And humans aren't immune. Lex Luthor literally got cancer due to carrying a chunk around 24/7 for years.

Would sort of be like if Earth exploded and you got to another planet. Then someone poured nuclear waste all over you.

Going "Well It came from Earth and I came from Earth so... I should be fine." doesn't add up. Something about the planet exploding or the core or whatever made the entire debris remaining be soaked in this radiation. It existed before but wasn't a problem for day to day life of the Kyrptonians.

Top House Democrats are moving to force Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene off multiple committees this week with or without Kevin McCarthys help.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer delivered an ultimatum to McCarthy on Monday: Either Republicans move on their own to strip Greene (R-Ga.) of her committee assignments within 72 hours, or Democrats will bring the issue to the House floor.

The Democrats move, while highly unusual, comes amid intense fury within the Democratic Caucus over Greenes long record of incendiary rhetoric, including peddling conspiracy theories that the nations deadliest mass shootings were staged. Greene also endorsed violence against Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats before she was elected to Congress.

Last week, Greene was officially awarded seats on the House Education and Labor Committee and the House Budget Committee.

Republicans, meanwhile, have been slow to act, with McCarthy saying only hes planning to have a conversation with Greene about the mounting controversies sometime this week. The meeting between McCarthy and Greene has still not been scheduled, but could take place as early as Tuesday evening.
And Greene has shown zero contrition for her past actions, tweeting over the weekend that she will never apologize. She also took a jab at Hoyer on Twitter Monday and revealed plans to travel to Florida "soon" to meet with former President Donald Trump, who she said supports her "100 percent."
Democrats are already teeing up potential floor action if McCarthy doesn't act, scheduling a Rules Committee hearing for Wednesday afternoon on a resolution to strip Greene of her committee posts.
Some Republicans are privately warning of a dangerous new precedent if Democrats make a determination about who from the minority party is best fit to serve on committees, opening up the potential for a tit-for-tat between the two parties especially if Republicans win back the House in two years. But while Democrats privately acknowledge their action is controversial, they say Greene's behavior and rhetoric must be addressed forcefully.

The resolution introduced at todays pro forma would remove Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committee assignments," Hoyer said in a statement. "It is my hope and expectation that Republicans will do the right thing and hold Rep. Greene accountable, and we will not need to consider this resolution. But we are prepared to do so if necessary.

Wasserman Schultz on Taylor Greene: 'Expulsion is a fitting punishment'

On a leadership call on Sunday, Hoyer, Pelosi and other top Democrats discussed several options for taking action against Greene, including censure, expulsion and the resolution authored by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) that the Rules panel is considering Wednesday.

Were focused on making sure that we can render powerless the poisonous nature of this member, Wasserman Schultz told reporters Monday, just before introducing her measure. The House has to be able to take actions to police its own membership.

A growing number of House Democrats say they are determined to punish Greene for her rhetoric and have drafted a slew of measures to do so. That includes two of the most severe sanctions that can be taken against a member of Congress: a formal censure and expulsion from the House.

Democrats are not ruling out further action and say this weeks move could be a first step.
The effort to force McCarthys hand creates even more of a conundrum for the California Republican, who is under increasing pressure from Democrats and some GOP-affiliated groups to take action against Greene yet may be reluctant to alienate the Trump wing of the party. The GOP leader, desperate to keep his ranks united, even trekked to Mar-a-Lago last week to make amends with the former president.
If McCarthy declines to deal with Greene internally and Democrats indeed bring this issue to the floor, it will force every single Republican to go on the record over Greene a scenario that could put some GOP lawmakers in a tough spot.

And over the weekend, Greene also claimed she has talked to Trump amid the firestorm and has his full backing. She followed that on Monday by telling One America News that she plans to visit Trump in Florida soon. That could make it even tougher for GOP leaders to punish Greene. Plus, Greene is under scrutiny for comments that she made before her time in Congress, making the issue of penalizing her more difficult.

Still, allies to McCarthy insist he hasnt decided how to proceed and won't cave to pressure from Democrats. Whether he decides to discipline Greene will depend on how their sit-down conversation goes later this week, with McCarthy determined to do whatever he thinks is best for his conference.
McCarthy had a similar face-to-face meeting in 2019 with former Rep. Steve King after he questioned why the term white nationalism was so offensive in an interview with The New York Times. The Iowa Republican showed little remorse during their interaction, and shortly afterward, McCarthy booted King from his committees a move that the California Republican likes to tout when pressed on his willingness to hold his own members accountable.

Many Democrats say publicly and privately they do not expect McCarthy to take action and have been preparing their own options. Greene, meanwhile, has remained publicly defiant, though she has scrubbed some of her past social media posts.

If we are waiting for Kevin McCarthy to have a moral compass ... that's never going to happen, Rep. Jahana Hayes (D-Conn.), who represents the site of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, told reporters Monday as she demanded the House act to strip Greene of all committee positions.
Hayes said Greene has "forfeited her right" to take part in a House panel, particularly the Education Committee. Her elevation in the party is dangerous."

