Just some suggestions.

Sadly turkey is another thing I don't like (even on t-day), I used to make chicken on T-day instead. I have been including mushrooms in many meals, even over potatoes now as a side dish. Also tofu is ok, in a soup or something where there are other flavors that over ride it, just not as a main dish (like a tofu burger or something).

What about fish? A lot of different types of fish you can eat and a lot of different ways to cook em and I consider them almost on par with beef even though obviously the taste is very different.

I do try fish, and it works for awhile then weirdly, I got through a period where I just don't want fish at all (like now), mainly because of not great frozen fish I guess. If there was a GOOD fish place nearby that I could get fresh fried fish etc, that would be so much better than the gordans crap I have in the freezer (That I'm avoiding right now).

For awhile I ate almost as much fish as chicken, but now I have not had fish at all in 2 weeks.

I have been cutting back on how much meat I eat some, but it's really hard for a few reasons.

First because I can't really eat the grains/carbs like I used to. I could have lived on pizza in the old days and been happy, but now I can only have it very rarely, same with pasta, bread etc.

Second, other than pizza and pasta my primary intake for food throughout my entire life was meat, mostly beef, to the point of literally only occasionally having brocolli as a veggie (From broccoli beef) before I got married (at 27).

I didn't have parents that had me eat veggies as a kid and I started working buying my own food at 11....what I bought was meat, what I ate was meat with a side of occasional (often) pizza lol.

Giving that up all together seems pretty impossible. I have actually tried multiple times in the past, after seeing Harris Ranch in CA and all those poor cows, I felt horrible and really tried to stop eating beef. I didn't last a month. I literally felt sick, low energy, depressed and it didn't go away after a few weeks. I eventually did what someone above kinda said, and just convinced myself that just one person doesn't really matter and the meat is going to be sold or thrown away anyway, and just went back to eating like normal.

Back then, when I tried, I had a few advantages. I had a family that I cooked for, and so would expend a ton more energy to make very yummy and healthy meals, I had goals and things in my life I enjoyed, I wasn't diabetic and you could actually go out and eat lots of places. Even back then it was too much for me to go full vegetarian, or even just eat chicken.

Since then I have tried to cut back on how much beef I eat, and eat more chicken. I buy frozen chicken and cook it in my air fryer (which isn't too bad, but still have not really found a good spicy (like popeyes spicey chicken) one that I really enjoy. I don't buy steak every week anymore, and have made one pot roast in the last six months. I do buy hamburger meat sometimes still, but I would say I average less than 1 hamburger meal per month at this point.

Maybe it is not making a difference, but I'm trying at least. I have always tried to make the world a better place and to not harm the people around me. I believe eating beef (especially as much as I did most of my life) is harming the world, so I'm trying to at least reduce how much I do that. Maybe it won't matter at all, but if more people do what I am, I am pretty sure it will matter eventually.

I just wish there was an easier option, a good "impossible" meat I could buy, at the store, that would taste SOMETHING like a real burger...you know....yummy.

I don't like tofu, never have, don't like most veggies though over the decades I have grown to like asparagus, broccoli, brussel sprouts and mushrooms (corn I always liked). That is literally the only veggies I don't strongly dislike. I hate squash of all kinds (used to cook it all the time for my wife/family couldn't/didn't eat it myself at all). Oh I of course love potatoes lol.

But yeah, if you cut out all or most carbs and all meat, I would um......have almost nothing left. My solution is chicken, but....it gets freaking old fast eating chicken day in and day out. I spend money to have different ways to make it, instant pot, air fryer, BBQ grill, electric griddle etc, but yeah, it's still just chicken, and the sad truth is I just don't spend as much time/effort making good food for myself as when I cooked for 4 people.

I really need some good, healthy, non-meat choices that I really like, and impossible meat that tastes like beef would be perfect.

Other than bacon, i'm not a big fan of pork. I do ham sometimes, or BBQ pork from chinese, but it's rare. I do aim for pork egg rolls over chicken though.

