Not letting people vote doesn't help either candidate. Neither candidate was interested in this step for a reason.

Unfortunately, voter trends do dictate that this will probably save lives.

There's a couple problems in that republicans will hold up and likely defeat vote by mail in the courts. And second the fact that historically a large number of people show up to vote for President and dont vote downballot.

Events are not everything but they are the riskiest of everything. One asymptomatic spreader at a large event and the whole economy shuts down again..

...ok, i'm not joining the muffin/sephyg camp by any means, but this is the first time during this pandemic when i think my government is maybe being a tad hysterical? as of right now, 0.2% of dutch people have the virus, the number of people with the virus has been decreasing for awhile, and we were obviously going to continue with an "intelligent lockdown" for awhile anyway. i'm not so sure getting rid of all events for the entire summer/destroying the economy over this is the wise decision to make.

This is probably a wise decision.

If cases aren't approaching 0 by fall a resurgence is more likely.
