Not really.

In the UK for example, Police often only respond to about 50% of domestic abuse calls.

But when there was a terrorist attack they were on the scene and arrested the perp inside 5 minutes

There's no data that suggests systematic racism in police... please point me to the rules or laws that are forcing this "systematic racism". I'm very interested to see this. Im not ignoring it, I'd like to know what it is without simpletons like yourself giving me only anecdotal evidence.

What are you talking about? Even the police aren't denying that it exists.

FBI telling MLK to commit suicide:

https://www.vox.com/xpress/2014/11/12/7204453/martin-luther-king-fbi-letter

Richard Nixon admitting the War on Drugs was created as a way to arrest black people:

https://www.vox.com/2016/3/22/11278760/war-on-drugs-racism-nixon

That war still exists and same is true today:

38% of state prisoners are black (35% are white)

https://www.sentencingproject.org/publications/color-of-justice-racial-and-ethnic-disparity-in-state-prisons/

In New York Under age 25 Black and Latino people are only 5% of the population, yet they made 38% of stop and frisks. Of any age group, black and Lantinos made up 88% of stops. Something police are only meant to do if they suspected the guys had a weapon yet 98% of the time they did not and 90% of the time they were totally innocent of any crime whatsoever and carrying nothing.

Meanwhile white and Asian people were far far more likely to be carrying weapons or ilicit substances because of course they are, they know police are stopping black and hispanic guys so if you're muling drugs you do it via white guys.

https://www.aclu.org/press-releases/nyclu-releases-report-analyzing-nypd-stop-and-frisk-data
https://www.nyclu.org/en/Stop-and-Frisk-data

https://www.statista.com/statistics/585152/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-race/

Additionally, the rate of fatal police shootings among Black Americans was much higher than that for any other ethnicity, standing at 3 per 100,000 of the population as of June 2020.

Meanwhile cops are punished for not arresting enough black guys:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/06/nyregion/nyc-police-subway-racial-profiling.html

Black men are sentenced to 20% longer sentences for the same crimes as whites:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/11/16/black-men-sentenced-to-more-time-for-committing-the-exact-same-crime-as-a-white-person-study-finds/

And they are 80% more likely to go prison for a crime than a white guy.

https://www.sentencingproject.org/publications/un-report-on-racial-disparities/

Prisons which then threaten and punish the state/government to give them prisoners so they can make profit. So there is a system of Cops rack up arrests = good for cops and politicians stats, prosecutors rack up convictions = good for their career record, private prisons fill up = they make money.

Businsess not justice.

https://www.salon.com/2017/08/04/private-prison-demands-new-mexico-and-feds-find-300-more-prisoners-in-60-days-or-it-will-close_partner/

Cops are fired for stopping other cops from murdering handcuffed black guys:

https://www.nbcboston.com/lx/a-former-buffalo-cop-fired-after-stopping-a-chokehold-is-fighting-for-police-accountability/2149556/

Cops not being hired for being too intelligent:

https://www.globalresearch.ca/us-court-ruled-you-can-be-too-smart-to-be-a-cop/5420630

And on top of that, ignoring race entirely and just focusing on police Brutality. Let's look at overall killing of Citizens by police force per Capita

As a baseline, in the US, cops kill 46.6 per 10 million. How do the countries with similar numbers compare?

Democratic Republic of the Congo: 47.8
Iraq: 45.1
Nigeria: 44.0
Kenya: 43.5

Well that's weird, those aren't typically the countries you see associated with America. Let's check in on Europe

Germany: 1.3 (2018)
France: 3.8 (2018)
U.K.: 0.5 (2018)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_killings_by_law_enforcement_officers_by_country

Almost 100 times the rate of the UK... That's insane.

And these are all just the tip of the iceberg. This kind of stuff is well known and all over the place. It's been reported and discussed and debated for decades. I refuse to believe that you in good faith are simutaniously claiming that you've never heard any of this before AND also saying you reject all anecdotal evidence.

What possible evidence is there that would convince you?

That's called burying your head in the sand.

I do agree the story should be huge for what it is, but that's not what's happening and you know it.
If not for race, this wouldn't be a national headline.

