legitimately in different places. When the supervisor went over the differences in forms with me a second time, they told me I'd be fired upon my next mistake. That mistake came three days later on a Friday.

I went to Disney World, came back, and got a better paying job. So it all worked out.

The current incline of racism began with the murder of Trayvon Martin.

CNN doctored photos to lighten George Zimmerman's complexion, they referred to him as a "White Latino," and they selectively omitted audio to make it sound as if he volunteered the information "he's Black" when he was responding to an officer's question. (CNN's non-apology was to blame the omission on a technical error.) Fox News, ever scraping of the barrel, went on a big campaign about how George Zimmerman was being unfairly treated and how he was allegedly just defending himself against the unarmed 17 year old whom he'd stalked for over a mile. Then Barack Obama, in a move meant to generate sympathy for the victim, uttered the now infamous line, "Trayvon could have been my son." A lot of White people took it as an attack -- for reasons I cannot fathom -- and sided with the murderous wannabe rent-a-cop.

People forget that Trump came on the political scene essentially as the anti-Obama. He promoted the conspiracy that Obama was foreign born and demanded that Obama present his birth certificate. The right tried to make Obama out to be anti-White, tried to make his statement one of division, and sought whom they felt was the best option for defeating whomever the left would choose as Obama's successor. Trump's position as the proverbial thorn in Obama's side is what gave him a realistic chance at the White House. Then he ran on a campaign blaming America's problems on Latino immigrants, referred to COVID as the Kung Flu, and coddled white supremacist who fawned over him.

Sadly, it's only natural that bigotry would grow when the fucking leader of the nation enables it if not outright encourages it.

But, unfortunately, there are people on the left who passive-aggressively encourage bigotry. It could not exist unless there were people on both sides ( @Doom_Art ) who actively encouraged it.

Racism is the great distraction which allows the capitalist machine to remain in motion. People don't mind getting screwed so long as they see themselves as better and more entitled than their neighbors. And since both parties are capitalist parties, it only stands to reason that there are those on the left who must actively encourage racism or willingly lose the fight against it.

Note: I'm not saying Doom Art is such a bigot. I'm just tagging them so they see that I dared to say enemies existed on both sides of the political fence.

What is the alternative, shoot all racists?

It's impossible to educate an adult. The way to fight racism is to prevent it in the first place. Diversified classrooms, diversity in children's entertainment, not beating around the bush and teaching that racism -- not allegorical elf vs dwarf racism but actual racism -- is bad.

That's what their bigoted parents want to prevent us from doing and that's why we need to do it. There is no cure for bigotry, only prevention. If the next generation has a ratio of less than 10% of people being bigoted, that's the best we can realistically hope for.

She's given big eyes and eyelashes - nothing else. Yes, they're signifiers that the character is female, but is that really something to get upset about? It just seems kinda crazy to me that we're at a point where eyelashes on a cartoon animal is considered sexist.

Not a much better batting average

I don't know that that approach has been done before.

Goldeneye seems to be the gold standard for video games based off movies, so I'll use that as an example.

In the movie, Bond has maybe three shooting scenes and two hand-to-hand fights. In the video game, it's all shooting because it's been turned into a first-person shooter. In the movie, there's really only one ladder that I can think of and that's toward the end of the movie. In the video game, ladders are found in nearly every stage. The video game removes 80% of the dialogue. A number of guns are created specifically for the video game. Despite being feverishly faithful, the video game still creates a few new action sequences to pad out the game.

There's no reason someone couldn't potentially work their way backwards.

Cut out the guns, superpowers, and powerups that you don't have time for and choose the key ones that you can't do without. Condense the action. Chop out action sequences that don't adhere to the central narrative. Figure out who the characters are and what conversations they would likely have with one another if allowed to speak at length.

If a screenwriter were to tell a story about an average Joe who gets trapped in another dimension and rescues a princess from a great evil, that movie could potentially be entertaining. If that average Joe is Super Mario, you can count on a writer to more or less forget the basics of storytelling in lieu of, "What did you expect? It's based on a video game."

This is the biggest thing. The basic structure of games and movies are different. Games don't tend to have three act stories with 3 to 5 action set pieces interspersed with character development and exposition. Even "story focused" games are wall to wall action with cut scenes thrown in for story. You can't translate gameplay to a movie so you tend to end up with somethign where the action scenes are stunted and the dialogue is exposition heavy because what little story is in a game gets stretched out to fill a movie. It's easier (and cheaper) to just take characters and a few important story elements out and stick them in an existing story which doesn't usually make for a good movie.

My advice to anyone trying to turn a video game into a movie would be to look at successful movie-to-video game adaptations and work backwards from there.
