SPE posted...
Let us be honest.

she did the fatal mistake of stopping acting after Harry Potter to go study at Brown. She let all her momentum pass and some of her younger years (she may look younger, but she is in her 30s now).

sure, she did some projects here and there, but nothing too big, and other than the perks of being a wallflower, she chose movies due to their feminist message, thats why she went into stuff like little women or beauty and the beast.

she also became quite insufferable with the preaching stuff. Activism is great, but you dont have to beat people over the head with it. Look at Bono, even the lead singer of U2 got criticized for it, why would Emma be able to get away with it?

she did the last Harry Potter in 2011 and its 2021 now. That is 10 years. Would other contemporaries like Emma Stone or Anne Hathaway have become who they are right now had they sidetracked their careers between the ages of 21 and 31? Lol no.

in the end she let ideology and idiosyncrasy hold back her career, and its a shame.
I'm sure she's crying into her piles of money about SPE's disappointment in her choices for self-fulfillment

The description made it sound like one boy is a sea monster and the other is just a human, but it turns out they're both sea monsters.

Unless one of them starts as a human and gets turned into a sea monster -- maybe that's what's happening here.

Imagine waking up Monday morning with no power. Then you realize there's no water. Then you see there's no cell service.
You get in your car so you can turn on the radio for updates - up and down the dial you can't find a single station.
The roads are impassible so you can't drive. You bundle up and decide to walk a mile or two try to get more information, but every person you encounter is doing the same thing. No one knows what's going on.
You hope your friends are okay, but you have no way to reach them. You check on your neighbors and then you take a quick inventory of your food and water, realizing whatever happened was big. You wonder if it's safe to drink melted snow, and then realize you better start filling every pan with snow and bringing it inside now, because by tomorrow it might not be warm enough to melt the snow.
On Tuesday your neighbor with the 4x4 asks if you'll go with him to try to find a grocery store. His family thought they had another case of diapers in the closet, but it was just a box with only one diaper left. He went around to several houses and has a shopping list for the neighborhood, but he needs your help.
On your drive to the closest HEB, the streets are littered with two wheel drive vehicles stuck in the snow. So many people have tried to get somewhere and failed.
When you get to the store you see most of the parking lot entrances are blocked by cars that it made it this far but got stuck trying to turn, and more blocked by the cars that tried to get around the first ones and got stuck themselves.
You park on the nearby street and walk over, the snow so deep it's falling through the top of your hiking boots, slowly soaking your socks. A line snakes from the entrance along the front of the building. It's a long line but not ridiculously so - no worse than those early covid lines. You realize it's all people who have trucks or live within walking distance. If things aren't better by the time the snow melts these lines will be 10 times longer.
You join the line just as a police officer makes an announcement over a bull horn: you're allowed to shop without paying but they are enforcing limits on all items, just two per person. He reassures everyone the snow will melt by the end of the week and trucks will be running again to deliver more supplies. Finally he says that people should keep checking their radio because information willl be broadcast soon on 90.5. You recognize that as KUT's frequency - if that's the only station they expect to come on the air it means they're using a generator, and if they're bringing in a generator that also means they don't expect power to be on anytime soon.
As you slowly move closer to the entrance you see a shape in the parking lot covered with a blanket, the snow around it soaked red. Rumor through the line is that he approach the entrance carrying a rifle and refused an order to put it down, yelling about his rights and having to feed his family. You've never seen a dead body before, even one covered by a blanket, and it leaves a deep impression. As you go to sleep that night you realize that you didn't think about that body again all day. Your mind's filing system has gone into crisis mode - any new shock, you just tuck it away for later. No time to process it, have to move it along to make room for the next one.
On Thursday the radio broadcast begins. It's patronizingly full of empty reassurances ("Texans can overcome anything when we work together!") And frustratingly vague on details ("federal, state, and local governments are working hard to evaluate the situation."). Your heart sinks. If we're four days in and they're still only trying to evaluate the problems, we're deep in the shit.
-a comment I saw on reddit yesterday about this.

I love birds! I have a birdfeeder up at my apartment and sometimes I take pictures of the visitors. Here is a jay checking out my feeder

I have a new feeder now which I prefer to that old one.

I also volunteer at my city's wildlife rescue and I always want to feed the songbirds when I'm there.

I'm getting romantic vibes between the boys. I don't think Pixar is bold enough to do that yet, but I would love if they would. Especially since thematically the story has clear parallels with the common gay experience of hiding your secret from people who would shun/hurt you for it

Wild Hogs -- disgustingly homophobic

honorable mentions:
Geostorm -- nobody expects diaster movies to be good, but we do expect them to at least offer plenty of disaster. a movie about a "geostorm" should be largely about the storm but instead this movie is trying to be the shittiest political thriller and is only 5% disaster.

Atomic Blonde -- incomprehensible plot.

Chicken Little -- the first movie I ever watched in a theater and realized it was a bad movie. So bad it shocked me into growing standards for movies as a kid.

TopicWeapon durability in BotW2
Wetterdew

Weapon fragility is effective in BOTW because it comes hand in hand with weapon availability and disposability. Availability means you can take weapons from anywhere, including from opponents, which adds a lot to the combat and exploration. Disposability means if you feel like, you can always just literally throw a weapon away into a ravine or something, or even at an opponent, which feel liberating to do.

I can see why some people are frustrated by it but the system comes with enough fun and rewarding elements that I think it's worth it. It also works thematically in BOTW.

I think they'll probably revise the weapon system in the sequel but IDK how.

OK so yes it looks bad, and it's really dumb, but he was good looking enough that it's not as bad as I expected. For a halloween costume or a cosplay I'd think it looks really good.

Now in 20 years it's gonna be exponentially worse.