If you say so

In light of the recent protests and examination of police brutality, I think cops murdering civilians would be big news right now regardless of race. See that old man they threw to the ground. He was white and huge news.

You might be right that in a vacuum outside of the recent protests, people may have ignored the story and just said incredibly stupid things like "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" to a murder victim, but that's a bad thing. Not something you should be praising.

Cut the nonsensical bs claiming im criticizing myself, what a joke.

You really are. You're arguing the story should be huge at the same time you're complaining that the story has traction and denying it was murder just because the victim is the wrong skin.

Your gotcha is completely misplaced.

The blue flu struck 171 Atlanta cops in the days after criminal charges were brought against two white officers in the fatal shooting of a black man, Rayshard Brooks, according to a report.

WSB-TV found that the biggest sickout was June 19 when 90 officers called out sick. Half of those officers were assigned to the downtown area where most of the protests after the Brooks shooting were taking place.

The citys response, I recall early on, seems like they downplayed those numbers. The public should know thats a significant amount of police officers who did not come to work during that time period, retired Atlanta police Detective Vince Velasquez told the station in a report Thursday.

WSB found 171 officers called out sick between June 17- 20 after obtaining 52 pages of attendance records from the Atlanta Police Department.

The 27-year-old Brooks was fatally shot in the back by Officer Garrett Rolfe, 27, after Brooks fired a Taser in the officers direction. He had been running away after a struggle with Rolfe and another officer outside a Wendys fast-food restaurant on June 12.

The shooting happened against the backdrop of nationwide protests over the May 25 death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis and prompted the resignation of Atlanta's top cop Erika Shields.

The sickout began soon after Rolfe and officer Devin Brosnan were arrested June 17 after an investigation by Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard into the shooting.

Rolfe is facing multiple charges including felony murder. Brosnan, 26, is facing an aggravated assault charge. Howard said Brosnan stood on Brooks shoulder as he struggled for his life. Brosnan is out on bail, while Rolfe was locked up without bail.

Lawyers for both men have said their clients actions were justified.

Velasquez told the station that the large sickout was not something he had seen in his career.

Some officers have flatly told me that theyre afraid to go to work and to answer a call and commit to a process and feel like theyre doing the right thing, feel like theyre doing their jobs, and then face not just disciplinary action, but prosecution, Velasquez said.

This is a unique case because some of the charges that were brought up with these officers were policy violations that were turned into oath-of-office crimes that were alleged by the DA, and some of these things are completely foreign to all of us, he said.

Interim Chief Rodney Bryant assured the department had sufficient staff to protect the city during the sickout.

The difference between right and wrong is far from clear atm, especially when people are only looking at races.

That case in Atlanta it's the perfect example.

Drunk, behind the wheel of a running vehicle, passed out in a wendy's parking lot, cops investigate and attempt to arrest... resists arrest, steals a cop's taser in the scrum, tries to use the taser on the cops, gets shot in the back.

Instead of this having the standard "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" response... it's been made into a race issue. Even though there's 0 indication either cop has ever been racist, it's automatically a race thing because skin color is literally the only thing people are seeing right now.

This is such a bad take that it would be funny if a man hadn't died

They shot a gun in the back twice, and the cop who did it admitted he was in no danger

its indefensible murder

plus Rolfe the officer who did it has a history, he shot another suspect in the leg years before and then didnt write up that he shot him in the police report

he's an absolutely incompetent, dangerous murderer . Even if not premeditated he needs to be in prison, not on the force

A former Atlanta police officer facing murder charges in connection with the death of Rayshard Brooks outside a Wendys restaurant waived his first court appearance Friday, according to reports.

Defense lawyers for former Officer Garrett Rolfe also opted not to attend the court session, FOX 5 of Atlanta reported.

Rolfes hearing had been scheduled for noon at the Fulton County jail, the station reported. He faces 11 charges in connection with Brooks death on June 12, including felony murder and assault with a deadly weapon, the report said.

Rolfe was sent to the Gwinnett County Adult Detention Center, pending further legal action.

