I usually try to get as close to 3:2 as possible, which is the old 35mm ratio, but I'll go to a bigger aspect ratio if I need a wider shot like taking pictures of a server rack or landscapes. Of course, I always end up forgetting to reset the camera so I'll end up taking pictures for a while at a weird setting.

I just took a pic of my dog and I'm looking at the image and it's all stupidly long and narrow... D'OH! It's set on that weird 72:35 ratio!

What aspect ratio do you usually use?

1:1 was used in the Kodak 120 film and Polaroid cameras and used to be common in older webcams and on Instagram prior to 2015.

5:4 was common in large and medium format photography (8"x10", for instance)

3:2 was the standard for 35mm and APS-C film cameras and most DSLRs.

4:3 was the standard for Four Thirds and point-and-shoot digital cameras as well as CRT televisions and monitors.

16:9 was the standard for APS-H film and is the current standard for most modern HD LCD TVs and monitors.

16:10 was the old standard for LCD monitors up until about 2011 (e.g. 1920x1200).

3:1 was the APS-P standard and is very rare in digital photography.

Many phones can do non-standard image sizes; for instance my Galaxy Note9 can do 4032x1960 (which is a totally weird 72:35 ratio)

The word "ramparts" always makes me chuckle. "Ram parts" Like an ovine dingus.

"Analyst" is funny too, because it has "anal" in it.

"Potatoes" is funny because it reminds me of a horse named Potoooooooo (Pot-8-Os), who got his name when a stable boy was asked to write the name "Potatoes" on a feed bin and wrote it literally like it sounded, Pot followed by 8 Os. The owner was so amused he kept the spelling. (This is a real thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potoooooooo)

If you eat a proper balanced diet you don't need vitamins. But who the heck eats a proper diet anymore?

You can get plain multivitamins from Costco for about $15 for 500, which is really cheap insurance. I also take a calcium supplement since I'm getting older and would like to keep my spine, thank you. And since I'm outside a lot I take a Lutein/Zeaxanthin capsule, which helps protect the eyes from the effects of UV radiation.

I've tried taking mega-B vitamin pills, but the only noticeable effect was that it turned my urine a searingly bright yellow color.

Fiber. Lots of fiber.

Benefiber is a great addition to your diet. You can add it to most non-carbonated drinks, or to soft foods like oatmeal or yogurt. It's colorless, flavorless, sugar-free, sodium-free, gluten-free and 100% natural. Two teaspoons give you 3 grams or 12%DV of fiber.

All three forms of plague, bubonic, pneumonic, and septicemic, are caused by the same bacteria, Yersinia pestis. Without treatment, bubonic plague has a 50% fatality rate; pneumonic and septicemic plague are nearly 100% fatal without treatment, however all three forms respond very well to treatment with common antibiotics such as streptomycin, doxycycline, or ciprofloxacin. Bubonic and septicemic plague are usually transmitted from the bite of an infected flea while pneumonic plague is usually the result of airborne transmission, which can be easily prevented with surgical masks.

It ran great. You just couldn't stop. Because the brakes were completely gone. And parts of the suspension were just hanging off. And the exhaust had a massive hole in it. And the gas tank was literally being held on with baling wire. And the tank leaked like a sieve. And the spare tire holder snapped and dropped the tire somewhere. Not that you could remove the wheels if one ever went flat because the lugs were rusted solid. And the frame had holes in it.

But it ran great!

A quick but tasty meal is rice with good quality tuna (I use Portofino solid yellowfin tuna in olive oil, $9 for 8 cans at Costco), sesame seeds, low sodium soy sauce (I like the taste better than regular) and sriracha. The rice takes about 20 minutes in a pressure cooker, prep takes about 5 minutes.

I've also made rice with diced Spam and creamy hatch and garlic hot sauce. It's actually really good.

I actually prefer my Ford Expedition over a pickup. With the seats down it has about the same cargo capacity as a long-bed F-150 with a shell (I can carry 12 hay bales in my Expedition, my old long-bed pickup could carry 14 with the shell, most pickups these days have short beds and carry much less), but then I can put the seats up and carry 8 passengers. Or a combination of passengers and cargo. It's actually more convenient than a pickup for some cargo because I can open the side doors to aid loading.

https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/peace/2009/press-release/

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obamas vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.

Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obamas initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.

Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the worlds attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the worlds population.

For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the worlds leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obamas appeal that Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges.
