I think it is a bit extraneous to start arguing a hypothetical of when the jobs don't exist when they do.

Also, he seriously changed the entire dynamic of the comment by leaving out the word "serious" in his post. It changes the entire comment from one talking about unemployment to one talking about a job that has a live-able wage / career job.

i don't see what's wrong with what tony is saying. republicans often said "polls are untrustworthy" after the last presidential election (not entirely unreasonable, given that a lot of them had hillary winning). if you believe that biden wins, you believe the polls are correct, because they also have biden winning. hence, you're contradicting your "polls are untrustworthy" statement.
