Every episode made it feel more and more like a parody of magical girl anime rather than a normal one. Whether it actually was a parody or just had really good comedic timing doesn't really matter at this point, because it was hilarious either way. The fights were solid (but not as good as something like Nanoha or Symphogear), the story was decent (but not as good as something like Madoka or YuYuYu), the art/animation was pretty good, but the real selling point was the comedy and the girls being complete dorks in almost every scene. Plus I guess the fanservice was nice too. https://i.imgur.com/pgPAVa2.gif Overall, I give it an 8/10. Pretty good anime for essentially being a glorified advertisement for slot/pachinko machines. | Calwings 09/05/20 4:55:45 PM #60 | After a few days of grinding, I finally made the trek up Mt. Silver to fight Red. I was originally planning on leading with Marowak straight away to take out Pikachu and then switch to deal with whatever Red would send out next, but I thought of another plan. I led with Jolteon, had it use Agility twice, then Baton Passed the +4 speed to Marowak. Jolteon tanked two resisted Thunder attacks as it did so, then Marowak came in and obliterated Pikachu with one Thick Club boosted Bonemerang. Then, Marowak took down Espeon with two Bonemerangs, but Espeon put a huge dent in Marowak's HP with Psychic. After that, Marowak hit Snorlax with Dynamicpunch, Snorlax hit itself in confusion, then it finished Snorlax off with a Bonemerang. Even more surprising, the same thing worked again on Blastoise, who I wasn't sure Marowak was strong enough (even with the Thick Club) to kill with just Dynamicpunch and one Bonemerang. In came Venusaur after that, who stupidly tried to use Solarbeam instead of just finishing off Marowak with Giga Drain, so it went down to two Bonemerangs. And finally, Marowak took down Charizard with a Rock-type Hidden Power to end the battle and this playthrough. That's right, MAROWAK SWEPT RED. I'm not even mad about the hours I wasted grinding the other team members that never entered the battle, because sweeping the final boss with a Pokemon 20 levels lower than most of his team is an awesome way to end a fun playthrough like this. I'm gonna take a little break from Pokemon to focus on some other games for a bit, but I already have a few ideas for what challenge/game to use for my next Pokemon playthrough. Some of these include a mono-type (leaning towards Bug) playthrough, a playthrough where I only catch one new Pokemon between each gym battle, or a "no STAB" playthrough where my Pokemon are not allowed to use offensive moves that would get a same-type attack boost. FULL SERIES: Symphogear = My #1 favorite anime of all time. Lovable characters, amazing animation, fantastic music, fast-paced action, and non-stop hype all the way through. Seriously, Hibiki suplexed a space shuttle, swung an army tank like a baseball bat, and Outlaw Star = The #1 anime from my childhood. Great characters and story, cool and unique action scenes, plus a sense of real adventure and scope that I rarely get from an anime. I loved it back in 2001 and I loved it in my re-watch in 2016, so it's not just nostalgia talking. Kaleido Star = The most uplifting and inspirational anime I've ever seen. In addition to having so many enjoyable characters and an amazing story, Sora's endless optimism and never-give-up attitude actually helped me have a better outlook on my own life going forward. This is the only anime that I can say had a real, tangible effect on my life and behavior, and it's a sentimental favorite for that reason. To this day, I still re-watch the final episode every now and then when I need a pick-me-up. Katanagatari = An artistic masterpiece, plain and simple. The character and weapon designs, the creative dialogue, the action-filled fights, everything about it is so beautiful and well-crafted. Every single episode was a dose of total bliss for my eyes, ears, mind, and soul, especially Shichika's incredible battle against Sabi Hakuhei. That one was so epic that I can't even describe it well enough to do it justice. I don't think anyone can. Kill La Kill = I loved this show for basically the same reasons that I loved Symphogear: great characters, crazy action, and insane hype. It didn't do these quite as well as Symphogear did, but it did have Mako being the greatest comedic relief character that I've ever seen in an anime. Revue Starlight = I loved this show for basically the same reasons that I loved Katanagatari: artistic beauty in every single aspect of the show. Though the animation is a bit weaker, it makes up for that with the incredible music and sheer creativity that enhance the fight scenes even more. Cowboy Bebop = I loved this show for basically the same reasons that I loved Outlaw Star: fun characters, great action, and a sense of adventure while still being episodic. I liked Outlaw Star slightly more because it had better lighthearted moments and extra space combat, but both are amazing. INDIVIDUAL SEASONS: Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's = I loved this show for basically the same reasons that I loved Symphogear, and A's also had the best hero/villain dynamics that I've ever seen in an anime. There were several times in this season where I truly didn't know if I was cheering for Nanoha and Fate or the Wolkenritter, because both sides were so interesting and had such great motivations. Plus, Symphogear never exists if Lyrical Nanoha (and A's in particular) doesn't blaze that trail for violent, action-packed magical girl anime nearly a decade prior. NANA WILLS IT! Selector Infected WIXOSS = The first season of a wild roller coaster ride filled with drama, mystery, suffering, death, and children's card games. It did an amazing job at setting up the eerie world and high stakes of the Selector battles and getting me invested in wanting to see the girls make it out with their lives and minds intact. The dramatic moments were executed perfectly, right up to the cliffhanger ending to set up the second season. Lostorage Conflated WIXOSS = The fourth and final season of the aforementioned wild roller coaster ride. After dropping off a bit in the middle seasons, this season definitively wraps up the WIXOSS story in a very enjoyable way that brings together the Selector and Lostrage casts for one final struggle. WIXOSS as a whole also has my favorite example of a character being upgraded from a relatively minor role in the early part of the story to playing a very important role in the later part of the story, but it does so in a way that still feels organic and not forced. FILMS: Your Name = I saw this in theaters and it was one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had. The story, the romance, the artistic beauty, the fact that it actually managed to make me cry like a little bitch in the theater... it just really hit hard for me. The Disappearance Of Haruhi Suzumiya = A crazy but beautiful story with plenty of plot twists and emotional impacts. The Haruhi series itself was pretty good at making me invested in the cast, but this movie made me appreciate them so much more. Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion = Yes, I gave this movie a 10/10 after only giving the Madoka Magica TV anime a 9/10. Fucking sue me. The story and animation were even more amazing than the series itself, and Homura's journey is one of the greatest characters arcs that I've ever seen in an anime. Plus, it takes a lot of courage for a writer to That's all of the 10/10's that I've given so far, and I severely doubt my top 3 of Symphogear, Outlaw Star, and Kaleido Star will be changing any time soon. He's been wrestling under the same name, gimmick, and mask for nearly 30 years, and he's basically the only Rey Mysterio that the vast majority of pro wrestling fans know. The man with that name and under the mask never changed in that entire time. His uncle (the original Rey Misterio, distinguished by being referred to as Rey Misterio Sr. and the current one wrestling as Rey Misterio Jr. early in his career) and cousin (who wrestles as El Hijo de Rey Misterio) also used the name, but are nowhere near as famous. According to Serebii's page, the first gift Pokemon is N's Zorua. Yeah, the gen 5 games have very few gift Pokemon. In B2/W2, you only get your starter, N's Zorua, an Eevee, and a Deerling during the story. Thankfully, the gen 5 games also have very little HM usage (only Surf and Strength are actually required to beat B2/W2, all others are optional) so you can still complete the game with just those four if you either select Oshawott at the start or evolve Eevee into Vaporeon. However, I don't remember if you can get a Water Stone before the point where you first need Surf in B2/W2, so Vaporeon might not work.
