Note for Americans: In Australia, the current federal government is the Liberal Party, but they are actually the right-wing party. The other main party, the left-wing party is the Labor Party. Both are pretty centre, though.

Back to your post: True, but I would say we are a long, long way from US or UK. Only NSW is having a "severe" outbreak, and even then it's around 100-150 cases a day. Much better than VIC's.

I am nervous though, it feels like our luck could run out. I'm in QLD where we have been extremely lucky but the last few months it seems like there's always exposure sites to be mindful of.

That's how it was when I lived in PA over 20 years ago. Besides a bottle shop, the only place you could get beer is at a pizza take out place, oddly enough. Most of them would have a fridge of 6 packs.

Actually yeah, I can get a 6 pack of beer at Pizza Hut, which is strange.

Is that not a thing where you are from? Here you can get beer at gas stations, Dollar General, grocery stores, along with wine.

When I lived up North you couldn't get beer at gas stations, but the further down South you go it seems the restrictions are milder.

In Australia you can only buy alcohol at liquor stores.

@MabusIncarnate Pia isn't really eating her biscuits anymore. I mean, she's still eating them but not as much. She's still devouring her treats and wet food (I give her wet food once a week as a treat). She's not hiding or otherwise showing any sign of distress. It is winter and actually a bit colder than normal so she's sleeping more. Should I take her to the vet? Do cats diets just change?

Also, as mentioned "surprise mechanics". EA does it really bad in FIFA, even WoW has started fucking doing it (the two games I mainly play as an adult).

It's fucking annoying to have the "chance" of obtaining the best item on the first day of a release, or you may NEVER see it. That type of design is pure trash. Games should reward time, effort and grinding, not the person who gets lucky.

Don't get me wrong, luck obviously plays a part to it, but the way games are designed, you can play/open as many lootboxes as possible and never see the uber rare item you want. I feel like previous game design meant that you could grind towards something and KNOW that you will eventually get it.

Let me use WoW as an example, at the moment gear is mainly all RNG, you can get it on your first drop of a dungeon in the patch, or you may literally never see it. In TBC, the same thing, except you also earn "Badge of Justice", so after a set amount of grinding dungeons, you will have enough of the currency to purchase an item that may fill that slot, or another one. So if you grind for 30 hours, you KNOW at the end of the 30 hours, you might have your dropped item AND the Badges for another item.

Game design where you can grind for those 30 hours and potentially have nothing? Garbage. Or worse than nothing, something shit that pretends to be your steak knives prize.

Level scaling. I hate it with a passion. It doesn't make the game harder, it just ruins the sense of progression. If I want to take my level 90 character back to the starting area and steamroll some level 2 rats, then let me do that.

This, massively. One of the most satisfying things is spending the time grinding to make yourself powerful so you can go back and steamroll shit.

I moved from Brisbane to Sydney in 2011. Crazy how much it has changed. Not long before I moved I remember barely anything being open in Southbank on a weeknight.

I did Melbourne to Sydney. I remember in 2013 I went to go to Woolworths at 6:15pm on Saturday night and it was closed. I was blown away. My friend came up too, we went into the city on Sunday afternoon and literally parked on the street (free) and crossed the road with no traffic anywhere. Not like that now.

That's it, tbh I've been very lazy lately, but just trying to enjoy the time before the baby comes. I don't mean that in an "ugh" way, I literally cannot wait, but also mindful of the fact that these next 5 months are literally the last time in my life that I can just worry about myself and only myself, so trying to also enjoy and make the most of it.

What better way to do that than to sit in my apartment for 3 days with the blinds drawn.

Wife has a bit of a getaway planned with her sister and best friend Monday 2nd-4th August. I've taken those 3 days off work and I'm just gonna sit at home, watch sports, play video games and get absolutely fucked up.
