I doubt there are many people who really want to spend the back half of Thanksgiving waiting in lines and shopping, but the system is set up means that if these people chose to stay in all Thanksgiving, they are likely losing out on the deals. It effectively compels people who would otherwise like to stay in to go out. If the stores would stop their stupid arms race of "who's store can start Black Friday earliest", the at least Thanksgiving day itself would be okay.

Black Friday itself is a late-stage capitalism hellscape and I pity all people involved, worker and consumer, but I don't think there is a fix to that.

But they aren't missing out on deals. Similar deals can be found throughout the year and even if not, most websites let you shop online Black Friday. And then there's Cyber Monday too.

Half the time, people are buying shit they don't even need on Black Friday in the first place, but because there's a sale on it, for some reason, they feel compelled to buy it.

it's not that alone that was upsetting. it's that Sue wasn't also black. and they hand waved it away by saying "oh she was adopted" but they are blood siblings in the comics. if Sue had also been black and his blood sister, it would have been better

The adoption angle doesn't really change much about Sue and Johnny's relationship though. Especially if Sue was adopted at an early enough age that she has no connection to her biological family.
