As a Lyft driver who stopped driving back in March when this got bad....

Lyft has had this rule for weeks and has been sending me emails and text messages explaining the policy. They say I have every right to cancel a ride with no penalty if the passenger refuses to wear a mask. They also recommend stuff like having the passenger sit in the farthest away away from the driver (rear passenger side) and keeping windows open to increase air flow.

I'm fairly high risk so there is no way I'm going back to having random people in a car with me. I've started doing GrubHub and I feel way safer doing that. Some restaurants and apartment buildings are a bit sketchy, bit those seem a lot less risky than having many different people in a car with me.

I claimed I've been following the parks for well over a decade and can speak to precedence and the type of thinking that tends to go into their decision making. I never said it will never happen. I highlighted all the reasons why it probably won't happen.

This announcement is very much against all odds. Internet circles surrounding the parks are very shocked by this news. Go ahead and look up any basic theme park forum and this is too news everywhere.

You aren't even attempting to have anything close to a good faith conversation.

I spent a lot of time correcting bad information you provided in the last topic. I've made it very clear that I understand the history of the theme parks much better than you. Theme parks clearly aren't a big part of your life like they are mine which is totally fine. Just don't act like you have any real knowledge to co tribute here.

Disney did a mistake on tethering its ride to song of the south. Not only because its song of the south (issue # 1) but because it tethered it to a movie to begin with.

disneyland attractions age best when theyre generic. Its space mountain, not John Carters ride. It was alien encounter, not stitchs teleport adventure (then that changed and look how well that worked). Its the Matterhorn, not Olafs flying leaf adventure. Its the haunted house, not the hocus pocus adventure.

they should make it a generic ride that can stand the test of time.

Unfortunately Disney has shown no interest in creating attractions that aren't based on a well established IP. Just another symptoms of the times.

It was never said that Disney is too broke. I explained the economics of the situation and that Disney has lots of precedent for their behavior. You have no understanding of what has been said and are clearly just butt mad.

In all honesty though, it's for the best. I'm curious how they'll pull it off, since most of the stuff is built into the structure of the ride itself, but it'll be worth it. It was always a questionable decision to theme a ride after a movie which people don't have access to. I know it was meant to reuse animatronics from America Sings, but it could've been its own original property like America Sings was.

The important part is that now little Black girls can go to Disney World and feel like a princess. Some of you will roll your eyes at that statement, but it can mean a lot to an impressionable child to see herself (or himself) reflected in a positive light.

I'm super for a princess and the frog ride, but not for retheming Splash mountain. I'm just generally against retheming a ride. It seems to only work half the time. It seems much better to design a ride from the ground up than retrofit an existing ride.

My daily life has been heavily impacted and I can't be the only one so I have a hard time imagining anyone not thinking about it a lot.

I just spent around $700 on a home fitness setup and will be spending more over the next few months. I'm finally making the big leap to home fitness due to covid. My fitness and general health has been severely impacted by not being able to work out in a gym and I can't imagine being comfortable enough to do that for another year. Working out with a mask on sounds like one of the least pleasant things to do with a mask on. I get extremely sweaty and have asthma so I can't imagine that working great for me.

This is just one aspect in which I'm trying to make my home more of a happy safe place that I don't have to leave. Staying away from people is more of a lifestyle now.
