Like it surely couldn't have been that difficult to scale trainer battles for the always on experience share. Trust me, I agree with you. Pokemon games are usually easy anyways, but having the EXP Share always on plus the levels being exactly identical to the original games that didn't have the modern EXP Share at all is ridiculous. Also today, I went back down to the Underground to catch that Absol I saw before, plus I caught a Magnemite (which evolved to Magneton soon after) while I was down there and a Wingull on Route 213 right near Pastoria. In addition to adding Magneton, I decided to replace Gastrodon with Wingull (Drizzle will really help my team once it evolves to Pelipper) and Kricketune with Absol (which can also learn False Swipe, and I can just have Roselia paralyze stuff with Stun Spore until I get the Thunder Wave TM in the postgame) on my team. I didn't know you could find Pokemon from outside the Sinnoh Dex in the Underground before postgame, so seeing that Absol shocked me. It wouldn't stay in a ball and cut through my team like butter, so I couldn't catch it. So far I've gotten the first badge and defeated Team Galactic in the Valley Windworks, and my team right now consists of Monferno, Roselia, and Kricketune, all at level 16. In my research, I learned that Kricketune is actually the only Pokemon in the entire Sinnoh Dex that can learn both False Swipe and a move that causes either sleep or paralysis. It learns Sing by level-up and False Swipe via TM. The Sinnoh region brought a bunch of new lore to the game and the Pokemon world that also ties in with the history of other regions. It also introduced more new evolutions for Pokemon from previous gens than any other gen ever, plus (this is where things get a bit subjective) the coolest set of starters, the coolest pseudo-legendary, a bunch of other great new Pokemon designs, and some of the coolest human characters in the franchise too. There's a reason why Cynthia and Looker became recurring characters that kept showing up in multiple other games outside of Sinnoh (and why Cynthia and Dawn keep getting so much rule 34 art, but that's a different discussion entirely) From a gameplay perspective, gen 4 revolutionized the way we battle and gave lots of Pokemon a well-needed boost thanks to the physical/special move split and a lot of other changes in gameplay mechanics. Outside of gen 6 adding the Fairy type after so long without any new types, no game in the series completely changed how we battle as much as gen 4 did. Even just for normal playthroughs, I think Platinum is the best game in the series. Great gym/E4 battles, a well-balanced level curve that makes it one of the less easy (I'd say "more difficult" but none of them are really difficult) games in the series, one of the best post-game experiences ever in the Battle Frontier, and it also fixed almost every major flaw that Diamond/Pearl had before it. Put all of that together, and I think gen 4 is the best overall. I'd put gen 5 right behind it (it's close because Black/White don't have as noticeable flaws as Diamond/Pearl did but I still think Platinum is a better game than Black2/White2) and then gen 2 in third. --- ''Someday I too will fly... and find you again!'' https://imgur.com/PfJxO7u |
