I've never been helped by the police. In fact, there was one time I called a non-emergency line to report something unusual that I saw and they made me feel like the bad guy for calling.

Specifically, I was at an intersection and saw a car going the other way. The guy in the passenger side had his hands tied up and duct tape over his mouth and he was banging on the window at me. They were teenage guys so I thought it was likely this was some weird prank thing, but still thought I should let someone know. I told them the make/model and the direction was going, and they basically were treating me suspiciously for calling in to tell them this. It was one of the weirdest experiences ever. They wanted my name, phone number, address and all kinds of identifying information. Asked me why I didn't have the license plate and what I expected them to do about it.

My MIL has always been pro Trump, which is weird to me because her grandmother came over illegally on a boat from Cuba. But whatever.

She more or less shares any pro Trump anti Democrat image she can find. Today she was posting about Trump Administration asking the Supreme Court to allow adoption agencies to deny LGBT couples the right to adopt.

...and me and my husband adopted our son. Her grandson.

I know she loves him. And I couldn't resist, I pointed out that if Trump got his way here, we couldn't have Jacob. She wouldn't have her grandson. And her response was the basic right wing 'wah wah I can't have an opinion' while ignoring everything I was saying.

It breaks my heart.

...and it will probably break her heart when Jacob is old enough if he doesn't want to spend time with those grandparents.