Meanwhile, Rolfe was previously involved in a 2015 shooting incident that left a man with a punctured lung, court documents show, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Rolfe and other officers were finally cleared of wrongdoing in that case in February, five years after that shooting occurred, the newspaper reported.

The 2015 case was unusual because the police gunfire that occurred was never mentioned in the original incident report or in documents presented to the victims court-appointed attorney
, the Journal-Constitution reported.

Ive never seen anything like it, retired Fulton County Superior Court Judge Doris Downs told the newspapr Friday. "It was the first time I'd ever come across a case where the incident report doesn't even mention the fact that shots were fired."

Ive never seen anything like it. It was the first time Id ever come across a case where the incident report doesnt even mention the fact that shots were fired.
Doris Downs, retired Fulton County Superior Court judge

The judge said she immediately suspected a cover-up and alerted state investigators.

The attorney for the wounded man in the 2015 case claimed that three of the five shots fired in the incident were from Rolfes weapon, the newspaper reported. In the Brooks case, the 27-year-old former officer could face life in prison or even the death penalty if convicted.

An autopsy revealed Brooks was shot twice in his back, and authorities have said the bullets were from Rolfes weapon.

A nearby vehicle with people inside also was struck during the confrontation with Brooks but none of those people were injured.

Police had been called to the Wendys restaurant on a report that a man was sleeping in a vehicle parked in the restaurants drive-thru area. When Rolfe and another officer arrived, they questioned Brooks and then got involved in a struggle, during which Brooks was seen on video accessing an officers stun gun.

Brooks then tried to flee but was shot while running away.

A second Atlanta police officer, Devin Brosnan, faces charges of aggravated assault and violation of oath of office in connection with the case. Brosnan posted bail and awaits further court action.

Both Rolfe and Brosnan turned themselves in Thursday after nearly a week of public outcry that they face charges.

But the defendants also have supporters: The Georgia Law Enforcement Organization has raised about $250,000 for their defense, FOX 5 reported.

"Just because you have one black friend or a black wife, you can still be racist," she said to one of the white cops. "It has nothing to do with your acquaintances."

When the woman said the police were "intimidated" by her, a black cop said: "Its not intimidating. Youre trying to have a conversation, and you have a one-track mind? Theres no point. You have to be able to go in with both sides of the story."

"I wasnt talking to you, sir. I was talking to the white dude," she told him.

"Oh, cause I cant be racist, right?" the black cop quipped.

"Systemically, no, sir," the white woman said. "Systemically, racism can only be white."

"Let me tell you something," the cop said. "America has a sin problem. The world has a sin problem, maam. Okay? Jesus said: I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Officials in Buffalo, New York, have called for an investigation into the firing of a black police officer who intervened after a white colleague placed a suspect in a chokehold.

This case goes back to November 2006, when former Buffalo police officer Cariol Horne witnessed a white colleague choking a handcuffed black man.

Horne has stated she told the officer to stop, pulling his arm away. Her colleague went on to accuse her of jumping on him while he was struggling for control. The incident was not filmed, and although other officers had been present, they did not back Horne during an independent arbitration.

You can hear more about Hornes story here:

Horne was fired two years later, with the Buffalo Police Department claiming she had put her fellow police officers at risk, NBC News reports.

A police veteran of 19 years, Horne was just one year away from the 20 years required to receive her pension. However, after she was fired for intervening, she no longer qualified.

Following her dismissal, Horne went on to become an activist, speaking out about the issue of police brutality. She has attempted to pass legislation in New York that would offer protection for officers who try to stop acts of excessive force by other officers.

Ten years after Horne was fired, the white officer who choked the suspect, Gregory Kwiatkowski, served a four-month prison sentence for using excessive force against four black teenagers.
Cariol Holloman-Horne/Facebook

This week, the Buffalo Common Council the legislative branch of the citys government submitted a resolution to the New York Attorney Generals Office to take another look at Caroles case.

Now with so much attention being on the present and what some officers have done negatively, it is very difficult for some people to move forward if we have not repaired the past.

