PS3 won pretty ridiculously hard on games (only way it could be harder is what we have now where MS doesn't do exclusives at all) but almost everything that was on 360 ran better there. I definitely like 360 more as a piece of hardware and as an ecosystem, but the library can't remotely compare.

Trevor and Sypha were definitely a B plot last season but I enjoyed their stuff quite a bit. Alucard was a bit weaker just because it felt like they were going for pure shock value but if they use it to push his character in an interesting direction then I wouldn't mind it in retrospect.

Hard to guess IMO if this will be the last season in this time frame seeing how many plot threads are still up in the air. But yeah this show is absolutely fantastic for Castlevania fans. (And, I'd imagine, still a really solid watch for anyone else!)

I was already falling out of love with theaters pre-COVID and at this point I'd be pleased as punch if movies just continued going straight to streaming so I never felt the need to go again. (We already know they won't, but this has been a very nice taste of what could be.)

Super cool game if you're looking for something very Castlevania-y. Its equivalent to the soul system is extremely fun to mess around with. Just don't get it on Switch.

I feel like I have a pretty decent grasp of the mechanics? Like I was walking around her moves no problem and constantly punishing with the free Agi combo into the fire whip finisher and it still took what felt like an eternity.

I just beat the first boss and uh, are this game's big fights supposed to be such a slog? My entire party died on their own walking into one/two hit shots and then the fight was just me easily walking around its attacks whipping it for single digit damage with Ann for what felt like an eternity. The down gauge felt like it took entirely too much to break - like a cast of Agi would do maybe 1/5th or 1/6th of a shield and the fire whip felt like it wasn't doing anything at all.

I legit can't imagine how boring and/or frustrating that would have been on hard.

Yeah REmake is legit survival horror - you should be weighing the value of every bullet versus what you're getting out of it. It's almost always better to just dodge an enemy if you can.

That said, I feel like in RE games in particular the pistol falls off so hard in mid/late game that it's fine to use some of its ammo to secure important routes and make life easier. Of course with Crimson Heads factored in you need to dedicate extra resources to securing those routes or you'll be in even more trouble later.

2 is pretty good but has a slightly weird air to it that likely comes from James Gunn doing way more one-offs in his career than sequels. Feels almost like he doesn't know what to do with all the extra time not spent establishing the whole cast from zero, but it has a lot of great stuff and is gorgeous to look at.

1 is a damn miracle and somehow a better ensemble movie than Avengers while starting with a bunch of total unknowns to the audience.

Fair point - I still kinda think of Lost Legacy as an expansion in my mind but it really is its own proper game.

Yeah like Leonhart said I think my beef is mainly that I don't want them ever touching Nate again after how 4 wrapped up and I don't trust them not to drag him in for one last one last one last one last job.

TLoU feels like its world still has room to tell some stories. I'd be actively upset if they made another Uncharted after how perfectly 4 ended, though.

This whole story is pretty disappointing just in terms of the level of corporate bullshit that went down - nothing new from current era Sony, of course.

Even with the patch softening things up, hard mode seems, uh, pretty hard.

Back when Rebirth first came out, hard mode felt around the same difficulty as the flash game while normal mode felt more like an easy mode. Now the normal game feels as hard as the flash version (if not harder) and hard mode is really tough!

For sure! Not to say ARPGs were new to them but KH is definitely a different beast and I'd say more prototypical of what the genre would become before long.

And yeah combat is definitely the name of the game with KH2, but that's always where I gravitate. Something between KH1 and 3's level design with 2's combat would be my perfect KH game.

It's honestly kind of incredible that KH1 is as good as it is considering it was Squeenix's first real crack at that sort of thing. There's still lots of jank/clunky stuff and KH2 totally blows it out of the water but I can't help but put respect on its name.

1 and 2 are both bad movies in different ways, while 3 is legit one of the better MCU movies. What a turnaround for this character. My gut says 3 > 1 > 2 but the bottom two could really go either way.

I would absolutely get this game for $5 just purely to treat it as a case study. I'm actually kind of fascinated to see how much of a mess the full game is but $60 or even $40 is a pretty ridiculous ask for what the demo showed this was.

I'm definitely vastly preferring the controller. You have so much more control over your movement (more directions and adjustable speed) plus it's nice being able to use either buttons or stick based on your shot type. (Stuff like Mom's Knife or any type of charge shot are absurdly easier to use with a stick.)

But really it's less for his character and more for his hilariously over the top voice acting, the fact that you can re-anagram his name to be Mansex and the cool moments in his fights. Rather fittingly for his aspect, his character itself is a big nothing.

The Switch version has just as many reviews and is at a 27 right now, lol. Why does Metacritic insist on breaking out every platform like this? Obviously some versions will always be inferior but this just ends up making it needlessly complicated to parse an overall score for the game. Like the game is currently sitting at TBD, 58, 46, 27, TBD and TBD.

They did at least confirm the other three are coming in a separate game and the first two alone are already double the entire length of the original five combined. Still, kinda hilarious it came out like this after thirteen years.

Depends on what you mean by "golden age". Do you just mean a string of well-told stories set in interesting worlds with solid gameplay? If so, there's no reason to think they can't get back there. 7R sounds like it's already got the ball rolling, and 16 could very well continue it.

If you're specifically asking for a return to the 6-10 style of turn-based/ATB RPGs, or for them to go back to firing out a game every year or two, then no. The genre has widely moved on from both of those things and won't likely be returning.

It's the biggest mixed bag in the series. The stuff that's good in there is delightful but also it's ridiculously unfinished. The storytelling is "pretty bad" up until a certain point where it just completely devolves into a dumpster fire. Still has great characters and some really cool ideas. It's neat if you just treat it as a game design case study and a tour of what could have been.

DLSS isn't too surprising but is still extremely welcome news. Switch games have very clearly been suffering from the console's limited hardware. (Frame drops in a Mario game, holy moly!)

Considering none of the other consoles have adopted DLSS or its still-in-development AMD equivalent, it'll be pretty neat to see how much this is able to close the technical gap between the platforms. It's really a game changing technology for performance.

Man I legit can't imagine finding Aquaman boring. It's by far the most fun a DC movie has ever been IMO. (Though I'll say Shazam could just as easily be in this spot if you're 100% into what it's doing.)

The whole film is utterly exploding with vibrant colors and visual creativity and maintains a great swashbuckling feeling of adventure the whole way through.

Watched half of the Snyder cut with my friends last night - we'll be finishing the rest in the next couple of days. Honestly, I was really surprised and impressed by how much better the changes have made it so far! Making a team-up movie with half the team previously unintroduced was a bad idea in general but the absurd runtime is already doing quite a lot to let the characters (even Steppenwolf!) breathe and feel more developed. If the rest keeps this pace I can see myself putting it below Wonder Woman, landing it just above the "actually good movie" cut-off.
