Yeah saying the US has over 50 times the death rate of most rich East Asian countries tells you it is indeed bad, but when you compare it to the rest of the West it's basically middle of the pack. I think a lot of people on the West are stuck between two problems. One obviously many in the media simply hate Trump and no matter what he does it will be criticized, but Trump is indeed a bad leader and makes a lot of bad decisions, so that alone isn't the issue. The other issues, the one that really hurts to admit, is that Western culture is simply not hygenic and they refused to listen to the democratic countries in East Asia that handled things well. Between claiming masks don't actually work and travel bans don't work and are racist they allowed themselves to be infected and didn't take efforts until it was too late. Other aspects like handshakes, churches, and other cultural factors contributed too. So meanwhile you have Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, etc. all doing travel bans and telling everyone to wear masks right away and none of them getting badly infected (the few bad infection outbreaks in Korea were born of Western-style churches with a similar philosophy on hygiene and masks). It's not like a legally obtained ROM differs significantly in terms of code, and it wouldn't make sense if it did. It has to do with copyright, not the actual file itself. So yes, you definitely won't enjoy that. I don't think random encounters are a bad thing though, but I understand why people dislike them. I have a much greater dislike for very slow combat systems.
