Just out of curiosity, what is the second worst Mountain Dew flavor?

This is probably even tougher to answer than the "Link of Dew" question because there have been so many flavors over the years, many of which are now discontinued.

If we limit this question to only the currently available Mountain Dew flavors, I'd say Voo Dew would be the second worst flavor and that's a limited edition flavor which will get discontinued at some point before the end of the year. If we also include discontinued flavors in this question, the second worst flavor would probably be Distortion (one of the DEWmocracy flavors from 2009).

Ngamer64 posted...
@LusterSoldier the people DEMAND to know who is the Link of Dew!

It's really difficult to say what is the Link of Dew. If we consider the individual sales of each flavor, that wouldn't be a very good metric for measuring popularity. The original Dew is almost certainly the highest selling flavor, but it might not be the most popular flavor.

I think the most popular flavor is Voltage. It has the advantage of being widely available and easy to find. Livewire is certainly popular as well, but the flavor can be difficult to find (usually at smaller stores, such as gas station states).

Corviknight was blatantly an evolution, but I didn't expect 2. I thought that it was parallel to Gogoat and Mudsdale.

The big difference with Corviknight is that it's completely unprecedented for the final evolution of the early game bird to be revealed before any of its pre-evos. That hasn't happened in any prior generation. The fact we haven't seen the first stage of the early game bird was a big reason why a lot of people thought Corviknight was a standalone Pokemon or is part of a separate evolutionary line from the early game bird.

We also haven't seen the early game bug yet, and we're less than 2 months away from release.

Yes, I know about Mountain Dew AMP Game Fuel already. I've tried all 4 flavors that currently exist.

Ngamer64 posted...
Also while I have your attention, can I have your review of the two new flavors?

Sweet Lightning (KFC Exclusive)

Liberty Brew (50 Flavors In One to celebrate the 50 States Of Dew Nation)

Sweet Lightning - Garbage flavor. The taste of this flavor is so bad that I would compare it to the taste of beer. I wouldn't even recommend trying this flavor out. In terms of awfulness, this flavor is in a separate tier from all of the other Mountain Dew flavors I've ever tried. If I could assign a contest strength value to Sweet Lightning, even the second worst Mountain Dew flavor would be able to score at least 80% on Sweet Lightning. This flavor is definitely the "Chester" of Mountain Dew flavors.

Liberty Brew - I liked this flavor for sure. It's far from being a top tier flavor, but it's better than Dew S-A for sure. Dew S-A was the 2017 limited edition flavor around the time of 4th of July. At least Liberty Brew is a completely original flavor where as Dew S-A was rather unoriginal due to being a combination of Code Red, Voltage, and White Out.

Bonus review time:

Voo Dew - This is a Halloween themed flavor, the first time that Mountain Dew has done something for Halloween. It's being advertised as a "Mystery Flavor" on the bottle/can and the color of the liquid is identical to White Out. However, it tastes nothing like White Out. I also liked this flavor, but to a lesser degree than Liberty Brew.

You actually can't submit PotD suggestions anymore. There used to be a contributor submission form for this, but Allen removed it back in 2017. The rejection rate on PotD submissions was extremely high when I asked Allen about the PotD submission form, so I guess he took it down as very few PotD submissions ever end up getting selected for future polls.

If it's the rumor that I'm thinking about, then it should be a fake. The rumor predicted a trailer drop on September 16th at 8:00 AM EST (it specifically said 2 PM CEST) and was posted on September 15th. When a rumor incorrectly predicts the exact date and time of the next trailer drop, that instantly debunks the rest of the rumor.

Right now, the Pokemon Youtuber RuffledRowlit is currently talking about this fake rumor in this live stream:

I think Ash will almost certainly win the Alola League because there's no anime exclusive character to stop him from winning. In all of Ash's previous losses in the regional Pokemon Leagues, he always lost to an anime exclusive character. The Alola League was filled entirely with characters that were also in the games.

