Could not tell you. Makes no sense to me. An agent makes way more too. He, under orders, is doing moves just to make headlines. It's all ego-driven. And yes, its definitely partly to fuck the Yankees over. This is part of the huge list of reasons why the Wilpons need to be fucking forced out. Nothing they do is in any best interest of the team. It's all either in their own, making the back page, or to spite the Yankees.

It doesn't matter what prospects the Mets sent over, unless it was literally nothing. This sucks for the Mets not because of what they gave up but it makes literally no sense for them.

By my count as of right now, they still need to overhaul the bullpen, do something to fix the IF defense, add a CF, 1 SP, and SP Depth... almost all things they really needed to do headed into 19 and didn't. Now they have those same issues and everyone else has higher contracts.

So if they didnt do those things in 2019, why would they do them now? when the salary starts at a higher number?

Like, if Stroman had a 1.00 ERA next year and had the best season any pitcher has had in the last 100 years, it wouldn't change anything. The Mets still wouldn't be a playoff contender next year. Because they still need to address all the things I said above, and that's going to cost a fuckton, and they have never done that before. They could've done the same things last year WITHOUT spending a fuckton, and they didn't. Now it's too late

Mets are about to acquire Stroman from the Jays for prospects lol. This is going to be bad for them, because this is clearly a precursor to them trading away Syndergaard (or some other good player/large contract) in order to clear room to add players next year.

They literally cannot add players next year without spending like $50-60M more than they did last year.

Mets are gonna be forced to trade Syndergaard because they have literally no room to add to payroll for next year (re: Wilpon Budget Constraints) unless they ship out players beyond the expiring FAs (Wheeler, Vargas, Frazier). The payroll is at a base like $30M higher without them signing a single FA. They weren't willing to add payroll this year, so why would they next year, when the base is higher? And they are going to need 2, maybe 3 SPs.

There's no path to Mets contention in 2020 without spending a lot. They really dug their own fucking hole between the utter cheapness and stupidity of the Cano trade.

This is why you've been hearing they're so eager to move him. It's b/c they know the $ amount they have to spend next year if they keep him and it's super low. So it fucking sucks because any other fucking team wouldn't have fucked up this badly , but their refusal to spend forced this. Fuck the wilpons. They better get a goddamn haul for the guy if they ship him out.

The organization COMPLETELY misevaluated Alonso and McNeil, and thats why they added Cano and Lowrie. And thats why they're in a huge fucking whole for eternity. If they had only called up Alonso and McNeil last June when it made sense to call them up so you know what you got for next year, then you're not in this scenario and you know you dont have to add additional infield help. But the owners are so fucking cheap they didn't want to lose the year of service time that they FUCKING LOST ANYWAY by calling them up McNeil in august and alonso in Opening Day 2019 respectively, so it's literally just fucking stupidity.

Like there is no way to run a team worse with a combination of stupidity, cheapness, and stupidity in being so cheap that they can't see by spending a few bucks now they can save millions in the long run.

It drives me so fucking crazy how fucking simple this is and how they can't fucking understand any of this. Monkeys could literally do a better job.

it doesnt cost anything to call them up in June of last year when you're gonna call them up in August/April anyway, and then you see them excel, and you dont have to waste 40M a year on Cano and Lowrie and whoever, and you can put that towards the parts your team ACTUALLY needs, like bullpen and depth pitching

The worst part of everything is the Mets are fucked and have no path to contention the next 3 years because of all the backloaded contracts they have. LIke what's the fucking point of backloading all your contracts if , when you're in the light portion of thecontract, you're not going to fucking spend to try to build a winning team? And also taking on Cano's hole contract for no reason on top of it? It's like the fucking team is run by monkeys. Backloading everything + trading for Cano is going to fuck them for a long time. There is no room to add any $ next year, because payroll is going ot be way higher before they even add any FAs, and barely any is coming off the books.

They refused to spend any additional money this year and didn't increase payroll at all in a "light-loaded" contract year, so why would they next year when everyone's salary goes way up?

This is so fucking unacceptable when your team has had 2 winning seasons in 11 years.

This is with them having a JD Martinez (alonso) and Jose Altuve (Jeff McNeil) for essentially 'free' mind you. They have that and it's so sad they have no absolutely no path to contention, no chance of success at all over the next 2-3 years because of how fucking incompetently they made these current contracts, the trade for Cano, and their refusal to add $ to the team when they were NOT all backloaded contracts at one time.

Mind you they are going to need to add TWO starting pitchers and a shit ton of relievers. How are they going to do this? They can't. and as such they won't be contenders for a long time. At least 3 more years of failure. When they've had TWO in the last 11. Fuck the wilpons.

He's thrown the 6th most pitches in baseball, for a guy who has far from a slate of clean arm health. He averages 104 pitches per start, which is 4th in MLB.

Awfully convenient timing considering he was the only real trade chip they had worth trading. This kind of sounds like the Wilpons faked an injury on purpose for him because they knew healthy they were gonna get a mostly cash/bad prospect return so now if they do wind up trading him they can justify that behavior. I'm like 99% sure this is their line of thinking, without even caring that an injury hurts his trade value and the value they'd get back. Could also be because they don't want him to have any more implosions (again, not thinking).

The timing is just too perfect to be anything other than fake. There was no prior indication he had any other injury and he's just going on with fatigue, not a real injury.

Fuck the Wilpons. Sell the team.

On the first game back in Anaheim since Skaggs passed, where his mom threw out the first pitch, and all the Angels were wearing #45 Skaggs jerseys, the Angels threw a (combined) no-hitter. Completely unbelievable.

They all laid down their Skaggs #45 jerseys on the mound after the game as a final good-bye. Heartbreaking.