Wish I liked pork roasts better, and especially bbq pork ribs (love beef ribs though).

I've been eating alot more chicken and cutting WAAAY back on beef (though I do burgers still sometimes), but I'm curious. What if I eat lamb instead of beef/steaks? Would that help the environment because the lamb industry isn't as big, do lamb create less gasses etc?

I don't care about my health, I pretty much only have food left in my life as a joy, so screw health (Although I avoid carbs due to being diabetic..and sugars of course). My cholesteral is fine etc, so I can eat beef every day and not have a health issue. I care about taste though, alot. I NEED something good to look forward to each day and often that is just a meal.

Cutting back on beef therefore, is quite hard as I have many things I can't eat (Types of cheeses, now most carbs or things that break down into sugars, all things like mayo, cream cheese, sour cream etc).

My two favorite foods were always pizza and steak and I've been basically cutting both of em out of my diet.

Lamb though is yummy...so if I eat lotsa lamb will that be as bad for the world as eating lots of moo moos?

I used to make the ABSOLUTE BEST tacos in CA cause they had REALLY REALLY good Flat Iron/Skirt Steak for sale there. The key was the meat was soooo freaking good to start, then I seasoned it and bbq'd it and god damn those tacos were insane.

Can't make em nearly as good here in WA sadly, nor can you find a really good mexican restraunt either sigh. I miss CA so much but every time I look and contemplate moving back, the prices to live there keep going up. Freaking renting a room most places in the Bay Area seems to be over $1000 a month now!! *cry*

I get that way sometime as well, but eating is kinda important. I literally loose all appitite if I dont' eat for awhile (depressed or not) unless i smell meat cooking or actually eat something, it just goes away all together. Maybe it's a left over from my childhood.

Anyway, try a snack type food like almonds or mini-carrots etc, that might jump start your appitite again and then BAM you'll become a veracious carnivore ready to eat a whole cow in one go (I mean that is basically what happens to me lolz).

Sorry your feeling down Jen, I wish you had a good friend nearby you could hang with and just have company, that would prob help a ton. If you got some free time maybe jump into an MMO with an online friend you have (RC maybe?) or something like that. See you all playing Among us, maybe that would help (I don't have it or i'd join in).

Maybe a good web comic could help? Here is a funny one I like.

That safeway always has long lines, and especially on the weekends. I used to avoid shopping there f-Su because you usually can't get out within 30 minutes (just for the line, not your actual shopping). I would shop at the more expensive Heagin nearby as well, because the lines were waaaay faster (but the food is more expensive by far).

But yeah, today was pretty crazy. It was a combo of the rainy conditions starting, Covid, and it just being a Friday night. Very bad time to choose to go shopping. In tacoma I could generally go to a closer safeway that was really small and get out in 10 mins, or the one on 72nd street (much bigger but more busy) and it would be about 30 mins.

This one on Heagan in Olympia though, when it's like it was tonight, is just insane. But then again, so was Trader joes so it's just stores in that area. One of the posters on here (Don't want to say her name in case she doesn't want it known) works at a store nearby, although as far as I know the lines are not as bad there, perhaps they were tonight though.

I want the long version.

Dude....you asked for it.

So yeah, I woke up today and just felt blah, needed to go do SOMETHING to just get out of my freaking room. It was rainy, overcast and foggy all at once. Only thing that kept it from being the absolute worst conditions was the time (Still daytime) and no snow on the ground.

Anyway I decided to go try Chipotle (that was a disaster but that is another story), and while out get some OJ from trader joes and ground beef and lamb from safeway (on sale). I drove into town but the line at Trader Joe's was freaking insane, and I was like, not even. I dumped off my garbage in one of the containers (I have to bring my garbage into town because the roomates use up all the space in the containers here) and headed to safeway.

Got there and realized I was a moron right away. The parking lot was crazy. Like, imagine someone designed a hell where you were trying to park continuously and never finding a space? That was the Safeway parking lot. I got lucky though and a car pulled out in front of me (there was nother car coming the other way, but they signaled me in), so it only took about 5 minutes for me to park. I realized then though, that the safeway was going to be FREAKING PACKED.

