CT has begun opening: most stores are open now, but capacity is heavily restricted. Restaurants may only seat patrons outside, and all tables must be at least 6 ft. apart.
On June 1st, they're slated to allow salons and barbers to re-open under restrictions. The state is now offering testing for free in many different places and encouraging citizens to get tested if they feel ill or believe they may have been exposed, which feels like a prelude to full-on contact tracing.
Fairfield, New Haven, and Hartford counties were the counties that were most affected(they contain basically all the notable cities and many people living in the former two commute to NYC for work) have all shown a steady decline in active cases for a while now.

I think this is it. Though it is more because of omission than condoning lesbians and women being attracted to women: lesbians were/are barely represented in popular media, whereas there is a long history of gay men being portrayed as weak, effeminate, and worthy of scorn and ridicule. As a millenial, growing up, "gay" was absolutely commonly used in my group as a pejorative.

A lot of them won't come back. Companies will decide they can do more with less(it's very appealing to them from a fiscal standpoint) and lots of small businesses are just going to straight-up go under. The restaurant business has notoriously tight margins and is going to suffer particularly badly, probably you'll even see some chains go under.
In other industries, well, I got loaded up with a bunch of new duties at Whole Foods(mostly cleaning related, but also some inventory related) and I'm probably never going to get out of doing them, even though my "hazard pay" is getting nixed in three days. More work for the same compensation, gotta love it...

Haha you're delusional.

They hit Target because "free shit". Not because they give money to cops. Lmao
Call it a little much-needed economic stimulus.

Riots are the wages of societal sins. There has been broad awareness of this problem for decades, there have been thousands of protests, most of them peaceful, attempting to draw support and reform of this very problem, and they were ignored. Worse, they were told by many there wasn't a problem at all. Throw in a pandemic and the beginnings of an economic depression, and people have simply borne more than anyone could bear. The cops would never allow these people to attack the real target of their enmity(they would, quite literally, slaughter them first), so they vent their anger elsewhere.

I would urge anyone the least bit sympathetic to the good people of Minneapolis to donate to this. The cops are going to brutalize anyone they get their hands on.

The Green Party literally put up someone who thinks wifi gives kids brain tumors last election, and took 0% of the vote. It's actually a generous statement.

Honestly, it isn't helped that the Greens are viewed as "Democrats with a focus on environmentalism". Inevitably, you'll vote for the Democrats because they have the appeal and aside from the green bent believe all the same things.
I mean, Jill Stein did try to lift some of Bernie's platform, but it was (rightly) drowned out by her pandering to anti-vaxxers and other assorted idiots.
The fact she placed 4th with barely more than 1% of the vote makes the whole saw about the Greens "spoiling" the election funnier than usual.
If the Greens can shut out the crazies, this election is probably their best chance since 2000 to reach the magic 5% threshold. I have every confidence they'll screw it up.

I think America must see that riots do not develop out of thin air. Certain conditions continue to exist in our society which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots. But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, equality, and humanity. And so in a real sense our nations summers of riots are caused by our nations winters of delay. And as long as America postpones justice, we stand in the position of having these recurrences of violence and riots over and over again. Social justice and progress are the absolute guarantors of riot prevention.
-Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In this time of pain, suffering, and fear, the public murder of George Floyd was what made the situation too much to bear.

I think Yellow Diamond was always uncomfortable with shattering gems, and thats why she seems to have made multiple attempts to fix them by jamming gem shards together. She was also obsessed with earning White Diamonds approval and appreciation and was very disconnected from her feelings, so she invented an acceptable pretext for her work that both absolved her and the other diamonds of the full horror of their actions and framed it in more (to her) familiar terms of war. The object was to create useful gems to be weapons, culminating in the Cluster, something she hoped would be a great weapon. That it would annihilate Earth and further erase Pink Diamonds memory was probably a bonus she savored more than she would ever admit.
Ironically, the Cluster was successful, but only because Steven was able to connect with it and convince it that it didnt need to form or be anything: its countless shards could simply interact with one another, enabling the Cluster to actually become the powerful, reliable weapon Yellow Diamond had dreamed of, except for the part where it wrecked her ship in an arm wrestling contest. In the end, when confronted by Blue and Steven, she breaks down and cries, something she apparently has never done on her own.
Just imagine being so out of tune with yourself that you thought your little sister had been murdered for thousands of years and you wont admit to having shed a single autonomous tear for her for fear of your mom thinking youre weak or your sister finally snapping.