It seems like once Ash is finished in Alola, the show will NOT follow him to Galar and instead will reboot as a new series featuring elements from all 8 generations; it's not even confirmed if Ash will be in it.

I doubt they would have an anime series without Ash since the anime is used a tool for advertising the video games to the little kids. An anime series that doesn't have at least some focus on Galar would be bad if you want to advertise the latest games.

I could see the next anime series doing something like 10-20 episodes traveling in Galar, then Ash travels to another region for maybe 5-10 episodes, then heads back to Galar again. We could possibly see a series of mini arcs sprinkled throughout the next anime series focused on traveling to a past region to meet up with old companions and rivals, but the anime as a whole would still have Galar as the main focus.

The site alert was only used for the final 4 regular matches of the 2013 contest, but it hasn't been used a single time for any of the later contests. I'd like to see Allen go back to using site alerts to promote the final matches of a contest because that can serve as a possible anti-rally measure.

Probably Zelda because of the LAW, though Brawl almost won last time: http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/drupal/node/22?matchnum=4195&num=2

That's good news. I hope the contest starts in January 2020, shortly after the GotY polls end. I'm also perfectly fine with opening up the nominations before the end of 2019 (sometime around December 15th-20th) because I don't expect any notable games to be released during the final 2 weeks of the year.

Nintendo has said that they will continue to support the game with post-release content updates to add new things to the game. AxemRedRanger posted...
Results might differ very slightly from what Luster would get because of certain assumptions made; see Notes section for details.

I did my own calculations using the new method to revise the average age for every age poll we've had so far. In my calculations, I use the following assumptions for the average age in the Under/Over age groups:

Before 2006:

Under 7 - 6.5
Under 9 - 8
Under 10 - 8.5
Under 13 - 10.5

After 2006:

Under 9 - 9
Under 10 - 9
Under 13 / 12 or under - 11
Over 40 - 45
Over 45 / 46 or older - 51

Unlike AxemRedRanger, I chose to use 45 as the average age for the Over 40 option instead of his choice of 46. This is because the Over 40 option appeared in age polls during a time when the Over 40 age group made up a far smaller percentage of the site than it does right now, so it was not as likely that we had a lot of extreme outliers (people over 60) affecting the average age of the entire Over 40 age group. With Over 45, I had previously used 50 in my older calculations, but I chose to revise this to 51 as this age group is a growing segment of the GameFAQs userbase. In the 2003 age poll, I chose to handle the poll mistake with the 31-35 and 35-40 age groups by assigning average ages of 33.25 and 38.25 respectively, which is nearly identical to how AxemRedRanger handled this.

I treated the Under 9 / 10 option separately depending on when the age poll happened. When the Under 9 option returned as an option beginning with the 2012 age poll, it was receiving a much higher percentage of votes than the Under 9 option had gotten prior to 2006.

Starting with the 2012 age poll, the Under 9 option received the following percentage of votes - 0.82%, 0.87%, 0.75%, 0.82%, 0.87%, 0.64%

This is notably higher than what the Under 9 option got prior to 2006 (0.49%, 0.53%, 0.59%) despite the site's average age being way older after 2006. Joke voting is suggested to be the main reason for Under 9 getting an even higher percentage of votes in the more recent age polls, with possibly more than half of the votes for Under 9 being joke votes coming from people who are much older than 9. Evidence for joke voting is supported by 12 and under getting a lower percentage (0.42%) in the most recent age poll compared to Under 9's average percentage (0.80%) in the age polls from 2012 to 2017. To adjust for the effect of joke votes for Under 9, I set the average age at 9 for that option in the age polls after 2006. To a lesser extent, I think Under 10 may have been affected by joke votes in the age polls from 2007 to 2011.

I wasn't expecting anything major from the opening ceremony anyways. They've never dropped a megaton announcement there in the past. The reveal of a new Eevee (like red13n wanted) wasn't going to happen because that's a reveal of such huge magnitude which would be better off being revealed through an actual trailer or even a Pokemon Direct.