I was right. I headed in, and people were everywhere (At least they were all wearing masks). I went back got my hamburger meat and lamb, some more creamer for my tea, 2 things of non-pasturized OJ (muah they have it now, it's just twice as expensive as trader joes....so I would have saved $10 if I had waited in that 30+ minute line....it wasn't worth $10 to wait in the rain in a mask).

Anyway I head to check out (everything I got was in the back of the store), coming down the aisle on the far right where the veggies are and I see nothing strange from here, there is a line going back into every lane, but with social distancing that is fairly normal (Because you can only have 1 or 2 people before it goes into the aisle.).

I head to go down what I think is the self checkout lane and there is a line all the way back through the aisle there (who knows maybe it went further around a corner). I am like WTF, but then notice that it's actually the quick checkout line, not the self service line, so I'm like Phweew) I even say something to a person in the line about being glad that wasn't the self checkout line.

Except, when I go to the other side of the store where self checkout is, the line for EACH aisle (2 checkouts) is just as long. It generally takes a person twice as long at least to self checkout for some reason, andI was like, no freaking way. I'll just put this crap back before I wait through that.

But luckily, I remembered a trick I have used in the past, you can check stuff out at Starbucks as long as you don't have any produce or things that need to be weighed. I wasn't sure how long the line would be at starbucks, but I headed over. Luckily, there was just 1 chick there with 2 kids, who was already having her drink made. I chortled happily and got in line behind her. She was done in just a few minutes and BAM I ordered a grande Americano (used to be under $2, which is actually a pretty good deal as you get 3 shots for that, ask for water only up to the siren's eye, and then fill the rest with cream for a very yummy (and no longer super hot) drink. Now it was a bit over $3 for the same thing and you can't put your own cream in, or sugar!!).

Anyway I held up each item and he scanned it, then held up my safeway card, and finally payed with the machine. I was done (including getting my coffee, in less than 5 minutes. Oh I also bought a thing of bacon which was supposed to be on sale, but I noticed I did not get the $3 off on the receipt. I did not go back in to get a refund though because that place was crazy.

Backing out to leave was seriously dangerous. Luckily I'm super careful as a little girl was walking waaaaay behind her mother just as I was going to back out (she was shorter than my car hood and right behind it. I waiting long enough to see her (most people probably would have just run her over, her mother was REALLY not doing a good job with a girl that small).

I pulled out and headed home, visability was already crap, but was getting worse fast as the light started to fade, but I got back before it was too bad. Over all I got what I wanted (OJ + Good foods for a few days) but I will try HARD to remember not to go shopping on Friday-Sunday anymore. The lines are just too insane, there is no way to safely social distance at all, and parking etc is rediculous as well.

There that is the longer version. I did leave out voting along the way, my trip to Chipotle, getting a bit lost trying to get from the mall to Safeway and a few other things, but I don't think they would fit in 1 post so I was brief.

Also I was not circumsized as a baby, so I got wiggle it more than just a little bit to get it dry if I do it standing up. Sitting I just sit for a bit, and it drips dry just fine.

I mean, if hiking or something, I'll pee behind a bush standing up for sure, or if it's like a gas station or something (an emergency is about the only time I'd use such a toilet), and the toilet is disgusting....I'll certainly not sit on it (heck I'll avoid enter the stall and use the urninal if there is on in that case).

But yeah, just always seemed to make sense to sit to pee for me even when I was really young (Before I got married).

I mean, it's possible it had just been sitting there for a LONG time and if you get it freash it doesn't taste as bad. This one was at a mall and there are not many people going to malls right now, so there were only 3 other people getting food (and none of them got the carne asada, in fact one got no meat at all).

I honestly can't believe it's that bad all the time, cause I swear, I have eaten cardboard (yep I have eaten cardboard) that tasted better. Even WITH two kinda of salsa it was dry as hell.

