I thought I'd go ahead and support them so I got a subscription, but anime is unwatchable on their videoplayer. They don't have a fast enough download rate or whatever to stream even at 720p. I can do that fine on Amazon Prime or YouTube. Thing is, I can't let it sit and preload either, because it apparently has a maximum amount it can do that for! What the fuck? This is the most it ever gets.

Shadow of Chernobyl, the first game, is great (with a mandatory stabilizing fan patch). The atmosphere created when is unforgettable, waking up in a harsh storm in a rotting village, watching out into the hills as lightning flashes and illuminates the bodies of snarling mutated dogs, while in the distance the siren of the ineffective Russian soldiers blares, begging people not to enter the Zone. Game is perfect length to feel out exploration, its odd anomaly mechanics and creatures without getting repetitive.

Didn't play Clear Skies. Couldn't get into Call of Pripyat, it didnt have the same magic for me. But also it ran my GPU hotter than some modern AAA games. It competes with Deus Ex Mankind Divided, jeez. Didnt use that patch though I dont think

Strategies (all kinds of little tricks from forks to Triangulation),

Openings (for when you're tired of defending the Ruy Lopez or Queens Gambit Declined yet again)

"Brilliances" (a collection of a dozen or so influential Grandmaster games that Yasser annotates move by move to get the reader in the head of great players)

Are you USCF rated? If you're not 'really good' I suggest putting off Opening Theory beyond a basic overview like Winning Chess Openings, firstly because who wants to memorize moves, and secondly because it can work as a crutch at that level (I played 1.c4 a lot in K-12 chess, and knowing it well gave me a big advantage against kids who were uncomfortable with flank pawns and fianchettos and stuff)

I think I owned Teaches Chess at one point but IIRC it's mostly tactics recognition? The most valuable information in that book is possibly that he counts Bishops as 3 points and Knights as 2.5, which is not position universal, but shows that Bishops' value inflates in the endgame.
