there is no "radical left" in this country. we don't have revolutionary or even incremental socialists, communists of either the right or left variety, left anarchists, etc anywhere in politics at the federal or state level (can't speak with any certainty about municipalities since there's too many to count, but I'm pretty sure that's a wash too). no, Bernie Sanders and AOC don't count, they're basically somewhere between the UK libdems and Labour

if anything the US leans heavily right and socially conservative, especially with the way we back super hard right regimes in our foreign policy

Cable/Internet is the fastest cost saving measure you can make. Drop the cable. That'll save you $50-60 a month.

You probably need to keep the internet for job hunting, but if you have a good nearby library you can use them for internet and other things.

I can get on board with this too. What sort of data plans do you have for your phone(s)? It might be cheaper to use them as a hotspot when necessary.

Cutting out or at least tapering cigarettes and kratom will help. That's not a judgement, since I'm a recovering addict and understand those vices help. HUD is super backed up, but you'll never qualify if you don't apply, so do it anyway but expect rejection or a long waiting period. Food banks aren't really something you apply for unless it's government subsidized, there tend to be all sorts of charity drives through churches and stuff like that. Even if you disdain religion, churches do a lot of that stuff since public assistance in this country (and PA especially) is junk.

I can't recommend Uber, especially if you'll use it to finance a car. The maintenance and gas will kill you. It simply doesn't pay enough and the requirements on the vehicles you use are strict, plus their "insurance" sucks (used to be at a body shop, we hated doing Uber jobs).

Plus, this is way too much "i heard, from a guy, who knew a guy, who knew a girl, who know a man, that Trump said this".

the current guy testifying is in the room while all this is said. its not heresay

y'all need to get your head out the sand

well it would be hearsay if it took place in an actual trial and the other parties weren't present, this is just a deposition so there are different rules. congressional inquiries are also different in terms of rules of procedure and what's admissible iirc

This isn't even the trial. The trial happens in the Senate after the House votes to impeach.

Yeah, I guess the closest comparison to the US judicial system would be discovery? Idk

by "butchered the source material" you mean improved it immensely, right?

Eh, I love me some Philip K. Dick, both are good in their own ways but there's no denying that the movie deviated significantly, so I mean butchered in the more literal sense. I like both cows and steak, but there's definitely a butchering in between lol

BTW, it finally clicked that when he freaks out at Rekall, it's because they undid his "memory cap" and he snapped back into his original identity as Hauser, which explains his whole "I'm not Quaid... you blew my cover!" moment

I got the rest of the movie and the themes just fine, but that little bit slipped by me until now. I guess they were closer to the PKD style of story than I thought lol

The system is fucking against you if you're single without kids. I remember applying back when I was making like $7.40 an hour at Wendy's and they told me I make too much money. Get the fuck outta here. Food ain't cheap and us foreveralones gotta eat too goddammit.

Yeah, they're ultra strict.

I was by myself and unemployed and they gave me $200 a month, plus I had to go to this program called the Back 2 Work program where they help you find a job. Also, if you don't have a job after a month, they farm you out to work for your food stamps. A lot of the random janitors you see in NYC subways and in the parks are dudes on food stamps.

Anyway, I got a job within a month making $10 an hour. THE NEXT DAY they cut my stamps off, saying I made too much. They didn't even let me make it to my first paycheck. I was on food stamps maybe 3-4 times between jobs, and this happened each and every time. If you're single with no kids, you're not allowed to make any money and keep those things.

I came out of rehab in Maryland unemployed and got the full $200/mo. As soon as I got a part time job making $8/hr, I got a letter in the mail from the state literally congratulating me on gaining employment, and announcing that my benefits had been cut to $12/mo.

He seems to be able to figure out subnetting on his own, but he clearly doesn't know when to use a private subnet vs when to use a public one... Nor does he know why, even from a routing perspective, why you shouldn't just use some random public subnet locally...

He's gonna crash and burn quick if I leave and they have him try to run the network on his own

Ah, gotcha. That's actually... more frightening, because it means he knows enough to be dangerous, without constant supervision. Yikes.

RdVEHfJqAvUPIbk posted...
You're blaming yourself on this.
You didn't get to interview him so you have zero responsibility here.
A resume can easily be filled with lies. It's why interviews are set up to make sure the person has the right skills. You're clearly the only person there who could have judged that and you didn't get to. So fuck 'em.

I don't usually agree with Brutal, but he's on the nose on this one. You didn't interview him, you just glanced at his resume and gave your opinion based on that. Resumes are pieces of paper, nothing more.

If someone raises a stink, tell them you want to partake in the interview, even if you were to be a second interview step to test their knowledge. Leverage your position, dude. Let them know, professionally, that you would like input on the candidates for positions contracted out, even if just as an observor.