If there's any trend I've noticed with the reveals we've had during the opening ceremony, it's always been information that is relevant to VGC as a whole (Pokken due to it later becoming an official competitive event) or information about things that could shake up the VGC metagame (things like Mega Kangaskhan).

Yeah, I use the average age (once calculated) to then calculate the average date of birth. It works by taking the average age and multiplying that by 365 (days in a year). I don't factor in Leap Year when doing these calculations, but it can certainly be adjusted for. If you wanted to adjust for Leap Year, you'd multiply the average age by 365.25 instead (0.25 because of the extra day every 4 years).

Going off the old method of calculating average age, our latest age poll had an average age of 32.04. Multiplying this by 365 gives you 11694.60, which can be rounded up (or down if the decimal part is less than 0.5). Finally, you take the date of our latest age poll (8/15/2019) and subtract 11695 days from that date. This operation can be performed easily in Microsoft Excel, but it also works in Google Docs as well. The final result of subtracting 11695 days from 8/15/2019 is 8/8/1987.

I might decide to adopt the new method of calculating average age, so this current average date of birth is subject to change later on.

It just occurred to me that I may have been calculating average age completely wrong. With the options that cover a specific age range such as 29-32, I would always use 30.5 as a median value when calculating average age. That may have been the wrong approach here since 29-32 covers a period of 4 years (age 29, 30, 31, and 32), so the correct median age would be 31 for the 29-32 age group. Those who currently 32 would have to vote for 29-32 even if they are just one day away from turning 33 at the time the poll was being ran.

If I were to change the way I calculate average age based on this discovery I made, it would have to be retroactively applied to the average age calculations of the previous age polls. This would also affect average date of birth calculations as well. I'm still unsure if I want to stick with the already established method of calculating average age or go with the newer method, which would actually increase average age by about 0.5.

How much older are we this time Luster?

I'll report this info once today's poll goes final.

Looks like the average date of birth probably crawled backwards another few months or so

It went backwards by about 4 months compared to the previous age poll in 2017.

We finally got an age poll after skipping all of 2018 without getting a single age poll:

Well, the Phillies recently fired their previous hitting coach. A good move since I think their previous hitting coach was causing the team's biggest players to underperform their actual potential. This could hopefully turn their season around and help them get a wild card spot.

I remember Luster saying something one time about having accounts that aren't activated yet. Maybe that's what's up with Aron and Flygon.

I used to have a bunch of accounts in which the username was already reserved for later activation. Those accounts were created prior to the changes made to the registration system back in 2015. There was roughly a 5 1/2 month period between December 2014 and 5/19/2015 were User IDs were probably assigned when you click on the activation link that gets sent to your email address. I never did this for any of my accounts, which allowed me to reserve usernames without having User IDs assigned to them.

I also created a username for a Pokemon that was named in a very credible 4chan leak, but I'm keeping it a secret account for now until the actual Pokemon is revealed.

Prior to this topic, we had been using the "Super Mario Maker 2 Review Zone" topic to discuss the game even though it wasn't originally intended to be used as such.

Now there's a proper discussion topic that should be easier to find on the board.

This topic can be used to share levels and discuss what you are currently doing in the game. Once multiplayer with friends arrives in a later update, we can use this topic to make plans for multiplayer gaming sessions.

I don't think anyone expected Zigzagoon of all things to get the first cross-gen evolution since Sylveon

And what I've seen suggests that this cross-gen evolution will be tied exclusively to the new regional variant, meaning regular Linoone can't evolve into this new Pokemon.

In fact, the Sword/Shield website kind of confirms this with a section that says "Some Pokmon only evolve from Galarian forms".

A pretty disappointing trailer overall. Not as much info as I was expecting and only 2 new Pokemon were revealed that weren't Galarian forms. No new Eevee either.