It was not resting in any sauce at all, just dry in a pan, and probably (considering the size of the pan and the amount they still had left in it) had been for hours. PErhaps if eaten within like 30 minutes of being prepared it would well...taste a bit better at least. I doubt it was ever "good" though.

I sure as hell am not going to give it another shot. That was maybe 1/2 a pound of meat for $15 (if that much) and it tasted worse then the cheapest meat you can buy in the store that you then cut up and roasted in the over for 15 minutes before making a burrito with it.

I realize some people are not like that, and in some cases people can lose their jobs (Even though thats illegal) or not be promoted or even worse crap if they vote a certain way in a certain district.

That being said, making it optional would avoid that problem, but whatever, doubt it'll matter with our 2 party system anyway. The wealthy are the ones who determine who our choices are, so it's basically voting for Kraang or Krang.

I mean, I have almost never peed while standing, with the exception of waking up and having to pee while semi hard/hard (mostly when younger), as I need to be able to basically aim that thing downward and sitting wouldn't work well.

Meanwhile peeing while sitting means you don't have to touch your junk, and if you do have to poo anytime soon, sitting down on a toilet will generally get that done at the same time (but if you stand, you might not notice till an hour or so later).

Finally if you live with women (I was married most of my life) it just stops there from ever being an occasion where you leave the seat up in the first place (btw, you ALSO have to actually raise the freaking seat, which means touching it, to pee).

In pretty much every way I find it more sanitary to just sit and piss.

I get that, but make it optional to have the info shared or even collected. That way in situations like yours, you can do it the old way, but in most places you don't have to worry about that, and everyone can see how their vote was tallied. Makes it much harder to skew the system etc, if everyone can actually see their votes. Say 90% of votes are down for that and 10% are not, you could still ensure that almost every vote was counted correctly that way.

So I went for supplies.

Got about 10 things.

Wanted to use self check, but each had a line all the way back, at least an hour wait (each set of 2 that is).

Wanted the food I got, but that was too long. Had an idea, went to starbucks, one person in front of me, already ordered got her coffee in about 2 mins. I was up. Checked out all my stuff (They can only do it if it has a bar code but all my stuff did (would have put back anything that didn't). Got an americano for $3, saved an hour).

Just a heads up if anyone else is dumb enough to try and shop in the afternoon on a friday right now.

Btw, I never said there was any voter fraud, nor do I think there is, I just think the current setup is stupid and could easily be improved on, and I REALLY think we should have the option of seeing how our votes were counted.

There is no reason not to do that at this point, especially if it's optional.

WTH?

Seriously.

WTH!!!

Ok, so I saw comericals online and I was like, hmmmm, I like me some carne asada, but to get it delivered from uber out here was mega expensive, so I have not tried it for weeks. I went into town today to vote and get some supplies and stopped at Chipotle.

That was some seriously sawdust tasting, dry assed, leather like carne asada.

OMG

Ok, now, I don't get rice, and I don't get beans (which drops the price $1.50 and then extra steak is $4.50 more so I get just about double steak for $3. That is my norm. I don't (well didn't I have not had chipotle in over a year at this point) eat at chipotle much cause I never really liked their steak.

But I got the same thing with the carne toda and OMG. I forced myself to eat it since it was like $15 and I was hungry (And about to go shopping...never a good idea), but it was a chore. It shouldn't be a chore to eat something that cost $15.

I don't get how anyone eats that crap and why how, it came back cause I believe the comercials said it was back by popular demand).

Who was it popular with? Demons? Tax collectors? Lawyers?

Seriously who likes that crap, at least the steak was edible.

It should be mentioned I lived in CA most of my life and I volunteered at polling places for about 20 of em (still have the pins) so the whole mail in/drop box voting in WA is both new to me (seemed weird 4 years ago as well) and very different.

At least with the voting booths in CA, it was a computer program that took the votes, and it identified who was voting each time. I get that could be tampered with, but so could the computer that actually TALLYs the votes in WA, so that isn't really any different.

Meanwhile the votes are not nearly as secure (or don't seem like it to me), but whatever, people here are fine with it, so I won't rock the boat...but it's weird.

