Yeah, Togekiss is great. But even in HG/SS, I don't think you can get the stone to evolve Togetic until post-game unless you trade it in from outside.

Updates:

- I went to the daycare and bred my new Machop (so I'm the original trainer and also so it doesn't have a stupid nickname) and my Abra went up to level 15 (a single level away from evolving into Kadabra, which is perfect) in the time it took to generate the egg.
- I biked around Goldenrod for a while, so my new Machop hatched and the Odd Egg also hatched into a shiny Magby.
- I kept biking for even longer to raise my Togepi's happiness level high enough that it would evolve with its next level-up.

- Togetic Lv17
- Kadabra Lv16
- Cubone Lv15
- Machop Lv5
- Magby Lv5

Next step is to level up Machop and Magby so they catch up to the rest of the team, and then it's time to beat Whitney.

It's crazy how deep the fans went into creating characters, lore, and art for the early playthroughs. From Bird Jesus and Lord Helix in the original Red to M4 and her band of soldiers in Emerald, people were really creative with that stuff.

I've done Nuzlockes in the past but this sounds like a lot of fun. I might give it a go with HG/SS!

I considered doing it in HG/SS, but I decided to go with Crystal instead. The main differences in doing it in HG/SS compared to Crystal:

- No in-game trade for Machop (the NPC asks for a Drowzee in HG/SS instead) and no Odd Egg.

- The Game Corner Pokemon are different: Ekans/Sandshrew (version dependent) and Dratini instead of Cubone and Wobbuffet in Goldenrod, then Mr. Mime and Eevee instead of Pikachu and Larvitar in Celadon.

- Since you can get Dratini from the Game Corner and it can learn Surf, you're not required to pick Totodile as your starter to make the run possible without having an "HM slave exception". You can't get a Water Stone to evolve Eevee into Vaporeon until past the point where you need Surf to advance, and nothing else you can acquire in such a run can learn the water-related HM's, so you need Tototile for the run to be possible in Crystal.

-Abra is harder to level up at first because you can't just give it the elemental punches via TM (plus they're physical moves in HG/SS anyways) but Togepi is easier to level up at first because it comes with Extrasensory to attack with.

I only use bird pokemon when I play these days.

Nice. Single-type runs are fun until you hit a gym leader who has the advantage over you. My first playthrough in Shield was a mono-Ghost run, and both Alister (Ghost gym leader) and Piers (Dark gym leader) were huge pains to beat.

Shuckle all the way

Shuckle is one of the gift Pokemon you can get in G/S/C, but I don't think I'm going to use it during this run. At most, I might bring it with me to face Jasmine and have it Encore her Steelix into a bad move before switching it out so something else can kill Steelix.

Ive learned of this thing called the professor oak challenge where you have to obtain the pokedex entries of everything thats available to you before the next badge. This includes evolutions and shit like munchlax honey trees. You could see where this gets insane. Probably the hardest challenge Ive heard of.

That sounds absolutely insane. The worst part would be dealing with Pokemon with really high evolution levels, since you'd need to waste a lot of time grinding them on Pokemon that are much lower-leveled.

- Got the Odd Egg from the daycare guy, then reached Goldenrod City.
- Sold a bunch of useless items to get money, then went to the Game Corner.
- Bought 1000 coins (I'm not wasting time gambling) and redeemed them for a Cubone and two Abras.
- Traded one of the Abras to an NPC in Goldenrod for a Machop.

The Machop is female, so I decided to put it and Abra in the daycare and breed a new one, which would also help me evolve Abra into Kadabra faster. Plus, the biking to hatch that egg will also help hatch the Odd Egg faster too.

It depends on the game you try it in. G/S/C (and HG/SS) are probably the best games for a run like this because there are a lot of gift Pokemon and two Game Corners worth of prizes to choose from. I also thought about Yellow because you can get all three starters as well as a few other gifts.

In later gens, there aren't nearly as many gift Pokemon during the story, so either you won't have enough Pokemon to cover all the HM's when you need them (unless you make an exception and catch an HM slave or trade one in from outside) or the run will just be kind of boring overall.

I'm not going to throw a single Pokeball the entire playthrough (not even for a shiny) therefore limiting myself to only using Pokemon that I acquire without catching, like my starter, various gift Pokemon (Togepi egg, Eevee from Bill, etc.) and Game Corner prizes. I might allow myself to breed among the Pokemon I can acquire without catching, but I'm not sure. Anyways, I'm in Ilex Forest with only a Croconaw and a Togepi. Once I get to Goldenrod, I can fill out my team a lot more because I can get a few Pokemon from the Game Corner, plus whatever hatches out of the Odd Egg.