In its resolution, the council said: There is a responsibility to propose special protections for individual police officers who intervene to protect citizens from excessive use of force situations involving their other officers.

The council has called upon the Buffalo mayors administration to improve how the police departments duty to intervene policy is enforced. This policy calls for officers to protect citizens from excessive use of force.

I dont want any officer to go through what I have gone through. I had five children and I lost everything but [the suspect] did not lose his life. So, if I have nothing else to live for in life, at least I can know that I did the right thing and that [he] still breathes.

One of the most famous objects in the world, the Rosetta Stone, is to have its little-known gay history explored on public tours for the first time by the British Museum.

The stone is known for its crucial role in giving the scholars Jean-Franois Champollion and Thomas Young the key to decipher ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. It has been in the museum collection since 1802 and is regularly named as the number one object people want to see.

But the museum argues another character deserves his place in the story too: William John Bankes, a charming, adventurous and rich Egyptologist who was forced to flee Britain after he was caught having sex in Green Park with a soldier.

Because of Bankes, the Rosetta Stone is being added to LGBTQ+ themed tours of the British Museum which began last year and have become hugely popular, said Stuart Frost, the museums head of interpretation and volunteers.

The first run of tours was booked out within an hour or two, demand was really high, volunteers enjoy doing them and weve had great feedback from the public, he said.

Frost sees them as a good vehicle for sharing new research with the public. Sometimes it is new stories, sometimes it is highlighting stories which are just not very well known because historically they have been overlooked.

The tours have stemmed from a gay history book written by Richard Parkinson, a former British Museum curator who was in charge of the stone for many years. He argues that every object is potentially queer and that it just takes some scratching of the surface to find connections.

Frost said most people would not know that a gay man was instrumental in making the Rosetta Stone one of the most famous historical objects in the world.

The actual text on the Rosetta Stone is strikingly dry: priests asking for a tax break. But its importance is immeasurable because it says the same thing in three different scripts, which allowed the early scholars to crack the code of hieroglyphics.

Champollion and Young are rightly famous because of it. But the museum says it was Bankes who discussed the possibility that the texts on the stone might all say the same thing, and he correctly supposed that a recurring cartouche represented a royal name. An obelisk collected by Bankes and which stands in the grounds of Kingston Lacy, his lavish Dorset home, was used in deciphering the stone.

Bankes remains a fascinating character. Described by his friend Lord Byron as the father of all mischief, he was forced to flee Britain in 1841 when, in his mid-50s, he was charged with unnatural offences. Because it was the second time he had been caught, execution was a real possibility.

Other new objects on the tours will include an ancient Greek coin depicting the poet Sappho and a Roman lamp showing two women having oral sex, probably representing a male fantasy.

There is also a 1777 medal of the Chevalier dEon, an 18th-century soldier, diplomat and spy who lived alternately as a man and a woman in France and England.

They join busts of the Roman emperor Hadrian and his lover Antinous, a gender-fluid depiction of a Babylonian deity dating from 1800BC, and arguably the museums most famous gay object, the Warren Cup, a Roman drinking vessel showing two scenes of men making love.

The museum is planning for reopening after the government gave the all clear for museums and galleries to open their doors from 4 July. A formal date has yet to be announced but the LGBT+ tours will be among the first tours to restart, said Frost.

Oh bullshit. She texted at 2AM because that's when people start getting back to their rooms during these events and she went to Joe's hotel for him to change clothes for a work-dinner. She was going to wait outside in the hall until Other Joe insisted she come in to sit down.

Something they deny.

In fact they claim Other Joe was in the Taxi too.

Regardless again you're intentionally ignoring the point. She contacted him the moment she got back to the room. She wanted to contact him, so much so she didn't even wait till morning.

Yet you're calling him a predator who probably sexually assaults women for... agreeing?

You're trying to paint this girl as some thirsty ho who was following Joe,

You're projecting. No one apart from you has implied this.

but the truth is everything she did was completely professional.

Wut? In her own version of events before you get into her inconsistencies, lies and Joe's denials, she gets drunk, follows a guy around for hours, lies to him, goes into his hotel room with him and never leaves.

