If it takes fifteen minutes to drive to a pool, and fifteen back, that leaves very little time to actually swim unless it's taking up multiple class periods or goes on after regular school time. Some people don't have the resources available to them to learn how to swim. Others probably just don't think it's useful because they're so rarely in a situation that rewrites it, similar to riding a bike.

i avoid being in deep water entirely, and I don't have the opportunity to learn how when I was a kid, so I've never learned how to swim (though I can keep my head over water if I struggle hard enough). Doesn't seem like a big deal

Homestuck. I've read it twice (serially and all at once). I love it, it's one of my favorite works of fiction, and I was one of those kids in high school so it holds a really special place in my heart.

but man I can't recommend a 9000 page story to someone, especially when the first 1500~ are kinda bad lmao and hard to push through, and certainly read like they were written in the early 10s. there's also aesthetic roadblocks