Dogged is a word that means stubbornly tenacious, and when it comes to devotion, theres no dog more dogged than a fluffy white pooch named Boncuk who patiently waited outside the doors of a hospital for almost an entire week for her hooman to come home.

When Boncuks owner Cemal entrk went in for treatment in the Turkish city of Trabzon, the determined doggo trailed the ambulance he was riding in to the Medical Park Hospital.

entrks daughter Aynur Egeli explained that while Boncuk (meaning bead) was sent home each night and placed under house arrest, the next day, the cagey canine would be off to the hospital againall by herself.

She kept up the routine for entrks entire stay.

The dog comes here every day at around 9 in the morning, waits until the evening, and then leaves. She never comes inside, but waits for her owner [outside], hospital security guard, Muhammet Akdeniz, told Turkish news service DHA.

The hospital staff made something of a mascot of Boncuk, feeding her and giving her water. entrk could sometimes see his loyal pet outside his hospital room window. Cheered by her visits, hed wave to her and call her name.

After six days, entrk was discharged. His companion of nine years was there waiting for him, her tail wagging, jubilant to be reunited with her doggy daddy.

Boncuk has behaved really sweet during the six days and has managed to capture the love and affection of the whole staff, the hospitals international patient center director Murat Ercan told CNN.

Katalin Karik is now being talked about for a Nobel Prize, but life wasnt always so congratulatory for her, and the story about how she practically invented mRNA and RNA-derived therapies and vaccinesthe basis of so many lifesaving treatmentswas filled with challenges.

When Karik left her native Hungary with husband and young child, she had just $1,200 stuffed in her daughters teddy bear. Now, after years of her work developing mRNA and RNA technologies, she is the senior vice-president for the German pharmaceutical giant BioNTech, and her work has received more than 12,000 academic citations.

After graduating with a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Szeged, she afterwards embarked on a research career at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

However, after getting laid off, Karik subsequently relocated to the United States after receiving an invitation from Temple University in Philadelphia in 1985. She would eventually transfer to University of Pennsylvania, which would end up being an extremely difficult period.

In that time, messenger RNA research was extremely popular, but shortly after she arrived, the method for using a viruss genetic material to command a human body to duplicate certain proteins to fight the virus was considered too radical, and too financially risky to fund.

The pair are being talked about for a Nobel Prize, including by famed British intellectual Richard Dawkins and Moderna CEO Derek Rossi.

This year theyve already scooped up the Rosenstiel Award for Distinguished Work in Basic Medicine.

Through their painstaking research into mRNAand persistence despite setbacks Weissman and Karik laid the groundwork for vaccines that will save countless lives, said Director of the Rosenstiel Center for Research on Basic Medical Sciences.

In an interview with CNN, Karik, with eyes as blue as sea glacier ice, explained that the time for awards and celebrations will come at another time, when the pandemic she will be chiefly responsible for ending, indeed ends.

A woman in her 50s has been arrested after she punched a convenience store manager who asked her to wear a mask while she was in the store.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 7:50 p.m. on Saturday at the store in Nagata Ward, Fuji TV reported. When the store manager asked the woman to wear a face mask as a measure against the coronavirus, the woman refused and hit him in the face.

Another employee pushed an alarm button which summoned police. Police said the woman, whose name and age have not been released, appeared to be drunk at the time of her arrest.

Police in Tokyo have arrested a 37-year-old elementary school teacher on suspicion of violating the child prostitution law after he allegedly paid a junior high school girl for sex last year.

According to police, Takahisa Nagai became acquainted with the 14-year-old girl on Twitter and arranged to meet her at an internet cafe in Shinjukus Kabukicho district on Sept 6, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Police said he paid the girl 20,000 yen and performed a lewd act on her in a private room.

Police said Nagai has admitted meeting the girl and that he knew she was a minor, but quoted him as denying that he did anything obscene.

Police said Nagai and the girl had exchanged messages several times before their encounter.

In RE2make you unlocked OP weapons by beating the game with high ranks.

Infinite Rocket Launcher that breaks the game is unlocked by beating the game on Hardcore with S+. You have to earn it.

In RE3 instead you get "points" for completing records. You use points to unlock the OP weapons.

So you get tons of points for "killing x amount of enemies with x weapon" which you can do on easy. It's just a timesink.

So instead of skill you unlock things by wasting time.

Ellie just had dumb melodramatic tropes stolen from other media and inserted without rhyme or reason or decent pacing happen around her.

When and in what way did Ellie actually change at all? What event in the story was supposed to have a relatable fundamental connection with a player on an emotional level beyond surface level melodrama?

This is the David Cage level of Storytelling. Slitting a pregnant lady's throat isn't deep storytelling because it's an unpleasant thing to happen.

Your logic would be like if Up ended with Carl Fredricksen seeing the photo Album then staying in the house and still being grumpy but he came to terms with his wife's passing and unfullfilled life. No the character arc wasn't that he came to terms, it was that he changed because he came to terms. Ellie never did. Abby never did.

Nothing I have said has been anything other than my opinion and I have repeatedly named examples from several other games to compare and contrast for almost any point I have made, something you and the others like you have ignored.

