I actually just finished watching it, you can still get the banana even with the glitch, but it requires some unorthodox methods like turning off the reticle while the fan blade is spinning or continuing to shoot after the timer goes off

Yeah one of my buddies also recommended the first as well. I think I remember him telling me that the game would have you backtrack to old rooms and dead bodies would just be moved to different locations. Which honestly sounded way more interesting

Yeah the pacing is sort of the center of my main issue with it too. I admittedly haven't played many other survival horror games, but it definitely didn't feel like one. Outlast for example never even gives you a weapon. It's all about testing your stealth and resourcefulness under pressure as many of the boss fights are actually just you solving a puzzle while being stalked by an unkillable enemy.

Dead Space 2 on the other hand gives you a gun with plenty of ammo and fighting Necros ends up being more fun than scary with no real penalty for choosing to fight. Later on however they throw so many enemies at you, they just become more of a nuisance than anything and the only thing you have to stress about is your ammo and health reserves. Resulting in more frustration than fear and that was after I switched back to Normal too. Casual was that easy absolutely nothing was a threat.

I do still think there was a lot to like, plus I think the addition of New Game Plus and the higher difficulties (especially Hardcore) can make this a really fun game to replay once you're not spending most your credits on new suits and weapons.

Yeah despite being a mess I do think Heavy Rain is better than TWD especially if you factor in anything past the first season. I haven't played Life is Strange myself, but from what little I've seen it seems just as corny and clumsily written as Heavy Rain.

I'm pretty cautiously optimistic. Nintendo generally has a habit of making dumb decisions that hurt otherwise outstanding games and Pokemons been even worse.

Origami King is my chief example, the standard battle system just wasn't very good. I still played the crap out of it, but the battles definitely held it back for me.

I'll definitely be buying this day one and I'm insanely hyped for it, but I'm keeping my expectations grounded. Better to get a pleasant surprise than to be disappointed.

Dead Space 2 is beaten.

I definitely enjoyed my time with it for the most part. The atmosphere and combat really stood out to me as the highlights.

I'm kinda wishy washy on how I feel about the survival horror aspect to it. Specifically how Dead Space handles it at least, I thought it was brilliant in RE7 and Outlast. I think I'm gonna wait until your final thoughts before delving into it more though.

I'm going to jump ahead to Bastion, although when you get to Terraria I wouldn't be opposed to joining a server if you might've been looking to set one up

Oh yeah I've always found the genre fascinating for that reason. It really gives them a unique feel compared to other games. I think I just got too caught up in treating it like an action game. I really should've just been stingier with supplies, it also doesn't help that I never thought to backtrack to the shops.

So I did some catching up today and played through a lot of the game. The first 6 or so chapters were really fun imo. The combat's been a blast and I was loving the huge variety in enemy types, but as things continued I started getting... frustrated. I'll use spoiler tags on the next part, but it's just gameplay and difficulty spoilers.

Starting around Chapter 7, there's a pretty big spike in difficulty. You get attacked by a lot more enemies that take more damage and your supplies start becoming scarce. About midway through Chapter 9 I actually had to drop the difficulty to casual. I had completely run out of ammo and just didn't have another option. It's a shame, because I was enjoying the more difficulty enemies, it just sucks because I don't have a decent way to fight them anymore. Not hating on the game, I just don't think I'm suited for the genre haha.

A bit late here, but yeah Ghost Trick was great. I didn't know how to feel about the ending at first, but I think I've warmed up to it.

It could easily be a darker game with more serious themes, but I think there's plenty of those out there to play. While I do like games like Zero Escape or Danganronpa more it was really refreshing to get a cute little story where everyone gets a happy ending. It's a lot better as a nice little standalone story that doesn't try to be more than it is.

I think if I had any issues, some of the puzzles weren't the most clear. I distinctly remember when you have to drop the chandelier on the wife of the Prime Minister. I had gone to do it, but my timing was a little off and she dodged it. So while I had found the right answer, there was no indication that I just had to to attempt it again as I thought that would happen every time. But that's really just a nitpick, overall it was really good. Probably in the Top 3 of the 2011 games I've already played.

I guess that's a fair enough way to look at it. I do generally want to avoid pirating and would always prefer buying it legally.

I just really wasn't a fan of how they handled 3D All Stars and I kinda fear how their future emulation will be handled. Which leads me to the dilemma of playing Nintendo's potentially inferior port or do I stop supporting their emulation efforts and just play the illegal ones.

I think it's because of how much longer video games are than say movies or books. A 5/10 game might be decent for a couple of hours, but I wouldn't want to spend 10-50 hours on it. Whereas a 7/10 game is good enough that I'd be more willing to justify that kind of time sink.

Nintendo's really been scaring the shit out of me. Between them delisting the DSi games unannounced, plus the dreaded March 31st is coming up. They've got me thinking about buying a bunch of the N64, GBA and DS games they have on the Wii U VC.

Is buying a bunch of them rational? I really don't want to miss out on some of these games, but at the same time my backlog is already an issue ugh.