Have you guys done any "self-imposed challenge" Pokemon playthroughs lately, like solos, nuzlockes, or something else?

The notice board for EN updated today to tell us the next event starting tomorrow, and we're getting part 2 of the Azaleas story, just a normal event. No mention of anything involving the JP anniversary, Iroha's birthday (which falls on the same day) or any sort of promotion in EN related to either of those. So while the catastrophe of a simultaneous release was avoided, now it's been replaced by the disappointment that EN might not be doing anything at all for Iroha's birthday. If my memory serves me right, last year we got a week of free pulls and a couple of cute cutscenes for her.

The wait for the reveal of the JP anniversary character (and whatever insanity might arise from that) is still driving people crazy though.

The Magia Record fanbase might be about to collectively lose its shit in about half an hour or so, for one (or possibly both) of two reasons.

1) The third anniversary unit for JP hasn't been revealed yet, but they have revealed that it's a Dark-type unit. That means everyone's first thought/desire is Homura as I mentioned this a couple of days ago, but people are also starting to speculate that it might actually be a variant of Ui (Iroha's sister whose disappearance in the beginning was the catalyst for the entire Magia Record story) or the addition of Kuroe (the anime-exclusive magical girl) instead. Most of the fanbase wants Homura badly, preferably *Madoka Magica Rebellion spoilers* Devil Homura, but if it actually turns out to be Ui or Kuroe instead of Homura, a decent amount of people in both the JP and EN fanbases are probably going to be upset.

2) The official JP MagiReco Twitter said that the 3rd anniversary character is going to be revealed at 4PM JST (3AM EST for us here in the States) which is an unusual time for a JP announcement to take place. However, it just so happens to exactly line up with the daily reset time for the EN server and takes place approximately half an hour from the time of this post. The most recent EN event ends at the same time as well. What this boils down to is that some EN players are terrified because they're thinking MagiReco might actually release this special character in JP and EN simultaneously.

If this happens and such an important and powerful unit comes immediately after the Iroha/Yachiyo duo unit, which was JP's second anniversary unit and one of the most hyped releases that a lot of EN players saved and dumped their stones/tickets for, quite a few EN players are going to be pissed off. They might potentially even quit because they would either have to let this important (and potentially highly desirable if it's actually the Homura most people want) character pass them by or be forced to spent a lot of money to get her.

Neither of these things happening would really have an effect on me personally, because I don't really have a strong desire towards any of the Dark girls it might be and I don't care about being meta-relevant and letting a really strong character pass by. But for many other players, this could be a make-or-break night. Either way, I'm staying up to watch the shitstorm happen in real time, so I'll be back to let you guys know what happens.

Being, Apple takes a ridiculous cut of revenue, for the privilege to appear on their store. Epic is big enough to tell them to fuck off, so they made it do you can buy microtransaction garbage directly from Epic's website or something, bypassing Apple stealing money from them.

So super tl;Dr, basically, one greedy company (Epic) found a way to get around a bigger even greedier company(Apple)'s bullshit policy.

Pretty much this. Epic is by no means the "good guy" in this, but they're the "less bad guy" in comparison to Apple.

Plus, in the very unlikely event that Epic pulling this stunt actually motivates Apple to change their policy and take a smaller cut away from the app developers, then Epic looks like even more of a "good guy" because they brought about a positive change for many others too. Don't count on that happening though, since Apple would literally let a cash cow like Fortnite (and its players) walk away than concede that.

Same. All of the gachas I've put more than a couple months into were games I started playing from day one of the English launch, or specifically in Revue Starlight ReLIVE's case, from day one of the Japanese launch and then switching over to the English version when it was announced.

Speaking of Japanese versions, the third anniversary of JP Magia Record is coming up next week. Based on the graphics and teasers shown so far, the speculation among the fanbase is that the third anniversary limited character (similar to Ultimate Madoka for the first anniversary and the Iroha/Yachiyo duo unit for the second) is most likely going to be some variant of Homura Akemi. Whether it's *Madoka Magica anime/Rebellion spoilers ahead* the bow-wielding Homura seen in the early half of Rebellion or the infamous Devil Homura that she becomes at the end of Rebellion is yet to be seen, but all of the evidence I've seen points to it being some form of Homura, with very little to support it being anyone else but her.

ImageFAQs just randomly stopped working for me and I can't really figure out why. Images in sigs are still embedding fine, but images in the posts themselves aren't showing up at all. It tries to embed the link (since the text URL goes away) but nothing pops up in its place.