None of that is completely professional. By her own admission before you get into her inconsistencies, lies and Joe's denials she was a drunk nervous girl being awkard and lying.

She was there to work, Joe was there to fuck and then got mad when she didn't put out.

See now you're making assumptions too.

Where is your evidence for this?

Why are you ignoring every single fact and point that people are raising and at the same time just making up assumptions and then believing them?

If Joe was there to fuck, not work, why didn't he contact her? Why did he even invite her to his panel? Why did he have Other Joe hang around them?

None of it adds up. Even before she walked it back.

That is the biggest bullshit and attempt to slut shame that I've read in this thread. She was not "pursuing him." This was a work event where she was meeting with industry contacts.

No one is slut shaming anyone apart from you.

But she called him up at 2AM wanting to hang with him, she went to his hotel room

He wasn't chasing her, she was chasing him. For hours. Well beyond "Networking" You can't call him a predator on that or assume he sexually assaulted other women even before you get into her lies, inconsistencies and his denials.

And again, you're ignoring every single point everyone has raised to go off on random strawman tangents.

You guys understand that no woman owes you an explanation for why she doesn't want to sleep with you? I keep seeing stupid shit like, "she should have said she had a boyfriend." No woman owes you that explanation, especially not in a work environment.

Sure

But to turn around and claim a guy is being a predator and assume he sexually assaults women because you think he wanted to fuck you after you pursued him and hung around him for hours without any indication that you weren't single and/or not interested is silly.

Even before you get into her repeated lies and inconsistencies and Joe's denial.

Your defense acts like Joe is attacking her, not she is attacking Joe.

There is no counter

She's walked back her accusations and not purusing it anymore

Joe sent a cease a desist and she's not going to fight him.

Everyone should stop throwing that in her face in an attempt to slut shame her. This was at a video game conference where people weren't getting back to their rooms until 2 AM.

I think you're missing the relevance.

People aren't saying "She was keeping him awake!"

They're pointing out

1. She was eager and wanted to contact him. He didn't spare her a second thought.

2. She didn't wait til morning to contact him

Also says it all that you ignored everything else I said.

LightHawKnight posted...

Not against Joe, still waiting for more evidence, but didn't Joe also say she checked her purse to get in the dinner event? Or did I misread/hear?

No he denied ever touching her purse or phone.

He also denied claiming he lost his and getting her number. And denied inviting her into the shower.

Heavy_D_Forever posted...

Why would I take her word? Her recollection of events has been extremely inconsistent.

Yeah it's hard to take her at her word when

1. She keeps changing her word

2. She keeps lying

3. She keeps making assumptions and then uses those assumptions to make horrible claims

OK, everyone understands she was there in a professional capacity, right? This wasn't a date. They were supposed to be networking with other people in the industry. This is like getting drunk at a corporate launch party, grabbing an intern's ass, and saying "what? how are men supposed to get girlfriends?"

It's not like that at all.

Joe didn't grab her ass.

She contacted him (at 2AM no less) and the only instance of him touching her in the story she was a claim she has since walked back on. She claimed he threw her into a wall then later said he never assaulted her.

Its more like the Intern (who is drunk) asked you to come with her to a launch party. You went with her, then she claimed you grabbed her ass and stole her phone when you never did.

Except there's zero proof that any of that stuff happened.

Not only that, it sounds like there is proof it didn't.

Joe mentioned that she frequently took photos during the entire event + dinner + after party thing and uploaded them onto twitter throughout the night.

He said this in a statement that was cleared by lawyers first after sending a cease and desist

So she was lying when she said she was denied access to her phone. She had access to her phone and no one stopped her from using it.

What you didn't know was that this man was the son of the KFC's CEO. Who as a thank you offers you free KFC for life.

You can eat 3 KFC meals a day without paying. It has to be one of their combos, not sharing buckets and you cannot get/give free food to friends/family/homeless. They have to pay their own way. It's only you who can eat for free.

Instead we should try to improve it. Not pretend it will stop existing when it never will

Guys jerking off to women and then scorning them for doing porn or being prositutes is so fucking stupid
