I do think there was probably foul play, but I don't see how it's not more likely that it was from someone currently in power like Trump or even the royals. Hell, there's still a chance Epstein himself was able to buy off a guard or something.

This is always one of the weaker arguments against gun legislation. Yeah, of course some maniacs would use knives instead. I'll take my odds against a dude with a knife over a dude with a gun, though.

Same with vans or bombs. How many dudes do you think know how to make a bomb and do so without getting caught? Some, but not nearly as many.

In terms of "the main character deliberately tries to kill the villain in a fight to the death," all I can think of is

1) Simba throws Scar off a cliff into the fire (kind of only coincidental that he survived to then be eaten by hyenas)
2) Mulan blows up Shan Yu
3) Hercules knocks Hades into the swirling soul pool thing

Yeah it's a valid point that Mulan definitely actively kills Shan Yu.

Has a Disney hero ever directly killed a villain by choking them, shooting them, or stabbing them? I think the closest thing is probably shoving them off a ledge

Eric "stabs" Ursula
Mulan "shoots" Shan Yu

Can't think of any choking incidents outside of Clayton which is definitely not intentional by Tarzan.

Also, that said, I wasn't really counting Eric because he's not the main protagonist. If we do include him, then yeah, Prince Phillip also kills Maleficent.

I mean, it makes sense. The majority of these movies preach that "might = right" is the wrong philosophy, and most of the villains are undone by hubris or by the power they wanted to control to teach a better lesson than "don't be a jerk or you'll get beat up by a superhero."

There's not really any Disney movies I can think of where the hero just straight-up murders the bad guy. I guess Hercules yeets Hades pretty hard.

Like classic Disney films, not talking about stuff like The Avengers and all that.

The Lion King has Simba and Scar actually fight, and Beauty and the Beast has a good fight between Beast and Gaston. It seems like most of the others that I can think of more have a dramatic climax that just results in a loss of balance mid-monologue.

It's tough.

S1 has maybe the best episode of the show in Entire History of You, a solid entry in Fifteen Million Merits, and an iconic if absolutely fucked-up premiere in National Anthem, so that's a good choice.

S2 has Be Right Back and White Bear, both of which are also heavy contenders for Best Episode Ever, but also has Waldo which remains possibly the show's dumbest episode which makes it hard to weigh.

S3 has two great eps (Shut Up and Dance + San Junipero), a really good ep imo (Playtest), two ok eps (Nosedive and Men Against Fire), and a dumpster fire (Hated in the Nation), so probably not that one despite some very good entries.

S4 has low-key one of my faves with Hang the DJ, and USS Callister was also fantastic. Black Museum was pretty good. Arkangel was just decent, though, and Crocodile/Metalhead push Hated in the Nation and Waldo for the show's worst material. So, again, probably not that one.

S5 is the weirdest to judge because I don't think any of the three were PHENOMENAL, but also it's the first time since S1 where none of the episodes were hot trash either. Like, all three were "pretty good."

So... I guess all told, weighing the highs and lows, I'll go... season 2? The peaks of White Bear and Be Right Back outweighing the shittiness of Waldo? Idk. Tough between that and S1.

S2 > S1 >> S5 > S3 > S4

However, I'm not factoring in White Christmas or Bandersnatch. If you throw White Christmas into S2 then it's definitely the best easily.

It is profoundly weird to me that suddenly learning from the past or appreciating what went right and what went wrong is "taboo" or "in-fighting." It's not like they went up there and called Obama a bitch.

Obama seems like a good dude and got some stuff done but by and large spent eight years getting punked by McConnell and people were so uninspired that the party's handchosen successor got beaten by a wannabe fascist reality TV star. It's okay to realize that maybe we need to present a more compelling vision.
