Ultimately, as Ive been playing it, it feels like the worst thing I can say is it couldve been more when it comes to the first full console gen

So I get why people who wanted a big leap forward (graphically, in content, or otherwise) are sitting it out. Dont blame em at all. But theyre very solid Pokmon experiences as weve always known them.

It is both disappointing for what it could/should be and yet still a generally fun game.

It rests on its laurels a little too much but if youre hankering for a pokemon game, it does the job. Plus Ive always wanted an open area with Pokemon walking around, even if it could be better.

HK was a shocking entry into maybe my top ten games ever. Its world design, ambiance, lore, and addictive gameplay sucked me in and never let go until Id 100%d the game and beyond, even Nightmare King and the Path of Pain.

I dont wanna encourage this line of thinking because it is SO circumstantial

But just to add to the other side, about five years ago, after some bad dates that didnt compare, I texted an ex who I felt I had unresolved business with that I couldnt consistently get off my mind, and weve been happily married for 2.5 years now.

So, obviously, dont hitch yourself to that mentality, but I cant say shooting your shot is inherently 100% bad every time because, well, best decision of my life. Only you two can know. Could range anywhere from utter disaster to happy marriage, just go in with an open mind and as clear of eyes as you can have.

I'm real torn on getting it

Sounds like most of the more grounded reviews amount to "It's Pokemon, it's fun, there's some nice quality of life stuff, but man there's a lot of weird choices and disappointing aspects that are super baffling"

I haven't played Pokemon in a few gens because I didn't have a 3DS and I'm pretty itchy, plus the whole open world Pokemon wandering around thing is something I've wanted for ages... :/

I would say things like lack of music during the fight with the cover legendary, the draw distances being like 5 feet so everything is just constantly popping up in front of you as you move, and getting a cutscene animation where a character uses their walking animation as they rotate the model to simulate "turning around" as pretty bad.

And yeah, thats exactly it. If insurance just meant you pay this much when something happens, thatd be one thing, but the nature of it is that I have hundreds upon hundreds taken out every month ALREADY, then the first time anything happens, I get dicked down for almost two grand if you count the lead up appointments.

Then these guys lecture better than paying higher taxes! Bitch, even if that were true, my premium is already a tax, and I still get killed on top of it. Absurd.