I wouldn't have volunteered this year for sure, due to the virus and me being high risk, and I wouldn't have 4 years ago due to my wife's illness, but I did every other year I was able to before that.

Pro: Still care about people, am helpful, good at problem solving, imaginative, smart and have a sense of humor.

Cons: Eyesight is going, memory is shot, don't really care about anything anymore (for myself), to scared of being responsible for someone to have any relationships even friends, starting to not like food as much/taste as well, no motivation, becoming a hermit, inability to spend money on anything, diabetic, get frustrated easily, can't handle high stress well anymore, can't get over recent negative events and move on, make waaaay to long posts.

I mean, I don't know, I didn't say you should ONLY vote digitally but it could be used as a backup and to compare.

As far as it being secure, do they even monitor the dropoff boxes? Mine was as a deserted fire station, pretty far from anywhere a camera could be that I saw.

Also...WHY don't you have people sign on the ballot as well, so it can be checked to make sure it's theirs? I don't see a negative to that. I guess it kinda prevents someone from telling who you voted for, but...does that really need to be kept secret?

Seems crazy to me, not to have an extra level of security that is pretty easy to do. At least let people have the OPTION of A: signing their ballot and B: Having it digitally processed so they can see what their vote was counted as. A machine has to count the votes anyway, so why not actually have it optionally (if you enter a number or fill a box etc) record the votes under your name so you (and optionally anyone) can see how you voted?

That seems like common sense to me.

So I'm voting today, dropping off my ballot at a box. In WA we do it by mail, but I just realized that they don't have you sign on the actually ballot at all, just on the envelope you send in.

That means there is no real way to tell how many people voted if any fraud does happen. Seriously we need to go digital at this point, or at least both, that way the vote count can be checked to make sure the numbers are not wildly wrong.

The way it is right now, if anyone gets ahold of the envelops, and opens them, they can replace the ballots with ones that vote the way they want, then just send it in and nobody will ever know.

That is crazy. Why are we using such out dated methods to vote at this point?

I can't eat gummys anymore, well technically I could probably eat sugar free ones, but my wife told me horror stories about them making her poop like crazy so I never have.

But I love gummy bears.

I don't think i'd want hard candy coated ones though, that sounds kinda weird tbh.

And please tell me it's not chocolate coated gummy worms cause thats even more grose.

Ok, I did not watch the whole video, cause I couldn't stand either of em.

But a few things right from the start. That was a hair saloon, where you make appointments (and pretty much you always make apointments to get your hair colored), they cost significantly more than just a normal haircut if you didn't know, and most people (ladies in my experience but i'm sure some guys use it) make an apointment with a specific hair stylist that they know.

That appears to be the case here as the Karen basically stated, I'm paying you though, and stated she didn't want someone else to work on her hair. I didn't hear her say anything racist....but again, I didn't listen to the whole thing. Also older ladies like that often lightly "punch" someone, not in an offensive way (there was no force behind it), but just as a kidding type thing (not even sure where it comes from, but I have known ladies who do that).

She wasn't trying to hurt the hairstylist from what I saw.

Honestly I think the Hairstylist was more of a Karen than..well....the customer...but I just couldn't watch long enough to see (I did get through the point where the Karen Stylist asked her to leave with only half her hair colored.

IF the customer was upsetting you, stop freaking talking to the customer and just do your job, which she made an appointment for, and then don't make any appointments for her in the future. The customer does not HAVE to allow someone else to work on the hair, and you should certainly let the customer know before the appointment if you plan on having that happen.

Perhaps they were both Karen's but from the little I saw, I actually disliked the hair stylist more.

All teachers should know not to bring up political or personal beliefs in class. Even if they are not so contraversial, you have parents of kids with a wide range of beliefs political and otherwise and some of them will take offense at almost anything you say. Heck even saying Merry Christmas can sometimes cause problems lol.

So she should be fired both for being racist, and for being freaking stupid. Stupid shouldn't teach.