In the end, Yellow finally does get to fix shatttered gems, but for real! Now that shes learned to use her power over gem forms for healing, she can carefully piece shattered gems together and heal fractures, enabling her to resurrect gems. She even seems to have a system going: she makes them small, to prevent them from harming her or themselves (after all, the last thing they remember is being shattered at the behest of a diamond!) and has a companion gem on hand to help calm them. She is so happy doing this she even talks of working on the Cluster( though, by that point, the Cluster is probably happy as it is), which would be a monumental task ever for an immortal space goddess.

THERE were two Reigns of Terror, if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the horrors of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terrorthat unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.
That's Mark Twain. Some of ya'll treating property damage like it's the Reign of Terror(and the mainstream media certainly will, as capital is its master), so I think it's appropriate.
Since the very beginning, this country has brutalized black people. Even in this day and age, when you can load up a video of a cop kneeling on a restrained black man's throat until he asphyxiates(a process that took many minutes), some people still have the nerve to try and gaslight the victims by downplaying it, by telling them to wait for justice that rarely comes from a legal system designed(intentionally and not) to absolve cops to the greatest possible extent. We hold the oppressed to infinitely higher standards than their oppressors.

I sincerely doubt Joe Biden cares about his platform.
For a recent example:
https://www.ontheissues.org/economic/barack_obama_social_security.htm
https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2013/04/reality-check-obama-cuts-social-security-and-medicare-by-much-more-than-the-gop/274919/
Also, the framing of the second article is just precious.
The only reason Obama's attempt at a "grand bargain"(i.e. cutting Social Security and Medicare) failed is because Tea Party Republicans revolted over giving tax increases in exchange. Yes, they're extremely stupid.

And Barack Obama ran well to Biden's left and didn't have a decades-long record of pushing for such cuts. Remind me again, but what was Biden doing at the time?
But, no, I'm sure Biden really means it when he says he won't cut those programs, and I have every confidence that Larry Summers and Rahm Emmanuel will give him great advice on the subject.

Imagine hand waving the legislation Biden has written and company he kept as simply being out of touch. Oof.
Yeah, it requires some mental gymnastics to conclude that Joe Biden repeatedly, over a course of 30+ years, just completely accidentally gave consistent support to legislation which caused disproportionate harm to African Americans and people of color.

Oh, here's a doozy:
"Unless we do something about this, my children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point. We have got to make some move on this."
-Joe Biden, 1977, on school integration

https://www.businessinsider.com/biden-said-desegregation-would-create-a-racial-jungle-2019-7
This article talks a lot more about his opposition to busing, which also exposes how limited his thinking is
For example, he concern-trolls about the quality of majority-black schools, as though them being worse is an inherent law of reality and not something that could be fixed.

Over and beyond that, this guy loved openly-racist segregationists like James Eastland, Jesse Helms, and Strom Thurmond, though of course he wasn't alone in that.

Trump actually did run a reasonably competent campaign the first time around: his team quickly identified a path to 270 and invested basically all of its resources in it, while Hillary basically took Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania for granted while making investments in states like Arizona and Georgia that she was never going to win barring a huge blowout. She literally bought ad time in Salt Lake City.

It's possible his campaign will be much dumber this time around(Trump has basically fired everyone that was anything approaching competent in his administration, presumably because they kept telling him not to do whatever he wanted), but I would recommend against betting on it. His team will certainly have no shortage of money for ads(and there'll be plenty of shady ass Super PACs running blatantly pro-Trump ads too, for what it's worth).

It bears mentioning: although Trump isn't going to win more than ~6% of the black vote(what he won in 2016), he can certainly convince black voters Joe Biden isn't worth their time. Hillary won 91% of black voters, and several polls have shown Biden polling worse than that. If nothing else, it could effectively sap Biden's margin of victory.
