Yeah my wife and I have a trip to Japan booked for the end of April and we're not sure whether to keep it or not. We're waiting til April 1st to make our decision.

It's like you said, TC. Lots of stuff is closed, so it's not gonna be fun. And why spend a bunch of money on a trip that you won't enjoy?

I'm not limiting my points to just story.

But If we are talking about story: Elder scrolls, Skyrim, Witcher 3, Fallout 1,2,3, NV, 4, Outer Worlds. Many games have story freedom.

But then there is also mechanical freedom. Tons of games are examples of this. But I'll give a good one: Take something like Hitman, you've got like a bazillion ways to kill somebody and tons of characters on scripts that you can interact with in various ways to orchestrate the hit. The same mission can be played a hundred times and have a completely unique experience each time.

I could list games all day. Basically there are many games with narrative freedom, and TONS of games where the mechanics give you gameplay freedom. You can express yourself in how you play.

In RDR2 you basically have 1 way to play any mission or side quest and that's it. Virtually no mechanical freedom.

FFS in new vegas they say "hey you can go straight north to new vegas but it's hard af" and then guess what: you can go straight north to new vegas but it's hard af.

I'm sure @Malfunction would call that "Not good game design"
