Gonna start reading it now, what's wrong with it? This is the first time I'm hearing about this.
They would not be eating. They would not look at any screens. They would not listen to music. They would not exercise. They would not touch other bodies for any reason, especially not for sex. No work. No eye contact. No talking more than absolutely necessary. A photographer could take their picture, but there could be no flash Sounds silly. But at least it they allow reading. --- imgtc.com/i/4HgTl0ebzq.jpg imgtc.com/i/60CWP2Gtlg.gif ... Copied to Clipboard!

Okay, but tell us why it's wrong. Dopamine is a fundamental neurotransmitter, it doesn't just signal pleasure, in fact it likely doesn't signal pleasure at all! It's involved in learning, motivation, flexible behavior, etc. The dopaminergic system is very complicated, and removing "stimulating" things from your life isn't targeting it. --- =E[(x-E[x])(y-E[y])] ... It's also not exactly what they are claiming:
Were addicted to dopamine, said James Sinka, who of the three fellows is the most exuberant about their new practice. And because were getting so much of it all the time, we end up just wanting more and more, so activities that used to be pleasurable now arent. Frequent stimulation of dopamine gets the brains baseline higher. --- =E[(x-E[x])(y-E[y])] ... Copied to Clipboard!

Seeing all they don't do, I assume they don't read either, and just basically sit there doing nothing all day. Throughout that day of their dopamine fast, they wandered slowly from room to room. They read. They put on more and more sweaters. The food fasting makes them cold. They went on walks, though these are tricky because they have to avoid needing to ask for anything like water or bathrooms. They're not total waste of spaces. --- imgtc.com/i/4HgTl0ebzq.jpg imgtc.com/i/60CWP2Gtlg.gif ... Copied to Clipboard!

I'm not a scientist, but it seems to me like any kind of result achieved from "dopamine fasting," including the no-fap-november situation, is just a placebo. You think you're going to be more driven and motivated, so you are.
