After the intial confusion you are horrified to discover all of the things you believe in lost support and all the things you hate exploded in popularity. So for example if you're a liberal suddenly there was a surge in popular support for closed boarders, religion in government, privatized everything, police state, lack of privacy protections, gigantic tax cuts for the wealthy, mass deportations, censoring of hot girls in video games, restrictions on pornography websites, gay marriage bans, anti trans sentiments, strong racial nationalism, enormous armies. People flat out lie about blatant scientific truths and no one cares. The Senate, Congress, White House, Kremlin and UN are all filled by right wing fuddy duddies. Or if you're more conseratively minded suddenly there is open boarders, big government, most enterprise/business/healthcare/transport is all nationalized. Taxes are immensely high, there is a universial income for all citizens, speech is heavily censored, There are more gay pride parades and abortion clinics than churches, people march around burning flags and using them to light their joints since drugs are legalized. Most of the Middle East nations have become new American states. The Senate, Congress, White House, Kremlin and UN are all filled by an incredibly diverse crowd of left wing SJWs from ages 15-89 with wacky haircuts who argue about what is offensive all day. etc etc These are very broad general sterotypes obviously but you get the rough idea. It would be whatever you personally would consider the polar opposite of your political/social views (within reason). Every person/idea you liked died or felt out of fashion, every person/idea you hate blossomed into becoming accepted nationally. But then you look into it and are even more shocked to discover that everything worked out great. Unemployment is near non-existant other than by choice. There is no (major) conflict, obesity rates are the lowest they've been in centuries, women are more attractive, crime is down, Half-Life 3 was released, people are reporting their level of happiness at a higher rates than ever recorded, there is a booming global trade market with a constant surplus. Hearing babies laugh is much more common than hearing them cry, life expectancy is up 24 years.
