I do agree people won't really care about justices, though, but in this case I mean the government would need the popular support of the people to fight the courts. We kind of saw this with impeachment, but reforming the court without amendments or just straight up ignoring their rulings is much easier than impeaching a president or justice.

The instant Biden tries that he will get sued and the suit will go to the supreme court, which will hold by a 6-3 decision that supreme court justices hold their positions until death or voluntary retirement.

At which point the Dems could (correctly) paint the Supreme Court as partisan hacks who are looking out for their own jobs and obstructing a democratic reform to win public favor.

Or simply punish them by using Congress to expand the courts, which does not need an amendment or their approval.

The issue with trying to not make it a lifetime position is that is is explicitly in the constitution as a lifetime position, so it would take a constitutional amendment to do so.

The proposed workaround is that the constitution says judges "hold office during good behavior" but doesn't specify which office, so you simply give them a position on an inferior court.

By the way, very stupid that the lifetime position rule comes from that phrase. If Congress doesn't impeach a Justice but issues a resolution stating a Justice has "bad behavior" do they lose their job? Dumb document.

I addressed this briefly already. This is a major difference between the prequels and the OT/Sequels, which are very much content to do weird Force-related bullshit (which, by the way, is GOOD and I like it!). With Padme, the fact that Obi-Wan is standing there and doesn't understand, and the medical drone doesn't understand, AND Lucas made sure to include midichlorians to make sure Force connection is medically quantifiable means that Padme's death is just handwaved.

Take any random scene from the prequels with dumpster fire writing/acting, and you can at least believe that in-universe, the characters would broad strokes be saying and/or doing something similar, just less ridiculous.

But the Rey/Kylo kiss is absolute unbelievable garbage even from a completely in-universe perspective.

The scene in Episode 3 where Padme dies in childbirth, not due to medical complications, but from depression doing an instakill on her life force. No character motivation. No in-universe explanation. Only because it has to happen for the plot of the OT and I suppose Lucas wanted to make sure it happened on screen so she stayed dead for good.

This is the single worst written scene in the entire film series, and I will die on this hill.

Regardless of which movie is your favorite among the sequels, there's only one good one, so that's the same as the prequels, but the actiony choreography is worse across the board and the music likewise. So like...what does it have over them? Maybe a couple good money shots?

Uh, acting by far? Arguably directing as well though ep9 is a chaotic mess.

Also I've been told I play Shield wrong because my preferred playstyle is to pick Zeus shield, put some kind of multi-hit status (hangover, chill, lightning) on Special, Poseidon on Attack, and then just run around like a madman slamming enemies into walls while rarely ever blocking or Bull Rushing.

EM4 is funny but not something I would ever actually take if I wanted to win.

It's tearing me up because I think I would have had a chance if Hades didn't roll the worst possible minibosses. I was on Magnet claws with Doom on Special and Hangover on Attack. But the thing about some enemies is (and I could be wrong) that when they leave the screen, they clear their statuses. Hades's invisibility works like this, I'm pretty sure and he first rolled Skull-Crusher, and then Skull-Crusher + Wretched Sneak. I don't think Crusher clears ailments when it jumps but Sneak absolutely does. Regardless, it was very hard to get hits in on both and they just ate up so much time and health to deal with since I had no effective way of quickly taking them down.

On a more positive note, had a pretty sick Blade Rift build


Not pictured here is the Ares dash and Hermes Dash+2, and Engulfing Vortex as the enabler for the legendary. I became an unstoppable whirlwind of death. I didn't have a lot of respect for Ares's cast because the base cast is so mediocre, but oh boy does it get going once you get some investment in it.

This is early voting, not vote by mail. In Texas, plenty of Republicans vote early. It's bipartisan. Probably part of why the early voting setup is so good here is that Republicans reliably turn up for it.

Also a lot of these counties are suburbs that have been moving left since then, not sure if it's enough to flip but as 2018 shows, we shouldn't expect it to be the same margins as 2016.

You know, the failure to appear rate for general misdemeanors is an average of almost 15%. Guess they should've just locked you up for your DUIs and took everything you own.

Also how much of this 15-20% is actual bad faith attempts to dodge consequences versus bureaucratic issues, other issues with accessibility, or the government agencies not giving a shit? Because that stuff can be reduced and these numbers improved!

Again, the hand that would be forced belongs to Mitch McConnell. From the article, it sounds like his is planning to go forward with the ACB confirmation to further distract from the issue. I would expect him to do this even if a deal is reached, because he knows he can.

The problem with Supreme Court expansion (or any other meaningful court reform) is that voters won't support it as a solution to hypothetical bad SCOTUS decisions in the future. Until bad things actually happen, people who don't follow politics closely will just write off warnings of what the court will do as more partisan bickering over nothing.

But even if you don't think this, the courts are about to repeal the ACA so that should win people over.

Last week sometime progressives in the House released a letter preemptively calling to ban CEOs from Cabinet positions for the presumed Biden presidency. You do love to see it, but I'm wondering if they knew all this in advance.

And let's be real - Biden's cabinet was always going to lean conservative without any outside pressure, and I think focusing specifically on Never Trump Rs is a distraction from that. At this point I wouldn't be surprised at all if he picked Hillary Clinton again.

Maybe y'all don't remember the first escape, but it is so intense. You're totally focused on getting as good of a build as possible and playing perfectly, and you know you won't make it, but you try anyway since it could happen if everything aligns

I mean no, this doesn't sound like my experience at all! I cleared while I was still experimenting with new powers and weapons, on the Sword, which I wasn't too comfortable with. I had a subpar build with some defensive buffs. But I was able to make it work because I enjoy the gameplay and I was simply getting better at playing the game. Then I was immediately rewarded by being able to turn up the difficulty and get past the bottleneck on rewards.

But yeah if you don't find the gameplay itself very fun then sure. I will say it is LEAGUES better than Bastio. I revisited that game 3 years ago and the combat was very mediocre. Hades's is a blast.

Also, frankly, if you are really focused on the story I think you are going to be disappointed. It's very enjoyable, it's integrated well into the gameplay cycle, but to again compare to Bastion, it's not on that level.

I mean I just don't agree with that at all. After the first clear the game incentivizes you not only to switch weapons for more bounties, but to immediately bump up the heat to refresh the bounties on them. And that gives you the rewards you want - blood, diamonds, and nectar - that will continue to rank up your runs. I am fairly certain I still don't have Heat 0 clears on some weapons even after 15-20 clears, just because it wasn't worth it to go through the entire run for 1 blood compared to continuously bumping up Heat.

So again, the problem is you're valuing the clear itself too highly.