Here's a very short version: Ellie despises Joel for lying to her and finding out the truth. Ellie attempts to forgive Joel and accept him again. Abby kills Joel before this can happen. Ellie's driven to bloodlust to avenge Joel, but it's really about her struggling with not having closure. Abby's totally justified in killing Joel for actual revenge and then breaks the cycle by allowing Ellie to live. Ellie still cant let it go and it costs her a happy ending. Ellie finally gets Abby where she can kill her and only NOW does she have the actual choice to forgive, let go and accept not just what Abby did, but Joel's betrayal. They flat out cut to a scene of Joel and Ellie during this moment to spell it out for everyone yet people STILL don't get it.

No we got it. It's just trite. That's not an arc. No. It's not having an unjustified ego to point out things in a story heavy game that takes itself seriously don't make sense, and you're not "too stupid to understand" a story that even you admit is immensely simple and basic because you ask basic fundamental questions about the actions and motivations of the characters.

Kinda the opposite really. You're just dismissing and any all criticism or strong storytelling techniques as "People who are stupid!" which is immensely childish.

Holy shit Unfair's mocking people for thinking TLoU2 was "nuanced, complex and cerebral" despite him completely being wrong about so much of the story it's embarrassing.

The story was great, but I wouldn't use any of those words to describe it, but at the exact same time, people have shown stunning ignorance and stupidity alongside the reading comprehension of a first grader. I mean TC doesn't even seem to know what a character arc is. You can not like something, but just claiming it doesn't exist makes you look like you either didn't even play it or are just too thick to actually "get it" despite it being obvious to get in the first place.

Basically anyone who claims the story is about "revenge" is just someone whose opinion you can write off. It's just funny that they're the same people who will claim there's no depth or anything to it while being flat out wrong about the entire theme that's spelled out for you in the end.

I will say that I like that difficulty setting actually mattered.

The difference between Easy and Hardcore is jarring. In a lot of games I legit can't tell the difference.

Sure it made some people hard on Youtube but that's like 14 red flags right there for a Silent Hill game.

Silent Hill 2 is one of the greatest games ever made and consists of a generic guy in generic brown enviroments, with like 1 Jumpscare and monsters who didn't seem to really care about you at all.

Because it was well made. Everything was drenched in symbolism and had meaning. Isolation was a major theme and the visuals they did have worked because the game wasn't trying to be spectacular.

Silent Hills would not have been close to that emotional beat. It would have been at best something like The Evil Within. Just generic horror imagery with high production values

Silent Hills being canceled was great. It reminded everyone of horror games and then other people made some good ones.

I really think Cyberpunk 2077 is the best game of 2020 even with all the glitches on release. It says something about games in general when a game like that sells millions on hype alone and really isn't that good either. Games are pretty bad now. You have developers making gmaes that were made 20 years ago on lower budgets or AAA developers shovelling garbage and drama. Still Cyberpunk manages to be better than most other open world games too which says something. And it's not good.

The hype will say otherwise and it's terrible too which shows how backwards things really are. It's all hype. Angry Joe is just another one of those people trying to be cool too.

Ihaven't played it myself but I think Pro reviewers would struggle to justify making their GOTY a game that literally doesn't work and is blatantly unfinished.

Especially Angry Joe who has been so hostile towards Triple A developers dodgy businsess practices for unfinished games and live service bullshit.

You're making the argument about Ellie and Abby not being well-rounded when the purpose of the character-arc is to change through the course of the story and end up in a different position than they were at the start. We see that with both characters. You're stating that they also don't have arcs, and it's nothing but a semantic stop sign because you're trying to end any argument otherwise.

Once again, this is nothing but semantics that ignore context. Why does Ellie play guitar? What connects her to the guitar? Why does she leave the guitar at the end of the game? All these questions have an answer and it's an integral part of Ellie's character, not the main focus of the game. Character arc and personality traits aren't inherently disjointed from each other. You can develop traits from character arcs, example in Part I, Ellie becoming withdrawn and less talkative following her encounter with David, it's quite the opposite from Ellie in the beginning, There's a difference between returning where you started and resetting to where you started. In the former case you evolved and progressed, but in the later you legit lost everything since last time you where at that point.

She doesn't return. She abandons (again) all the people who need her to go live in a farm (despite zombies) and raise a baby she's clearly not mature enough to handle. Then abandons her baby and spends 2 weeks in a basement.

This isn't a character who has "lost everything" is a block of wood going from set-piece to set-piece for the point of melodrama. She doesn't learn or change at all.

That is Part II in the literal sense, she gains negative traits from a negative encounter, however, finds herself redeemed and hopeful at the end of the game. Same with Abby, negative traits in the beginning, yet, she finds herself redeemed at the end because she progressed from being selfish to selfless.

How the hell is she redeemed or no longer negative or selfless? In both cases they both literally abandoned the people who need them and continued acting the way they always did throughout the entire game.

Abby and Ellie getting beaten up isn't character development dude.

Who says it's supposed to be deep?
