So she pulls out all the stops to try to make herself the victim...and it kind of works. The other women in the store ask the victim who's filming to go away, and the police also treat her badly. When in reality all she did was film somebody who was harassing her. Good thing she filmed it.

Facebook is awful and should be destroyed. I used to use it but I stopped a decade ago. I would not use facebook or anything they own.

I have a twitter which I mostly use to follow artists I like and which I rarely post from. I use reddit a lot and I'm on here most days. I have a linkedin because it's obligatory.

I think it's good to stay off of social media if you can, mainly the ones that aren't anonymous.

Ignoring the question of how much would they charge and how angry would that make people, this also seems to be a complaint that gets uniquely levied against nintendo, or at least carries more weight than other companies. Like, people will generally argue in favor of backwards compatibility, but I rarely see people putting Sony's feet to the fire the same way as Nintendo when it comes to getting access to PS1 titles on a ps5, let alone requesting some sort of free digital virtual games library where you can play those titles like what Nintendo currently does on the switch for the NES and snes.

nintendo used to have a pretty robust virtual console and now all they have is a pay-to-borrow service which only offers games from the 80s and 90s for two systems. And after you pay for them you lose access to them

If nintendo had never offered virtual console then maybe there wouldn't be demand for it.

I wonder if one of the reasons why Nintendo tends to just do whatever they want is because whenever they actually look at criticisms being levied against them they're completely contradictory.

Like, there's a large crowd of people that will argue that Nintendo has been regurgitating the same franchises for 30 years, but also a large crowd of people angry that they can't literally rebuy older games in those franchises on the newest console. And for the games they have released, I guarantee there's a large crowd of people complaining that the games are either too expensive, never go on sale, or both.

Then, when they actually do try and innovate, it will inevitably be declared either gimmicky, for literal children, or both.

Don't get me wrong, it's not like Nintendo is a perfect company. They could definitely benefit from a more modern online strategy, and hopefully this new Metroid will do well to show them that the franchises they haven't been pulling from still have value. It's just funny how, unlike many other companies, it's basically impossible to create a single cohesive vision for what Nintendo is doing wrong.

putting games on virtual console would be an easy way to appease people who want to replay old games. With that niche filled, they can focus their NEW development efforts creating NEW experiences in their new games, rather than trying to recreate old ones in new games.

IMO it's obvious it's called the director's cut to piggyback on the success of the Snyder Cut. Which has a big overlap in fandom with death stranding

Switch actually presents a really cool opportunity for retro gameplay since it's the first time most people ever get to play console games on a handheld or vice-versa, with full versatility to swap at any moment. Which makes it especially hurt that now is when they axe virtual console.

You don't actually get to keep any of the NSO games. :/ And they barely offer anything

This is where I have to disagree. The user experience on a Nintendo console is noticeably lagging decades behind others. Its frustrating, overpriced, and tedious. Its riddled with mediocrity and dead end after dead end, and you have to wonder how ANYONE puts up with it.

No Bluetooth support? No Netflix or other streaming apps? Abysmal online features? No selection of classic games on their store? $100 for fucking JOYCONS???? No price drop on ANYTHING they sell?

they are mostly old farts who don't know anything about how surveillance capitalism or data gathering work.

Some of them use Twitter or Facebook but even they just have a surface-level understanding and they don't get other platforms.

Many of them don't even get how the most popular networks work.

There is a 0% chance they can grapple with or react properly to tech's privacy invasions, even if they have people explaining the problem to them. I really hope that in 20 years our politicians will have at least a basic understanding of social media and how to regulate it

I'm mixed. I can understand why people were against it, but in some ways it felt like gypped where it's usage had grown pretty detached from it's origin.

its usage as an insult has been and always will be tied to how people think of gay people. It's hard to feel comfortable coming out as gay when the people you know use the word so negatively. It's literally the same word. Acting like using gay as an insult doesn't actually muddle negative connotations about gay people is just stupid. It does, and when I hear somebody use it I just assume they're stupid

Switch Pro is NEXT year. There was a rumor of the OLED model this year, Switch Pro next year.

the consensus among the rumors was that a switch pro was coming this year. if there was a rumor about an oled version this year and then a separate version with boosted tech next year then it must have been very quiet because I didn't see it anywhere

it uses bluetooth to connect to the controllers but goddamnit it's pathetic they're doing a boosted version and it STILL can't use bluetooth headphones.

It was kind of excusable in 2017 when bluetooth headphones still hadn't been made the norm. But this is 2021 and most people's headphones are wireless now.
